Acerbic and outwardly despicable pulp novelist Melvin Udall lives in a haze of obsessive-compulsive behavior patterns, avoiding cracks in the sidewalk and rigidly adhering to his regimen of daily breakfasts in the cafe where harried single mom Carol Connelly (Helen Hunt) is the only waitress he`ll accept. But his ordered, hermetic world falls apart when his neighbor, a gay painter, needs a babysitter for his cherished dog--and only his long-time nemesis Melvin will do. Then, when the waitress`s son`s serious illness keeps her from work, Melvin realizes how much he needs her after all. We really enjoy this movie. Would definately suggest it to others.

The dog could see through Jack's facade
I simply loved this movie. I loved Jack's character he did some surprising things. Although his exterior showed him rude and not a caring person the dog knew better. The best part of the movie for me is when Jack''s character had to return the dog back to its owner. To me, Jack's character was the focus point and other characters seemed to work around him. The dog was, of course, the scene stealer. This movie is better for an older generation because of the problems Helen Hunt's character have with her son and the problems the Greg's character has to face. I don't think some young people want to sit through this. They will probably watch it because of the dog and after the dog leaves they will go also. For me, I decided to go for a ride and I enjoyed every minute of it.
