Excellent book. Ron Paul's writing is elegant and it's clear how deeply he cares about the issues. I also highly recommend his more recent books like Liberty Defined and End the Fed.

I didn't read the description of this product carefully enough so didn't know it was a book. I thought it was a DVD collection. I have the VHS of The Christmas Box and have seen The Letter and The Timepiece on TV, so wanted the DVDs. I will read the books and will probably enjoy them, as I enjoy stories by Richard Paul Evans. I still hope I can find DVDs of these stories w/o having to pay $150 each for them, as the DVD of The Christmas Box is priced.

This book can be summed up in four words: courage, perseverance, sacrifice, and love! I was touched by Paul’s story about his daughter Jillian in so many ways. Having had a child born with physical challenges and in the beginning we were told mental also (which later proved very wrong), I could relate to the Daugherty’s beliefs. We determined to help our child be all that they could be within their abilities and to stretch their even in those areas. We refused to give up and accept medicine’s status qua for their life. That choice was criticized by many but had far reaching results in their adult life. I applaud Paul and his wife for looking outside the box and helping Jillian have the life she deserved, not the life others thought she should have. Their love was apparent in the unfaltering battle to help their daughter not only in her education but preparing her for adulthood. In working with Downs Syndrome children and even other children born with disabilities, it is heartbreaking to see parents give up from the beginning of the diagnosis. I have seen parents even worsen the situation by focusing on what is wrong with the child, pitying and coddling them. Instead of not looking to their future by helping them develop the best of their capabilities. This is what the author and his wife did. Jillian was raised to believe in and accept herself. Not as the world saw her but as she truly was. Her parents showed tough love to help her grow. They respected her as an individual and a person by allowing her own decisions in areas she could. The Daugherty labored on past their frustration and exhaustion in dealing with professionals and authorities who were determined to keep their daughter in the Downs Syndrome “box”. What Jillian accomplished is incredible. While this is not on a negative note at all, this after all was his story. But did not agree with the choice the author made for his daughter preparing her for marriage. You have to read this book! Yes, it is a beautiful story about Jillian, her life, and the battle her parents fought for her, but it is much much more! A wonderful book with many lessons for all of us to learn! I received this book at no charge from Harper Collins Publishers in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own.

This is a classic book from Paul Gallico, one of my favorite writers. Wish I could give a copy to everyone I know.

I love mushrooms... learning about them, hunting them, trying to grow them. This book has so much great information in it! Paul Stamets is on the bleeding edge of myco-technology and the use of fungi to clean up toxic waste etc. All that information is wonderful, but the information on how to propagate mushrooms is invaluable. And the book was a great price! I've been devouring it -- over and over -- since it arrived.

Richard Paul Evens is a gifted writer. His Christmas Box started a yearly book in the holiday spirit. This work is very different then all other books by this author. It tells the story in so much detail that as you read, you feel like you are a part of the story. I eagerly await the next book in the series, Michael Vey...Rise of the Elgen. IIf you like suspense, you will love this book. I higly recommend it.

Frog Girl is cautionary tale of a NW Native - a young girl who saves her village from the destruction of a volcano - by returning captured frogs to their homes. It is partly a tale of compassion and kindness, partly a mythic introduction... It is utterly lavishly and wonderfully illustrated in the rich dark colors of the Pacific Northwest. Rather than an exact retelling of a specific Native Northwest story, it includes elements of many stories; and it is even further accessible in that it has a detailed index at the back for further study (by older readers). Parents have commented to me that their children seem very engaged in Frog Girl and Storm Boy (also by Paul Owen Lewis) and ask numerous questions, and want to hear the stories over & over again. This is out of print in hardback, but this is paperback is about the same size and inexpensive. You won't be sorry! Worth is for the illustrations alone.

If you haven't introduced yourself to this author, you owe it to yourself to do so. I just discovered him this summer & I now own everyone of his works, including this childs book. Regardless of age, this book is an inspiring story with a life long lesson. Richard Paul Evans is a creative & talented author that possesses the ability to captivate from the first page. You rarely can predict what is next or the valuable lesson each novel reveals. Remember the name: RICHARD PAUL EVANS and read all of his literature. He will warm your heart like no other and you will never be the same! K. Chandler Austin, TX
