Presents the history of the United States from the point of view of those who were exploited in the name of American progress.

Zinn's People's History of the United States with questions at the end of each chapter provides the much-needed forgotten side of history: not the story of politics or corporations, but of the people who struggled to live a decent life while fortunes were being made and lost at the top. Zinn admits that he makes no attempt to correct his liberal bias. The questions, written not by Zinn but by a high school history teacher, are provocative and encourage discussion and investigation into other texts. Though by the end of the book his slant has become somewhat tedious and predictable, it is fascinating, informative, and well-documented reading. I use it, along with Churchill's Great Republic, A Pocket History of the United States, and primary sources for my homeschool American History course.
