I bought the board book version for my 18 month old son - he likes bears. He is a little too young for the book. There are too many words on each page for his attention span, I don't think he will sit through it. I think it is better suited for a 2-4 year old. I think it is a good book, with nice pictures and a cute story. It is just not one of my favorites.
This book gives the reader lots of opportunities to make fun sounds and voice changes that capture the attention and imagination of the toddler or preschool audience. The rhyming verse is easy to read (not one you have to struggle with in order to make the rhythm fit) and loads of fun! "Bear Snores On" was the first to truly capture my two-year-old son's interest and encourage him to "read" for himself. Up to now, he's been content being read to, or just flipping through books narrating the pages. But "Bear Snores On" has pulled him into actively "reading", which at this age is recitation of the words. He "reads" along, saying the verses, with me, and gets so excited at the big events which take place. Pick up several of these for your child and for those of friends!
