My father is an elderly diabetic and now spends most of the day in bed. He doesn't like wearing adult diapers and so, wakes up in urine soaked clothes most of the time. My mother is working herself to death trying to keep up with changing his sheets and was having a hard time washing, drying and remaking the bed before he wanted to get back in it. She has a couple sets of sheets for my dad's bed but only had one mattress pad. So, I ordered this and had it sent to their home. My mom said it is better than the other they have which is hard for her to get around the corners of the bed (she has bad hands - arthritis). She said she likes this one much better because it is roomier and easier to work with. She actually asked that I order another which I have done. Now she will have two of these and the original one and should therefore always have a clean pad for a quick bed change. I am debating ordering another (3rd) and she can throw away the old original one which is hard for her to work with.
I had done a little price comparing prior to purchasing this mattress pad and it appeared to be a fairly good deal. Remember to FOLLOW THE WASH INSTRUCTIONS because this is waterproof and if the directions aren't followed, the waterproofing could be ruined.
I bought the queen size since my dad's bed is a queen. His mattress is a pillow-top but not like some of the very thick pillow-tops out there. I haven't actually seen this pad but from what my mother said, I suppose it would fit the thick pillow-top mattresses as well but with less corner material to work with. It is hard to review a product without having seen it but like I said, my mother (who is quite frugal) :-) likes this pad and enough so that she asked that I buy another. Hope this helps with your decision making...
I got this mattress protector to replace an old one I had that finally ripped. This new one, like the old one, is basically a fitted sheet that goes under your regular sheets. I like the terry cloth top because it's made of real cotton, HOWEVER this new mattress protector is very thin and doesn't prevent leaks! I have a geriatric cat who occasionally pees on my bed (which was my reason for getting this product in the first place).
This past weekend was his first incident with the new mattress protector and at least half the urine ended up soaking through into the mattress! I thought there was supposed to be a plastic under-lining? If I'm going to end up blotting cat urine out of my mattress anyway, why spend the extra money on this product instead of just using regular sheets?? I would NOT recommend this to anyone who expects there to be any accidents or spills on their bed, because it doesn't actually keep liquid off the mattress.
I read a review on here prior to purchase'n that this wasn't waterproof i decided to see for myself luckily, because this mattress protector is waterproof. I tested it before putting it on my bed, because i have a memory foam mattress topper and if it gets wet its done for, so i ran it under running water with a paper towel underneath to see if the paper towel would get wet and it didn't so, it is waterproof.. and i am happy with my purchase, fits well over my mattress AND memory foam topper which is an extra 4 inches.
the protector is nice and soft, and doesn't make a crunchy sound that is common to other waterproof products. the size is exactly right for our bed. i am not sure how effective the product is since my son has not leaked through his diaper lately, but i love that i can wash and dry the product without worrying that it will melt in the dryer.
I've paid much more for a mattress protector in the past, so I was a little dubious about the quality of this one because of the price. However, after reading the product reviews I decided to give it a shot. SO glad I did. Between a toddler who has the occasional pee accident and a cat who pees on the bed if he's pissed at us, we really needed something to protect our memory foam mattress topper. Besides being expensive, those things are so difficult to clean - after our cat peed on it several times, we were tempted to just get a new one because it took FOREVER to get the stench out and for the topper to fully dry.
I've had the mattress protector on for two weeks now, and just this morning my son peed in bed (don't tickle toddlers first thing in the morning, before they've had a chance to go potty!). It was a lot of pee, but when I checked the mattress, it was COMPLETELY dry under the protector. Yippee! Another big plus is that the mattress protector is really lightweight and you really don't feel like you're sleeping on plastic.

This is a good pad for my daughter's mattress. It's not as crinkly as the other one she had, but still seems like it'll be waterproof. It's not a think pad but that's not what I was looking for...just something to protect the mattress.
I keep our beds in protective coverings in cases of accidents but typically they side off because the mattresses are so thick plus I have 3" memory foam. This one stays on with room to spare!!! And it doesn't have that crunchy plastic sound from the backing?
I have a pillow top queen and it fits perfectly. The top is a very flat, sturdy material, but the sides/bottom is this super stretchy type fabric, so, in my opinion, it could fit a smaller bed or a huge pillow top.miamimomoftwo on Jul 16, 2014
I have a Serta iSeries Pillow Top and it is way too large. The top panel is 1-2in too large in every direction and the elastic sides are loose and droop.Adam on Oct 6, 2014
I got the twin size and have it on a very thick pillow top mattress and it fits very well.Troopergar on Jan 3, 2015
Do sheets slide on this mattress pad?
Does it make a crinkly noise?
Is it hot?sebarron on Feb 9, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Sheets are not a problem, and the pad does not do any crinkling at all like other cheaper types do.majulatr on Feb 21, 2014
No the sheets do not slide and I use the Egyptian Cotton 400 thread count. The mattress protector top feels like a towel material and under it is very smooth. No noise comes from this mattress protector, as far as it putting off heat, I have a memory foam mattress which naturally gives off a little heat so I can't really answer that part.venessabarnes on Mar 5, 2014
My sheets don't slide and there is no crinkly noise. It doesn't seem to increase heat. It is thin, easy to put on and is the best mattress pad I have ever used.envi on Mar 13, 2014
No crinkle noises or sheets sliding.shezarealgem on Mar 27, 2014
I understand what you mean about the "crinkly noise" - it does NOT make any sound and the terry top is nice and soft. The sheets do not slide because of the terry top. It does not change the temperature at all.laureen33 on Jun 25, 2014
I purchased this because multiple reviewers said that it was not crinkly, but it definitely is.Adam on Oct 6, 2014
No crinkling at all, no sliding of the sheets at all thanks to the terrycloth top on the product and I don't see that it puts off any more heat that a regular mattress cover, but everyone sleeps different.Troopergar on Jan 3, 2015

This is not a zip-around mattress cover so I do not believe it would provide adequate protection from dustmites or bedbugs.dede6677 on Mar 7, 2013

I DON'T believe it would as it is like a fitted sheet and does NOT zip around the mattress...ca2jarman on Feb 1, 2014
I have washed this mattress protector quite often (weekly) in cold water with Tide. My dog once had an accident on the bed and the liner saved the mattress. Washing in cold water got it out. Sorry, have never used hot water or bleach as my regular washing seems to do just fine.lruiz83 on Jan 23, 2013
While I understand your concern I hope you accept my deepest sympathies and best wishes. Unfortunately the best care instructions for the item is to not bleach, that will only defect the item, and it can only be washed with cold water, I hope that information should suffice. Please let me know if you have any more questions. overstockcustomercare1 on Jan 31, 2013
You might try adding 1/2 white vinegar (colorsafe with all fabrics, unlike bleach) & 1 teaspoon tea tree oil (a natural antiseptic, so "old-fashioned" that MRSA hasn't developed resistance to it yet) to a cold-water wash. I can't guarantee that this wouldn't do any harm to a waterproof mattress cover; however, those 2 products added to every load of our family's laundry for the past 5 yrs. or so have greatly reduced the number of infections in our family.catherinemcclarey on May 21, 2013
We love how comfortable our bed is and do not want to feel the mattress protector much. Is this thin enough so that we would be able to feel our mattress?kirbee314 on Nov 17, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
There are over 200 reviews on this pad and that would be your source of information on this particular question. overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 17, 2012
