John Patitucci, artistic director of the Bass Collective in New York City, a renowned recording artist who is proficient in styles ranging from fusion to classical, and a composer with seven albums to his name, presents this performance and clinic during Bass Day 1997. Here, Patitucci performs Coltrane`s "Giant Steps" along with five five of his own compositions using both acoustic bass and a six-string electric. During the clinic portion of the program he discusses topics ranging from his various techniques as well as the New York music scene and composing.
