This successful quartet from Fort Payne (Alabama, of course) is best known for their catalogue of Southern-fried rock, Randy Owen`s searing ballads, and their populist anthems. Combining two new cuts, (including the current hit "We Can`t Love Like This Anymore,") with eight previously released chart-toppers and one remixed vocal version of "Angels Among Us," this hits compilation doesn`t disappoint. Alabama offers up selections from seven different albums, representing a good perspective of a band whose sound has hardly changed over its long career.
The mostly slow-paced collection includes the early-in-the-career "Tennessee River," the fiddle-driven rave-up "If You`re Gonna Play In Texas (You`ve Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)," and their beautiful country/pop duet, "Face To Face," with K.T. Oslin.
It says a lot for Randy, Jeff, Teddy, and Mark that their sound is so powerful and has touched so many people that they are on their third greatest hits package and they`ve barely scratched the surface.
