Life, or the lack thereof, in Academia. Follow the phenomenon known as PHD Comics in this fifth book collection of the popular online comic strip by Jorge Cham, which takes a humorous look at academic dress codes, grant writing, and the multiple uses of lab coats. What if Isaac Newton had tweeted? What if research journals had a comments section? What if TV "science" shows were like real science? The book also contains an excerpt from the script of the recently released "The PHD Movie" as well as author Jorge Cham's comics journal of his travels and his detention by U.K. Border Police.
Jorge Cham obtained his Ph.D. in Robotics from Stanford University. He was later an Instructor at Caltech, when he realized his cartoons were getting more popular than his research.
