  • Turns any mattress into a dream of pleasure!

    I purchased this 4" memory foam mattress topper as a last effort to find something that would help me sleep better. I have been fighting a few horrible disease's called Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthristis and Chronic Fatigue for years and have never slept through the night. I'm only 44yrs old and too young to feel so old. The first time I put on my memory foam topper, I just layed there with no pain and instant relief. I didn't even get into my pajamas; because I fell asleep within minutes and to my amazement, slept all night long in the same postion. I woke up in complete shock and actually for the first time could walk to the bathroom without feeling stiff and bouncing off my furniture to just hold me up because of the pain. There's not a prescription from any of my doctor's that could have provided me with such relief. Now my condition is getting so much better because I am actually sleeping through all four stages of sleep that your body needs to repair your muscles, ligaments, tendons, not to mention your state of well being from having a great night sleep! I highly recommend this topper to everyone, especially people who suffer from insomnia caused by pain that awakens you when ever you move at night. With this topper, I find that I do not move. This is the best investment which was so cost effective, I could have ever purchased. There's not a sleeping pill in the world that can out do this topper! Thank You Overstock for saving my life.   • I swear by this!

    I were a bit skeptical to buy this topper as I know like all of you out there, a good night sleep is priceless... was just thinking of getting rid of my mattress which is still in mid condition and got one of those Tempur Medic mattress instead...Last minutes, I have decided to try this one out first...... oh my Gosh, it was so very comfortable..& .how good was it???? I almost missed work this morning and it is just not so me to do that... My advice, spend monies to buy this first if you are thinking about replacing your mattress... it is really really Great for a fraction of what could cost you..and it is made by Serta...can't go wrong with that.. Please note of one thing, the instruction of how to open this topper was packed in the bottom of the box, so I tried to manually rolled the topper opened and Opps, it was a mistake...I did open it, but it took a lot of of me to do so.... Please do not attempt to do that, just open the topper from its wrapper and let it sit on the floor for at leasat 24hour to air out the smell, but also make it easier to roll it open later. One happy and repeat customer...

    I wasnt going to review this product until I had it for a while. 1 year later, here's my review: PROS: - with memory foam pads, the thicker, the better. 4" is the thickkest ive seen available out there. - decently priced. you get what you pay for - never woke up with a bad back, also considering i sleep on my side and chest - i sleep longer CONS: - it is heat sensitive: if it's cold in the room, it's firmer, if it's hot, it's softer and it's no longer a "memory foam" but a regular foam. - with that said, the area/shape you sleep on is not really a "memory foam" because of warm body temperature - the more it is exposed to the air (especially the edges), the foam turns from white to yellow like the rest of the regular foams - it's about 2" short from regular mattress size. but i suppose that's to make room for the fitted sheet to cover the mattress and the extra 4" thick memory foam. - im about 120lbs, the firmness is perfect. but i dont know about those heavier than me, because like i said about the heat/temperature problem, you might find your self sinking down making it a bit uncomfortable in the summer.

  • Sleeping much more comfortably now!

    I thought I would wait a few months before writing a review, so here it is: We really needed a new bed (ours is about 8 yrs. old), but couldn't afford to spend $1000-2000. My husband and I were waking up with sore backs every morning. I thought I would try the memory foam mattress topper first, at least to 'buy us some time'. It arrived in a rectangular box and I unfolded it and let it sit in the guest room for a day or two. Then I dragged it to our room (a bit awkward to carry, but not too bad:) and put it on our bed. We have a King size bed and it fits pretty well. I bought new deep pockets sheets at the same time and even though they don't fit all the way down to the bottom of the original mattress, we haven't had problems with them slipping off. My husband was very skeptical about the mattress topper at first, but quickly became a fan after about 2 nights. We no longer wake up with back pain. I wouldn't say it's ' like sleeping on a cloud', but it is very, very comfortable once you get used to it (after a night or 2). I have been very happy with it, especially since we don't have to buy a new bed now! I was worried about the temperature issue, but haven't noticed any problems. My husband tends to be warmer than I am and he hasn't had any issues either. I think he likes the mattress topper even more than I do! He says he sleeps better too. I have noticed that I no longer wake up several times each night to get comfortable, so that is a definite improvement. Overall, I am very happy with this mattress pad and would recommend it!

    I sleep better than I have ever slept before. It is an awesome foam mattress and worth every penny. Just be prepared to have a higher bed! My husband also sleeps much better and his body pains went away. I used to have soar muscles and would wobble around after waking up with the old mattress and now this is no longer a problem.

  • No Sleep Improvement

    My wife and I are both side sleepers and experienced shoulder pain from sleeping. We have a Sleep Number bad, and after making various adjustments in our number, still experienced this problem. I decided to purchase the Serta Memory Foam Topper based on reviews and my familiarity with the Serta brand. Unfortunately the topper made no difference in our sleep experience. It did make sleeping much warmer, which is not a good thing as we head to Summer in Chicago. Also, after about a week, we noticed some tears in the foam. The topper now sits between our mattress and box springs for lack of a better place to store the topper. We were hoping for a better sleep experience, but the topper actually made sleep more difficult. This topper might improve your sleep if you have a poor or old mattress. However, if you have a decent mattress, I'd save your money and skip this product.

  • Heaven for your bed

    This foam topper makes any mattress an oassis of comfort. All of the bumps, lumps and sore spots disappear. I have them on all my beds. Worth every penny.

  • Wow!! Sleep on a cloud!! Perfect support!!

    I've been a waterbed sleeper for over 30 years - but I decided to upgrade to latex. I love soft but solid pressure point support -- no sagging -- I bought the softest latex for the top layer and the medium for the base. The first 2 nights were ok but then I started to hurt - especially my hips. I would turn over and over trying to relieve my hip pain to no avail. I started taking anti inflammatory rx to get me through the day.... and started thinking hip surgery was in my future!! I didn't want to admit that my new $$$$ latex mattress wasn't a good fit for me. Finally, after suffering for 3 weeks I started shopping toppers. The reviews for this one sounded too good to be true.... but OMG!!! It's amazing!! Perfect support on all pressure points!!! My hip pain went away after the second night - and has not returned. I'm not taking any pain meds - just getting the right support!! I know some have commented that the topper won't last very long -- but I don't care if it only lasts a year or two - I'll buy another... and another... I did buy the California King for my eastern King - it fits perfectly so heads up ... measure your bed and check the topper dimensions before you order!! You might get a better fit from an other size! And follow the directions to open the box / topper... it's not super fragile but it does need to be handled properly so it doesn't get damaged. It is heavy and awkward to move ... the odor is minimal. If your hurting after a nights sleep -- give this topper a chance .... I'm sure glad I did!!!

That's a hard question to answer since it is a memory foam. I think the best answer is that the firmness level is totally dependent of how much weight you're putting on it. I'm a pretty big guy, compressing the foam 2-3 inches so it's fairly firm at that point. If you're a smaller, lighter person then I think it would be significantly less firm since you're not compressing it nearly as much. That said, I bought mine in a last attempt to not replace my mattress because it's too firm for me. After about a week now I think it's a lot better, though I'm getting used to foam aspect since I've always had a normal mattress. belralph on Apr 30, 2013

I agree with @belralph, the mattress is medium but your weight will have a lot to do with it as well. I am not a small person and have been using memory foam mattresses and latex mattresses for a few years now just to relieve pressure point on my body. I bought a $2000.00 mattress and I also bought this mattress topper for my guests bed. I actually prefer sleeping on this topper because it relieves pressure better but I do sink into it a bit and that takes a little getting used to but the comfort of getting a good night sleep is worth it. appgrab on May 7, 2013

Your weight will be dispersed and I doubt seriously if it would flatten. The only problem I would imagine with this topper is while you are sleeping the mattress will contour to your body and it may sink enough to make it harder to turn over or move around. olivia30 on Apr 3, 2013

I have had this topper for almost one year and it is still like new. It is defintely memory foam as I have tried numerous other toppers prior to this one. My 3 kids loved my topper so much I got one for each of them. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I have had a polyurethane topper before, this product is high quality memory foam. If we do not like this item, how are we supposed to return it? Based on the reviews, people say it is shipped tightly wrapped and once opened is impossible to get back in the box. I had sleepless nights and aches/pains. It's not significantly hotter than a regular mattress. A lighter blanket, a flat sheet, lowering the thermostat on the AC or flipping on a ceiling fan should take care of this. I have the queen size serta memory foam and the king one for my son. Both are the same as described here. I ordered the beauty rest cotton mattress cover they sell here on overstock.com it has deep stretchy sides, it covers wonderfully, fits great and stays in place. No, this is not firm at all. I would suspect it is well below 10 load deflection rating. If you want firm, find a 12-16 load deflection rating and pass on this one. prairiepoint on Mar 12, 2013

I have owned this topper for 1 year and have experienced the following; definitely firmer in the cool months of the year. I agree with one of the responses below in that his topper is soft enough to conform to your body but supportive enough to relieve any back aches you may have. It would be difficult, but could be done. Maybe even by using a large pair of sharpened scissors and compressing the area to be trimmed. Love the topper. Worth it if you can get it to fit correctly. jennifer952 on Jan 25, 2013
 
We cut down a memory foam topper given to us. The topper was a king and we had a queen. we made memory foam pillows out of the excess!! Love them!! I just used a sharp knife and went slow emmons5 on Feb 17, 2013

The higher the density the nicer the foam piece. Yes it is per cubic foot. They do not weigh the same. A king is 45 ', a twin is 24'. overstockcustomercare1 on Jan 10, 2013

No, I opened it up and let it air out for a day and it was fine to sleep on. I put a good quality mattress cover over it to avoid any smell getting through; also to keep any heat build-up from the memory foam. donsginny on Jan 9, 2013

It does not require one . However if you wish to protect the foam and keep it clean a cover is advisable. I actually just use an elastic skirted mattress pad like Item #: 11756722 . It protects the foam and holds it in place. overstockcustomercare1 on Sep 4, 2012

We are thinking of getting an extra memory foam topper and cutting to use as dog bed inserts. The best way I have found to cut foam of this type is to use an electric knife (aka turkey knife) and doing it slow, letting the knife work it's way through it for a clean cut. gunguy70 on Oct 14, 2012

I am very sorry. I do not have the specific item number you are comparing this item to. In regards to memory foam, you will always want to look at the density which is measuring how thick of foam the item is.
