thin but warm
 Dec 28, 2009

From all the other reviews, I expected a blanket that was heavier, but really this wasn't heavy at all!In comparison to a down comforter, I would rate this 10x better; it doesn't "clump" inside the cover, as the stitching is very efficiently done, and even though it's a thin and light comforter, it's still very warm. You can put another thin blanket over it for more warmth, but for the most part, I think it's good as is. I would recommend putting it in a duvet cover for protection since you can't really wash it. I also like that this blanket sits flat on the bed, unlike a down-alternative comforter, which would be kind of lumpy and bumpy on the bed, this one lays flat and hangs down the sides of the bed like a sheet would; this makes for a very neat and well-kept appearance.

Excellent value!
 from maryland,  Dec 28, 2009

I bought this comforter for my parents and they loved it. They said that it was the best comforter they have ever had. It's very warm and breathable. I was skeptical when open the package. It felt a little bit thin, but it worked.

Great Deal
from Des Moines, Iowa,  Dec 27, 2009

I am very pleased with this purchase and happy to have those heavyweight comforters off of me. I put a thin blanket over this and have been warm enough to stick one little foot out, although when I wake up in the morning I am nicely snuggled. I have arthritis in nearly every joint and this cover is as warm (if not warmer) than the convention down comforter, and a lot easier for me to make my bed with. Some talked about how thin it was, but what i read about silk is it retains heats and rejects allergins. I also have asthma, which is why I got rid of my feather comforter, but this is a much better alternative to down imitations. I have not washed it yet, so cannot vouch for that, although I will follow the directions on the label.Just the thought that little dust mites would not grow in that made me happy!

silk comforter
 from Minnesota,  Dec 26, 2009

I highly recommend this comforter. We needed to replace the comforter we had that was heavy to move around under and not very warm. This silk comforter is much lighter but very warm. We set our thermostat down at night and we stay very cozy. I did purchase a duvet cover for it (also from Overstock) since it is recommended that a silk comforter just be hung out in the sun a couple times a year and not put in the washer. I had planned to purchase a down comforter, but I am so very glad I made the decision to purchase the silk one instead.

Silk-filled comforter
from Philadelphia, PA,  Dec 25, 2009

We have evolved to a more minimalist style in our bedroom than that our over-stuffed down comforter affords. We were looking for a new filler for a nice duvet cover but didn't want the warmth, puffy appearance or cost of another down comforter. The silk provides a low profile, is certainly warm enough but not as sweat-inducing as its predecessor. Very happy with our purchase! Great value and resolved a challenge.

comforter
 from LA,  Dec 23, 2009

Not comforting or warm in 40 degree weather. You get what you pay for. I should've returned it but, didn't want to hassle with shipping and packaging. I have to pile on two more blankets to stay warm.

Great Comfort for Even Greater Value
from Tucson, Arizona,  Dec 23, 2009

I bought this comforter for my husband and I. We were so impressed that I bought two more as Christmas gifts for other family members. If you live in a cold climate, this comforter will definitely keep you warm over the winter. It is also hypoallergenic, unlike down-filled comforters. LOVE IT!

Nice Weighty Comforter

With this comforter you have a real feeling of something over you but it doesn't trap the heat like down. We think it's very comfortable and like it a lot.

Love it!
from Sarasota, FL,  Dec 6, 2009

Received this comforter. Never had a silk filled comforter before, but wanted one because I found out recently that down gives me allergies. Tried a down alternative, but wasn't happy. This comforter is thinner than down, but just as cozy. I live in Florida, and I don't think it would be warm enough for snow weather, but I love it. Also, it fits duvets better, and smoother than any comforter I have ever owned. I have received a few compliments on this comforter so far, people wanting to know where I got it, and shocked at how affordable it is. Also, the silk doesn't set off my allergies. Wish it wasn't dry clean only, but that's why I bought a duvet. Recommended!

Disappointed at first, now I'm in love
from Seattle, WA,  Dec 5, 2009

When I opened the box I was disappointed how flat the comforter looked. I even took it out and shook it and didn't put it on my bed for another day hoping it would come to life. Luckily I remembered the excellent reviews on this and decided to put it on my bed anyway. It is perfect. It may not be fluffy but it is a nice weight and kept me very warm and comfy. I also like that it is made of silk and is dust mite resistant. In addition I purchased a duvet cover which I love and makes the comforter look nice and inviting and will protect my new comforter.

silk filled comforter
from washington, dc,  Nov 27, 2009

I absolutely love this comforter and am using it instead of down. I don't have to worry about allergies, loose feathers and dust mites. I ordered the king size comforter and am using a king duvet and its fits perfectly. As another reviewer pointed out, it is not puffy and drapes nicely on the bed. It is warm and cozy and not heavy. I used previous reviews as a guide before buying this comforter. I don't think you will be disappointed with this purchase.

What Luxury!
from Bloomington, IN,  Nov 7, 2009

Received today, After a chilly evening at the High School football game, I am cozy warm under this luxurious silk filled comforter. I have been looking for one for about two years - I was very skeptical about purchasing this comforter as it was so much cheaper than anything else I had looked at - but there is nothing cheap about this comforter. I look forward to many cozy and luxurious nights of sleep. Thanks for another quality product Overstock!

perfect comfort
from Tidewater VA,  Nov 6, 2009

The silk-filled comforter strikes a perfect balance between warmth and weight - it seems to float over the bed, yet holds in body heat just as well as any down comforter I've used. I've been told by doctor to avoid down products due to allergies; the silk option is great because it is naturally hypoallergenic, and I've had no problems so far. As for construction, the damask stripe cover is smooth, with a very soft 'hand', and all stitching is even and secure. The only drawback is that it only comes in white - but hey, that's what duvets are for. I liked this item so much that I came back and purchased one for my mom and one for my daughter. As always, Overstock's cheap and fast shipping made the experience even better.

Hotel Quality
from Orange, Ca,  Nov 4, 2009

I was looking to upgrade my bedroom set to mirror the type of bedding found in hotels but I am allergic to Down. This is a fantastic alternative. Plush but not heavy. Silk is suppose to keep temperature constant and I find it keeps me comfortable no matter what the room temperature is. Love it!

love them
 from TN,  Oct 29, 2009

We bought two of these comforters. Although they are thin they are very warm, just like what other people already mentioned. The cotton cover is of good quality too. But, if you prefer something puffy, this may not be your choice.

Warm, warmer, warmest
from Tomball, TX,  Oct 21, 2009

I received my silk filled comforter more quickly than I had thought -- a very nice surprise. I opened the package and found the comforter to be of excellent workmanship and quality materials. When I lifted the comforter out of the box, I was surprised to find it was quite heavy for it's size (I got a queen size). I covered the comforter with a duvet and put it on my bed. I have slept under it for several weeks now and find that if it is not very cold outside, it is more warmth than I need. I have no doubt that when the temperature plunges, I will be very happy that I purchased it.

breathes
 from oregon,  Oct 19, 2009

I bought this after reading one review that this breathes - and it does! it fits corner to corner in a duvet cover - perfect fit, sized as stated exactly. it is near perfect weight for oregon weather (a tiny bit warmer would be great in the winter - so i keep an extra blanket on the foot of the bed) - the photo makes this appear like a huge fluffy thing that doesn't bend/ fold over the edge of the bed which is simply deceiving. it drapes like a blanket, not a huge comforter. i was tired of getting overheated by down comforters of every weight and warmth level - not to mention the feathers that escape. this is the perfect down alternative - -well, now that I know what silk can do I'd never choose down again.

Love it!
from Milwaukee, WI,  Sep 20, 2009

I bought this comforter when my allergy test results said that I am horribly allergic to dust mites. Silk is a material dust mites can not live in making this a great option for those suffering from allergies. Not wanting to spend a small fortune on the special allergy certified products, I searched for this in frustration and found it here on overstock. I absolutely love this comforter. I live in WI where we have COLD winters (-13 degree wind chills) and this keeps me very warm. It's seems very thin when you first open the package but it's dense so when when you sleep it hugs your body, keeping the warmth in while regulating your body temperature. I have a 20in or so queen sized mattress and the queen size comforter fits just right. Don't hesitate.

Silk is Soooooo nice
from Rumney NH,  Sep 14, 2009

I have a # of down comforters but they are to hot except for the very coldest New England weather. I first slept under silk in China and really enjoyed it. The silk seems to keep you just right no matter the temp. in the room. If your room is 40 degrees or 70, the silk works. Besure and keep it in a cover. But once you sleep under silk you will not want to go back to down or blankets. The other thing I found with silk is that when it is humid the silk stays nice to sleep under.
