So comfy and luxurious-great deal!
from Northeast Missippi,  Sep 20, 2006

I love this comforter and I'm so happy I bought it! This comforter is well made. For those who've never had a silk comforter, they aren't puffy like down but instead flat so they drape nicely on the bed. Although lightweight, it's warm but still comfortable in the warm southern summers. I put a 320tc duvet cover on mine and I love how the comforter drapes on me. Feels very luxurious-as soft as down, only lighter and allergy free since silk is naturally dust mite resistant. I recommend using a duvet with this since it's dryclean only but with proper care you shouldn't have to do that but every 5-10 years. This is a bargain price, too! BTW, fill weight wasn't listed on overstock's website but the package says full/queen is 40oz and king is 50oz which is equal to other silk comforters I looked at at much higher prices. Very happy with my purchase!

Silk Filled Damask Stripe 260tc Comforter
from SW Florida,  Apr 28, 2006

I bought one of these first and loved it so much that I ordered another one. Wonderful quality - the cotton cover is silky and smooth and looks great without a duvet covering it. The 100% silk fill is warm and cool at the same time, absolutely perfect for summer! A pleasure to slip under this cover!

silk filled damask stripe 260 tc comforter
 from Greenville,SC,  Feb 16, 2009

This King size (50 oz.)Silk filled Damask stripe 260tc comforter seems really nice. It is heavier than I thought it would be, but not too heavy. I would say it is about twice the thickness of a good quality handmade quilt. The weight is like two nice quilts as well. I purchased this because I read that silk helps to regulate body temp so you don't get too hot or cold. Seems good so far. Also, doesn't attract dust mites. I really don't know too much about silk comforters. I have read that like down, the heavier, the warmer. I also understand there are different types of silk fill. This package only states size and weight as Twin 63x86 30 oz. Queen 86x86 40oz. King 102x86 50oz. This weight seems good for this part of the country (southern northeast). The FQ size is small for me. I like plenty to turn down and over hang on the sides. I purchased the King. I use mine like a bed spread. The King would be perfect for a Queen size bed in my opinion. Mine bed is a Full size. A little big, but have plans for a Queen bed and like the extra room. The Damask stripe outside is very pretty! Also, has a pretty satin piping! Too bad it has to be in a duvet, it is very pretty! The only draw back for me is that it has to be dry cleaned. I did read one account of a person who accidently washed their silk comforter. It came out okay. I will keep mine in a duvet and dry clean when needed. They do not need dry cleaning every season. It is suggested to hang it out on a line in the fresh air and sun. The price is great compared to other Silk comforters I have seen. Overstock transaction was perfect! I give this Silk filled comforter five stars for price, quality and comfort!

So soft
from Southeastern Mass,  Jul 22, 2011

Bought this as an alternative to down after much research into hypoallergenic duvet inserts. The price was 1/3 of what other sites are selling silk comforters for so I thought the quality might not be too good.I was wrong!I have never regretted this purchase though I do have to say it is not quite as light as down. But it is still lightweight and warm in the winter.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Color was correct
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Very high quality
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Quite accurate

perfect light comforter for all seasons
from Washington, DC,  Nov 5, 2010

I've had this silk comforter for almost a year now and love it. I bought it to replace an overstuffed down comforter that was giving me allergies. Aesthetically, I was over the fluffy bed look, and wanted a "flatter" comforter and a neater, trimmer look. This comforter delivers at a bargain price. It looks great with my simple, white duvet. I've found it warm enough through fall, but I may pair it with a coverlet for winter. Again, it is NOT for people who want a fluffy down alternative comforter -- silk is a much more compact fiber, perfect for people who want a more spartan, simple look to their bed. Also, note that this comforter is dry clean only.

not heavy enough
from Washington, DC,  Jan 30, 2009

My parents have several of these from Hong Kong, and this one is about 1/2 the weight (adjusting for size) than theirs. These are supposed to be heavy, yet flexible. So that you feel like you're in a cocoon. This one isn't really flexible (the damask cover is pretty stiff) and about the same weight as a regular down comforter. For those who aren't familiar with the real Chinese silk comfortors, this is an acceptable substitute for a down comforter, but doesn't approach the real thing in weight.

Luxurious Comforter
from Greensboro, North Carolina,  Oct 22, 2008

I was leary to buy a silk comforter since I have never seen one in person. However, I am usually disgusted by the smell of down comforters, but my husband and I have been trying to use more natural fabrics and we wanted something we could use a duvet with so we could easily wash it. I was compelled by the reviewer that said she no longer had polyester-induced night sweats...I get very hot while sleeping, so this was a big bonus. I was nervous when it first came because it's in a no-name package and seems quite thin. However, once we got it into a duvet and onto the bed and we climbed under it, my doubts went away. It is warm without being too heavy, and it settles onto you in a way that ordinary comforters don't. I found another much more expensive silk comforter on Overstock, but I can't imagine it being better than this one. I would definitely recommend a duvet, not only to protect it (and you will want to protect this great comforter), but I had put the comforter into the dryer with a Dryel to freshen it before putting it on the bed, and it became even more wrinkled than it had been coming out of the package, so I'm not sure how it would look by itself on the bed. Very nice and well worth the money...if I have to replace it, I'm already pretty sure I will always want a silk comforter from now on.

Nice
Anonymous  from Chicago,  Oct 10, 2008

I like the way this lays---not all that loft lke most. Also like the way it conforms to they body. A little bit heavier than a down blanket but equal insulation. The fabric is mediouer and definetly requires a duvet cover (dry clean)---a fair trade off for the luxury of silk fill.! .

Silk Comforter
from Creedmoor, NC,  Sep 13, 2008

We recently traveled to China and visited a factory where these type comforters were made. My mother coveted them, but we didn't want to carry it throughout the trip with us. I bought this for her birthday when we returned and she has been thrilled. The cover is higher quality than we saw in the factory in China, the weight is great, the price was better. Couldn't be happier, especially since a duvet cover is NOT necessary.

Perfect for a snob like me :-)
from Los Angeles,  Aug 14, 2008

I've become a real bedding snob over the last few years. I love a nice thick and soft cotton blanket and this is the best of the best in my opinion. Just thick enough to feel sturdy and warm, but beautiful to look at too. I had planned to use this as an additional blanket for the coming winter but one feel of the fabric and that idea flew out the window. it's soft and feels great (this and a killer set of sheets and you're set for summer). it drapes on the bed beautifully and the border all the way around is a nice touch. I *gulp* would have paid much more for this blanket.

great!
 Jul 31, 2008

I got my comforter a couple of weeks ago. It's been great! The perfect comforter for the summer. I've always had allergies to traditional down comforters and i was very nervous about this one. It turned out to be amazing! Also, i didnt' like that the comforter was 300 or less thread count but i put a duvet cover on it- and it's been fabulous! It's not lumpy as other downs - it lays flat. love love love it!

Size does not really fit a King size bed with an average size mattress. It certainly does not fit a bed with deep mattress.

Silk Duvet
from Phoenix, AZ,  Mar 30, 2008

This duvet is light-weight but because it is silk filled, it is breathable for summer use and provides needed warmth for the winter. It is ideal for those looking for a sleek coverlet look but wanting something that can be used year-round. I highly recommend.

A wonderful night's sleep
from El Paso, Texas,  Jan 18, 2008

My husband and I invested in an expensive memory foam bed. It was great, but for one thing: with our covers we were too hot, then too cold, then too hot, etc. all night long. We didn't get much rest despite the super-comfortable mattress. Then we received this fabulous comforter. I put it in a 100% cotton duvet cover. We slept so soundly all night long we were thrilled! Wow, what a difference. We love it. It feels very luxurious and keeps our body temperatures even all night.

Silk fill comforter
from California Bay Area,  Jan 4, 2008

The comforter arrived promptly and in good condition. The cover with piping was attractive, durable and well made. The comforter does not need a duvet cover for appearance. The comforter draped well. The batting was thinner than expected but the comforter was still warm. Probably a 3 season weight. I added an extra blanket for a cool (50's ) bedroom.

terrific comforter
from Voorhees NJ,  Dec 25, 2007

I bought this comforter because I had heard that silk diffuses heat from hot flashes yet also keeps you warm. I have found both concepts were true for me. I am very happy with my purchase. The price is half of what I was looking at on a different website. I am very grateful that I found this on Overstock.

Silk comforter
from New York, NY,  Dec 23, 2007

I needed a silk comforter because I needed something lightweight and hypoallergenic, and this seemed to fit the bill. It isn't overly heavy, but I sleep with an open window in the northeast, and have been warm enough, even on nights with the temperature in the 20s. The only drawback is that the cover is white, which is neutral but requires a cover for it.

Thin but Warm!
from Hunterdon County, NJ,  Dec 17, 2007

This comforter is very warm and better than that...it BREATHES! I didn't realize how much my old one didn't breath until we got this one. You can snuggle into it completely and not get too hot.

Great price
from Los Angeles,  Oct 31, 2006

I got the full/queen filled 40oz. I'm pleased overall. The blanket is not too thick but keeps me warm at night. No need to air this one out like a down one, but there was a slight odor. If you find that it is not warm enough, there is another on overstock that is 110oz . For now, I'm happy with the pirce I paid and the quality of it. You will find that silk filled comforters can be expensive to buy so this really is a deal! Make sure to get a duvet cover at least 86x86 so it will be easier to care for when you need to wash it.
