I love this shape pillow and it was the best bargain I could find. I know I'm in for many a great night's rest.Read More
The Serta contour pillows that I purchased a few years ago were in need of replacement, but the item (#10033798) is no longer stocked. I loved the Serta but after a few years, the contour would go flat not long after going to bed. So, when I started looking for a new contour pillow, I found this one and reviewers said it was firm. Sounded like exactly what I wanted. And it is...almost. I am a side sleeper and this pillow definitely gets points for firmness. You won't find the front edge collapsing in the night. But, I can't get my head into the dip. It seems as though the high front edge of the pillow is too deep (front to back) before it contours down into the head divot such that even with the pillow snug against my shoulder, I still find that my head is resting on the high front contour and that's not a comfortable way to sleep! You can imagine by looking at the pillow image that if your head was being supported on the front edge of the pillow, you're talking about a really bad angle for your neck. Because I purchased only one of these pillows, I am still using one of the old Serta contour pillows on my bed and find myself gravitating to it in the night to relieve the crick in my neck and the ensuing headache. I have viewed numerous YouTube videos on the proper placement of a contour pillow for side sleepers and I've been using it right all these years, which I knew.Read More
I think this a very good pillow. I had to let it air out for about three to four days. I call this a Goldie-Lott pillow, not too firm and not too soft. It's a comfortable firm. It is not a hard firm. It took me a while to figure out the three positions. One night I decided to turn it around, and it was also comfortable. Several years ago I had surgery on my neck, that started me to look for alternative pillows. I found some much to soft and had to replace them early. I found some too hard and took a while to soften up. This is the first time I've tried this pillow and after the airing out period, it was good to go. I've been enjoying ever since.Read More
Having had horrible experience ordering pillows in the past, I was very hesitant about placing my order. I have close to a dozen pillows that have failed me. Many never made it past the first night before they went to the linen closet--someday soon I'll bundle most of them up to see if I can find a place to donate them. First night on this pillow was amazing. I slept w/o having to reposition my pillow every little while. So I thought it must be a fluke--nope--I've been sleeping on this wonderful pillow for two weeks, and still get best sleep in a long time. It is very firm, which is just what I was looking for. And thick enough that I can sleep on either side comfortably. I wish they would make a knee pillow from this same material--I would buy it in a heartbeat!Read More
Other reviews said this was firm. I would support that assessment but add it is so firm that you could give someone a concussion if you used it in a pillow fight. I tried, I really did. I generally like firmer pillows and love memory foam mattresses and pillows. But this pillow is awful, awful, awful. I used it for 10 days hoping it would either soften up a bit or I would adjust to it, until one day I woke up and could not move my head to the left. I had to go to a chiropractor and a massage therapist and it's still sore and tight. My partner used it only one night and couldn't stand it. I would return them but that's a pain to do on Overstock.Read More
...Always thought a pillow was just a pillow !!! Not so with my new Splendorest Gel Foam Pillow !!! It is VERY firm yet plush and it's unique shape provides for correct neck/head alignment !!! It's listed as a 3 way Pillow...I'm not quite sure about that particular aspect; as I believe it can be turned a variety of ways for optimum comfort and support !!! ...One item needs mentioning...this pillow MUST be aired out (preferably outside) to rid it of the foam odor..as it is shipped in an enclosed plastic bag and the odor is quite strong !!! ...Another positive is the beautiful plush zippered cover which comes with this pillow...it can be used as a pillow case; but I chose to cover it with an additional pillow case as well !!! ...As I commented earlier this Splendorest Gel Foam Pillow is VERY firm so if you are seeking a soft fluffy pillow...this one is NOT for you !!!Read More

For years I have been seeking a 5" contour pillow. I have neck problems. The smaller 3" or 4" did not work for me. It was too low for me to comfortably sleep. I sleep on my right side and on my back. I bought two of them incase that I cannot find a 5" contour pillow.Read More
When this came it had been used before. It had a stain down the side of it and lint off sheets or a blanket on the pillow case. It was like laying on a brick. I had to pay to ship it back but better that than the price of the pillow I guess. Worst deal ever from overstock.Read More
This pillow is FIRM and FOAMY..not memory foamy. The number of memory foam pounds is low, yet firmness is high..that's because it is made of mostly some other type pf foam. I love firm pillows that sit up high. I only need one pillow for my longish neck when I use this. The smell was minimal and not offensive.Read More

FAQs about Memory Foam Mattresses
Many people have heard of memory foam mattresses, but few can tell you what they are made from. Memory foam is a combination of polyurethane and additional ingredients which increase foam's viscosity and density. It was originally developed by NASA to improve the safety of their aircraft cushions, but now, it's used in mattresses, pillows, and other bedding. The soft and inviting material is what makes these mattresses so appealing to people looking for a good night's sleep.
Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses
Best Mattresses for Every Sleeping Position
A mattress is one of the most important purchases you can make because you spend hours each day sleeping and rejuvenating for the next day. While shopping for a new mattress, keep in mind the typical sleeping positions you have to ensure you will find the right mattress to help with bone or joint alignment. Below, you'll learn the best mattresses for every sleeping position. Sleeping on your back: If you primarily sleep on your back, you need to find a mattress with support to prevent pain in the lower back. Sleeping on a mattress that does not have enough support causes muscle strain in the back and increases the chance you will assume a poor posture during sleep, leaving you achy in the morning. The best mattresses for this sleeping position have at least 400 to 800 14-gauge coils. Innerspring mattresses feature firm coils to support the back yet still mold to the curvature of the spine. Mattresses with box springs are ideal for those who sleep on their backs because they stabilize weight, offering back support and increasing the life of the bedding. Sleeping on your stomach: While sleeping on your stomach is comfortable, it also increases pressure and strain on parts of the body like the neck or back. Soft mattresses are the best for those who sleep on their stomachs. Look for mattresses that have 300 to 400 14-gauge coils, which will ensure the mattress is soft and comfortable. If you must use a pillow, look into buying a memory foam style, which molds to the head and neck to stabilize them during sleep. Sleeping on your side: Side sleeping is one of the most common positions on a mattress, and it may also be one of the hardest positions to shop for. Since you lay on your side, there is pressure on the shoulders and hips, which could make a firm mattress uncomfortable for sleeping. A mattress that is too soft is often not supportive enough to keep the spine in proper alignment. The ideal mattress for this position is one that has supportive coils, with a memory foam topper to provide comfort to the joints of the body. How to Wash Throw Pillows
Part of keeping a clean house is making sure all of your decorative accessories are clean. Throw pillows covered in delicate fabrics, such as wool or silk, will have to be dry-cleaned, as will throw pillows stuffed with down or feathers. Foam-filled throw pillows with cotton covers or other washable materials, however, can be washed -- some even by machine. Nevertheless, even if a pillow appears washable, always consult the washing instruction label before attempting to wash a throw pillow -- or you may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you remove the pillow from the washing machine.
