I had one of these for my full size bed (loved it), upgraded to a queen bed and then bought a different brand of waterproof mattress pad (hated it). The other one was "stickier" when I slept on it, louder when I moved on it, and didn't hug the mattress as well and wrinkled under the sheets (uncomfortable!!). I bought this one for my queen and I love it. The skirt construction is awesome (though a bit tricky to put on, especially in smaller sizes), keeps the mattress pad nicely in place with no wrinkling. It fits my queen bed perfectly. And the waterproof backing does not bother me at all. It's worth a bit more money for the protection, comfort, and the great fit.
I was so excited about receiving this product, especially from reading the reviews. I do not understand what they are talking about. It does not fit like a glove, or at least if you want to go with that analogy it is like a person with a large size hand trying to squeeze into a size small glove. The Expand-A-Grip does cover my queen mattress and three inch memory foam topper, HOWEVER, the padding is too small. It does not extend to the edge of the bed. The mattress pad was not queen size, it is more like somewhere between a full and queen size. The padding itself also does not stay in place. It shifts and I have to constantly fix it because I can feel when it starts to bunch up. A few good things are that I cannot hear the laminated back and it is soft, BUT it really makes you sweat and I am not the kind of person that sweats easily either. It made me so uncomfortably hot that I actually woke up in the middle of the night to wipe my lower back. I am also skeptical that it is actually a Simmons because Simmons is no where to be found on the label and I received a black and white print out of the Simmons mattress pad info sheet instead of a color one that would be inside the plastic packaging. This is not worth your money. You should look into other mattress pads.
We knew we needed a waterproof mattress pad but I was dreading the plasticky sound and feel. This mattress pad doesn't seem that different from a regular one. It is a bit stiffer off the bed, but once it is on you don't notice it at all. It hasn't been "tested" yet with an accident, but I'm really hoping it'll hold up because we like it in every other way.
Simmons 400 thread count protection mattress pad fit over a 2" pad and the mattress with ease, The fabric was elegant and very well structured. The protection portion was well hidden between the layers so you really didn't feel like you were sleeping on plastic. The bed slept better after adding this pad!
