I had heard about this book from a flight attendant and decided to read it on vacation. I finished the book in the first three days - I could not put it down. I also had people walking by at the pool, who saw me reading the book and would make comments on what a great book it was. I highly recommend this book!

Follow Ambrose through Battles from the Western Theater into the East. The Author brings Ambrose and his fellow soldiers to life with great descriptions of the Battles as well as the Battlefields. It is clear when reading this book that the Author followed his Great Grandfathers foot steps while adding interesting information relating to today. His use of ancestral ties makes this a truly unique Civil War story. Fascinating family anecdotes make this book hard to put down! He also recounts his experiences in three Civil War films : Gettysburg, Andersonville, and God's and Generals. Must read!!!!!!

  • "Connects the dots" to Franklin attributes

This Autobiography was Franklin's work in progress over the span of his life, which included written correspondence with family and acquaintances. It's pretty much copied in text from his hand written prose, which included colloquial terms for that period. A very enlightening insight to one of our nations Founding Fathers.
