This is an incredibly comfortable comforter, and I love that it's down alternative because real down inevitibly results in quills poking through the fabric. Speaking of which, the fabric of this comforter is soft, and it has subtle white sateen pinstripes, giving it a higher-quality, hotel-style look. In other words, you could use this comforter without a duvet cover and still have a nice looking bed. This does get pretty warm, so it you're a hot sleeper, you may want to get something a little lighter. I like that this comforter is nice and fluffy, not too thin, and its subtle baffle box design adds to its good-looking appearance. My only complaint is that despite the baffle box design, the interior does tend to redistribute itself after repeated use, but not to the extent that there are "empty" spots. A good fluffing and the comforter is as good as new! I would definitely recommend this product and am very pleased with my purchase.
I received this in the mail today. The first thing I did was put it on my bed because I am so tired of king size comforters that just cover the top. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this comforter is in fact as big as it claims. It overhangs all three sides of the bed very nicely. It has a good heft to it and the cotton cover is very soft. While I haven't slept under it, it washed well, and dried nicely (I dried it with 3 tennis balls to keep the fluff). The biggest issue I have is that due to its extremely large size, I am having trouble finding a duvet cover that will fit. Because it is white, I don't think that my house with 3 dogs and a rabbit will be conducive to keeping it clean. Plus, stuffing the whole thing in my front load washer works, but is not something I want to do weekly. Thus, a duvet cover is a necessity. Most oversized duvet covers are 98x102 but this comforter is 108 so that creates an issue. That means I need to head to the fabric store and buy fabric to make a cover. Since this is not meant to be put into a duvet, it also does not have the corner ties. Again, an easy remedy at the fabric store. However, if you are not the crafty type, and don't think white will work for you, I recommend you find your duvet cover first. I have yet to find one. That's the only reason I deducted one star - and I'm not really sure that's fair since again - this is meant to be a comforter on its own, and over size isn't necessarily a bad thing...Nonetheless, the fact that it only comes in white is cause to deduct a star. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
This alternative down comforter is a great buy! It is oversized so it fits on a king with plenty of excess. The baffles keep the filling from shifting too much and it is really "puffy", comfortable, and WARM! Will not be able to use this in the summer, and it is a bit too warm for my husband, but I think it is perfect for our cold Illinois winters. You would never know this is not real "down". LOVE IT!
my boyfriend and i totally love this comforter! it's not too hot like other down alternative comforters i've tried. it was easy to wash and dry, but make sure you use tennis balls in the dryer to keep the comforter from bunching up. it's a bit on the expensive side, but you pay for what you get. and we love it!!
I went over and over the reviews left by other customers and my over-riding feeling was to wonder why people i Florida were buying duvets rated "extra warm" and then complaining about how warm they were.... it made me wonder whether I was missing something because I was thinking "extra warm" was what I wanted for the 12ºF winter nights. Sooo I played off down and synthetic and looked at all the comments on whether they were really over-sized or not and then plumped for this one, and I have to say, I've been very happy the last month, pleased with my purchase, warm as toast, etc etc. Of course, YMMV
I have purchased two of the ultra warm comforters (1 king, 1 Queen) and let be tell you I could not be more pleased. They are very warm, the cover is extemely soft, and they stay very fluffy and look great. Have had for several weeks and they still look great. No settling or clumpling of material. The quality seems great, have not washed yet so I can not comment on that part. For the price these comforters far exceed the quality and looks of other comforters I have purchased recently that cost far more. Would have pruchased more but they were out of stock. Definate recommend.
Chose this quilt for the high thread count cover, so it would be soft and flexible, and for the Primaloft filler (I'm allergic to down), plus the closed baffles so the contents won't shift. I can snuggle right into the quilt, which I use with a flannel duvet cover instead of a top sheet. I have not washed the quilt yet, so can not comment on that. I am completely satisfied with every aspect of the purchase, including delivery time and condition of the package.
