Beautiful hardcover version with ribbon bookmark and lovely illustrations — a wonderful abridged edition of this classic. My 8-year-old wouldn't put it down and became enthralled with the delightful Anne Shirley and Avonlea.

This was a gift for my high school niece. She's into all the vampire books and movies, and these are her favorite so far. They are interesting she said and have a lot of action too.

At each ending, "But if you look like this, or this,... Then you are not a ______," he announces ,"You're a human child!" Non-fiction is underutilized in reading programs in schools and it especially interests boys as opposed to fiction. Reading programs are trying to catch up with this research finding. I first used "Are You a Snail" in my fourth grade classroom as a mentor text (along with several other children's picture books) to teach non fiction writing. Students selected an animal and researched it. This was one of several formats they could use to s...
