Her book BACK CARE BASICS, first published in the early 1990s, has helped countless people overcome backaches, neck discomfort, and spinal ailments through the use of yogic techniques and postures. She begins with three very thorough introductory chapters, describing the basics of yoga in general, the anatomy of the spine, and how to move after surgery. Then she provides instruction in relaxation techniques and yoga postures with an emphasis on correct alignment. She encourages the reader to keep a progress diary and prescribes specific exercises for ailments such as sciatica, scoliosis, and chronic neck pain. Appendices include a glossary, a flexibility assessment sheet, and lists of other resources and books.

Great Book
Great book! Lots of information! Great pictures and examples of great yoga positions. If you have problems with your back this would be a good book to get!

Back Care Basics
Excellent book! Just what I was hoping for, it was clear, easy to follow, and possible to do at home on your own for the most part. The fact that it was written by a medical doctor who explained the benefits of each yoga move from a medical and exercise point of view was what we need more of in back care.
