I have been practicing Bikram yoga now for 3 months (5 days/week avg.) and although my teachers are very thorough in explaining the 26 Bikram poses, I wanted to make sure I was doing them 100% correctly, so I figured I'd go straight to the source! I thought the book was helpful in showing the correct way to do each pose, and common mistakes people make while practicing. I wish there was a little more explanation about which poses are compression vs. stretching, and what exactly that does for your body. Perhaps its in the 2nd book? Overall, a good book to accompany your Bikram yoga studio experience.
It has some excellent instruction, mixed with a feeling of being there with Bikram and some humor as well. I believe it tells the truth about Yoga and what you can expect and should be aware of. Overall an excellent book for the uninitiated or curious. I am returning from several years and a battle with throat Cancer and this is the way to go for me.
