Some years ago I bought some gloriously heavy cotton sheets from Overstock. Eventually they wore out and I moved on to other high thread count varieties that were all nice enough, but I kept remembering how wonderfully thick and heavy those sheets were. Finally I bought these sheets and ahhhh....heaven! Apparently not everyone likes the sensation of a heavy sheet, but my husand and I both adore it. To me they feel very luxurious. Also, we have a mattress warmer that has tiny wires running through it, and the heavy bottom sheet makes me much less aware of the pad. I couldn't be happier with these.
I ordered a set of 1000 sheets back In 2003, and they were the best sheets. These are very similar . If your looking for a medium to heavy weight sheet you will be happy with these. If you want those paper think sheets you won't like these. They have a slight sheen, although they are 100 percent cotton. I ordered cream but they are actually the color of Wheat. I did check my order sheet and it did say cream. I plan to order a 2nd set so I will look to see if there is an option for taupe or tan, in case perhaps they threw the wrong color in the box at the wear house. So if you need cream then I would go with white. They are neutral and would go any color. LOL I am actually painting my bedroom at the moment so I held it up to the wall. Its Lowes, Valspar color DRUMSKIN and its pretty darn close to it. (If you really need to make sure the color is what you want) Also, if you are new to higher count sheets I thought I would add this. Please don't use bleach because with higher count cotton bleach destroys them. It will eat holes in them for some reason. I'm not sure if it is due to the tight weave, or that its pure cotton as I have not had this happen with towels. I had a set I bought a few years go and I learned the hard way. I tend to wash whites in very hot water. I am guilty of not always looking at the washing instructions so I thought I would save someone the grief by my mistake. I am very happy with the sheets and plan to order another pair.
The first set of these sheets I purchased in 2004. I am still using them and they are white! Many many washes with hot water (they do not recommend this but I do) they are tight but worth the struggle to put them on the bed. I bought a new set 5 months ago and they are still wonderful as ever, in fact they seem to have improved the fit. They are on my guest bed and everyone that sleeps in the bed asks me where I got them. I have purchased expensive luxury sheet sets that have never held up to years of use like these and they were triple the price. Two years ago I bought a 100% linen set from Restoration Hardware and they ripped in the middle within 10 months! The price was $XXX! Look no further. Buy these.
I have purchased 1000 TC sheets for many years. I've had some that were too heavy (like cardboard) and some that enticed one to stay in bed all day. I was searching for the latter and with much research, I was hoping these were the magic I'd long sought after. I've had these sheets just over one month... there's already pilling. The flat sheet feels great, but the fitted sheet is simply falling apart. They are not too cold when going to sleep (like other's that can induce chills for 5 minutes). There are good things about them, but there's no way I'm going to spend $*** on sheets that are only good for one month. Upon contacting customer service, I was asked if they had been washed. I knew what answer was coming next. When I said "yes, per label instructions", I was told that they could not be returned. I explained that materials should always be washed before use due to manufacturing process and possible residual chemicals. The next excuse was that it was "over 30 days". I've purchased from Overstock before with satisfaction, but haven't had to return anything until now. This experience is enough to warn me away from further business with them. Poor quality should not be backed up by poor customer service. What a disappointment.
After reading other reviews, I purchased these sheets knowing that they would be heavy to the touch. They are very smooth, and feel great. They wick away sweat, don't wrinkle easily, and my husband and I both love them. The white is a bright true white. We bought a second set we loved them so much.
Okay when I purchased these is for the sole reason of NOT getting sateen. I don't like sheets that are slick to the feel, or even close to satin. When I opened the box it came in, what did I see written on the packaging? *SATEEN sheets* I was really upset, but opted to just suck it up, and wash them. When I pulled them out of the packaging they were quite heavy, which, is one thing I was looking for. But I was hell bent on hating these sheets - because of the sateen label that is NOWHERE to be found here on the website, but was so boldly written on the packaging. After washing and placing on the bed, these feel NOTHING like sateen, and I am HAPPY FOR THAT!!!!! They are like a solid heavy cotton sheet, just what I was hoping for. They fit our 11 inch thick - firm mattress perfectly; not sure how they would do on a pillowtop or deep mattress. All-n-all, I am happy with our purchase, but for labeling's sake, put sateen in the description... since it clearly states that on the product's packaging.
These sheets have the rich, heavy, thick and smooth feel I expected and hoped for in real 1000 TC linens. I have washed, line-dried, and ironed them once so far. They're smooth and crisp on the bed and feel very luxurious. As others have mentioned, genuinely high thread-count cotton sheets are not light-as-air--1000 threads per inch means a dense, heavy, and very smooth weave. I could use the top sheet almost as a light summer blanket. The decorative finish on the top sheet fold-down (a row of plain satin stitch, very subtle) is the same on both sides, so you can use the top sheet either side up. Because I have a thinner 7" deep memory foam mattress, I always use bed garters to tighten my fitted sheets and prevent them bunching up, and this sheet is no exception, but I suspect that it would be a VERY tight fit on one of the extra-tall innerspring mattresses. The corner-shaping seam, after the aforementioned single hot wash and line dry, measures just 14" from bed surface to elastic edge. The fitted sheet's edge has elastic all the way around. I routinely iron my sheets because there is NOTHING like the cool, comfortable smoothness of freshly-ironed cotton, so i don't mind pressing these. (Tip: did you know you can iron your sheets right on your bed? You can! And it's so much easier than trying to use an ironing board!) However, the first time out, they've proven very hard to iron. Creases created by the packaging persist after a hot wash, a line dry, and heavy steam ironing with water-spray could NOT get rid of them. I expect them to relax a bit with subsequent washings, and if they don't, I'll revise this review. While this isn't a big problem for me, I have a hard time imagining using these sheets without ironing--at least, not before ten or a dozen washes to soften them up. Even then, if you have a smaller Euro dryer like I do, I expect these large, heavy sheets would ball up fiercely in there and come out a mass of wrinkles. To be fair, the last set of very high thread count sheets I bought were the same way; line-drying was a great advantage. If you're looking for a light, wrinkle-free set of bed linens, these may not be for you. But if you like the five-star-hotel quality of heavy, high thread count sheets, prepare to iron and enjoy these.
These sheets are thick and need a few washes to soften up. I live where it is cold most of the time, so I like the weight of them. But if I lived where it was warm, I probably wouldn't like these sheet on me. They are heavy weight. My only real complaint on the sheets is that the top sheet is a little short on the side. I can't do my hospital corners like I like to do with them which means the bed is in complete shambles in the morning from my husband. But they are a good value. So an extra few minutes in the morning to remake the bed isn't too big of a deal.
loved everything about them except for one thing. The fitted sheets are super deep to accomodate my 4 inch pillow top but the top sheet barely covers the 12 inch on both sides, so if you are a tucker and have extravagant pillow top plus mattress depth you will only be able to tuck one side. But overall really impressive value. Rich color super thick and plush, deep fitted sheet accomodates oversize mattresses, and they wash very well. very heavy when wet you will break a sweat moving them from washer to dryer. love mine
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? better than it appears SOOOO Rich
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. better than expected, these sheets will last for YEARS they are super thick and plush
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? great,
These sheets feel, amazing. I love that they are not deep pocket. I have searched everywhere for sheets that are not deep pocket. They have elastic all the way around and fit very well. They are heavyweight, luxurious, soft and smooth. I plan to order another set.
I own BOTH 1200 & 1500 thread count sheets, these 1000 TC sheets in my opinion are a higher quality sheet. They are heavy, thick and feel soft and comfy on your skin. I have purchased high TC sheets before at a different retailer on-line and they were thin and did not fit my king bed VERY well. Therefore, I was skeptical to order on-line again. I AM SO GLAD I DID ... THANK YOU "O"'
I read a review that said "Don't hesitate to buy" and that review was accurate. These are luxurious, very heavy sheets. They are the nicest sheets I have ever ordered. We are going to buy another pair. Like the person before me said: Don't hesitate. Worth the price.
These are the thickest, heaviest sheets I've ever encountered -- almost like sailcloth! We've been very happy with them, even though they were stiffer (at this point) and thicker than expected. They have a great feel to them (at least on the satin weave side -- the other side is rougher). They have a nice feel, not drapy, rather crisp in a pleasant way. I know they will soften with more washings -- and will last FOREVER. I was looking for 'real' Egyptian cotton, truly made from the longer-fibers it's famous for, not just leftover scraps and pieces of fluff which is quite common in lower priced Egyptian cotton sheets. (They don't hold up like the long-fiber type.) It seems to be happening more often that people make holes in modern sheets with their toes. That won't happen here. Definitely a great purchase at a great price. If I buy another set, it will be to have back-up, because I suspect this set will last the rest of my life!
