Once in a great while an extraordinary book is published that sets an entirely new standard in its field. A Manual of Acupuncture, published by Journal of Chinese Medicine Publications, is just such a book. Painstakingly researched over many years by Peter Deadman, editor-in-chief of The Journal of Chinese Medicine, and colleagues Mazin Al-Khafaji and Kevin Baker, this book has become the primary reference in the West for the study of acupuncture points and channels. With the subtle use of color to illustrate the acupuncture points and anatomical features, the new second edition of A Manual of Acupuncture is even more attractive and user-friendly than the first.

  • Highly recommended reading for Acupuncture student

I graduated from school without having looked at this book, and now I'm not sure how I did that! While CAM is or used to be the standard for students of TCM, Deadman has taken information thousands of years in the making, rewritten it into an easy to follow English format and I now understand things that I didn't understand after six years of schooling, including two years of internship! Especially well designed for readers of American English, this book is a bargain. The charts in the back of the book are beautifully designed and in color according to the parts of the body (chest, neck, abdomen, etc.). I had seen the first version of this book but was not impressed. I love the point prescriptions that go along with each point. This info WILL be used on the National Exam, so I would require any TCM student to buy this if I were teaching. This book gets five stars from me!
