This is the 2nd Serta brand topper I have purchased-this for my own new bed which is too firm for my comfort. My first was a regular 4" Serta topper for the guest bed-an older mattress that needed some help comfort wise. After sleeping on that while recovering from surgery I understood what the 'sleeping hot' complaint was all about-I truly did not need more than one thin blanket to keep warm on cool fall nights. Purchased the 'cool' comfort one for my bed 2 weeks ago and the Hot Summer Nights are not made worse by this topper-as a trial I slept last night in the guest bed and, though that is a downstairs room and thus usually cooler than upstairs, I found the sleeping to be uncomfortable on a night where it didn't get below 80 until early morning. Thus I have to say this seems a better option for those who tend to sleep hot. The SMELL took several days in the garage to begin to lessen enough for me to put the topper to use, but that is normal for these products and to be expected. The VALUE is excellent when compared to other brands of similar material. The APPEARANCE is typical, not very pleasant, however I have an excellent mattress cover I am using to top the topper, plus an old sheet between the bed and the topper to protect my expensive new bed's warranty. The COMFORT is substantial for those who prefer a softer mattress, have an older mattress or are using a futon. The FABRIC QUALITY is medium-I have purchased an actual Memory Foam mattress in the past for my King Size bed, when they first came out about 10 years ago-it was almost $300.00 and I think the material used was denser. BTW, that topper is now in use on my daughters guest futon, so it was a great value. All in all, this is better than a normal "you get what you pay for". The price is excellent and Serta seems to have come up with something to correct their 'run hot' issue.

My mattress is old and lumpy and I couldn't afford to buy a new one right now, but I had to do SOMETHING because I was waking up in pain every morning. After reading reviews here I decided to go ahead and buy a memory foam topper to see if it would help give me more life with this old mattress. Not only are the prices on Overstock for these toppers the best I've ever seen, Overstock delivers quickly. I followed instructions and rolled out the topper and let it air out in a spare bedroom for two days and I never noticed any odor after that. I couldn't believe what a difference this topper made (but you should have seen the expression on my cat's face the first time he jumped on the bed after I put it on...LOL..he literally popped in the air several times before running off because it felt so different). Even though I have some severe hammock depressions in this mattress, the topper helped smooth out some of that but not entirely, of course. The real gift is that I'm not poked by anything while sleeping. I don't wake up sore like I used to. I adore this topper and will always use one from here on out regardless of the age of the mattress. Additionally, it does not over heat me. I really like a cool mattress and can't sleep if I'm too warm. That was one of biggest fears, that is would make me too hot, which is why I bought the cool memory topper. The topper may retain body heat longer after you leave it, but it doesn't warm up any more than a regular mattress when you're on it. I would highly recommend both this product and Overstock as the place to purchase it.

Item arrived quickly rolled up in a box. Expanded to normal size within a half hour. Left it on the floor in the den to allow it to air out. It was pretty stinky. 90% of plastic smell gone within a week, so I put it on the bed. It was very comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone who bought a too firm mattress. Give just the right amount of cushioning. Foam also doesn't seem retain heat so you're not always searching for the cool spot on the mattress.

I read the other reviews before purchasing this product, and I so I decided to buy with the cool temp built in. This mattress exceeds my expectations!!!!. I thought the 2inches would not be adequate but it is. And the smell others spoke of did not exist on my mattress cover, Thank you overstock!!!

The difference between this and earlier versions is subtle, but I believe it is a little cooler. I think the major difference is that as you shift around, the spots you left warm cool off faster than before, so it is not so much that as you lay on it, it feels cooler than they used to, nor that it warms up much if any slower or less, but rather that as you shift your position around it is easier to keep finding cool spots than it used to be.

Have slept on this for 2 nights now. Bought this because the new mattress was so firm it was very uncomfortable. This foam topper helped make the bed more "cushioned" so I like it for that reason (may have been able to do the same thing with a pillow top mattress pad for less cost). For this purchase: Pros - the memory foam made the extra firm mattress more comfortable. The cal king topper was pretty true to size after the foam "expanded". Cons - I was not pleased the topper arrived in a "generic" plastic wrapper with no label, package insert, packing slip, or any other indicator that it was the "cool" memory foam that we paid more to get. The bed feels warmer with the foam topper on, but this could be due to the weather warming up (hard to tell). The foam was pretty smelly (strong chemical smell) for a couple of days. We left the sheets off during the day and the windows open so the foam could "breathe" and "air out", that helped a lot. One of the edges where the foam had been cut to size was somewhat discolored as if the cutting instrument was not clean, but the discoloration is not rubbing off on the sheets or anything. Overall, I think it will work out for what we need, but several things could have been better.

My sister loved her Serta Cool Memory Foam 2-inch Mattress Topper , so I bought one...and so glad I did, it does make a big difference in how I sleep, going to buy one for our guest bedroom & for our travel trailer.

I purchased this topper because it promised to be cool. The one I replaced held the heat so bad it was almost impossible to sleep. So far this Serta topper is great. It is just as comfortable as my old one but more importantly really lives up to maintaining neutral body temperature. I am very happy with my purchase.

I have had this topper for over 3 years, and it is still in great shape. When I'm away on a trip, I always look forward to sleeping in my bed again. It feels so plush. I got it for a hip problem, and while the hip problem didn't go away, this certainly eases my discomfort.

Purchased this for the mattress in our RV. What a difference it made. So comfortable.

Just bought new $1,000 (in sale) King Koil mattress and tried it foe for two weeks without the topper. Putting topper back on the NEW mattress today!

NOT COOL, NOT very long lasting, bad choice for a topper!

Memory foam feels very comfortable and restful sleep comes easy. I bought another one for my guest room, and I was told it was the most comfortable bed they've slept in. Very happy with purchase.

Great product. One issue is they stink for a few days. Leave it outside in the garage to air out for a few days.

We've had this mattress topper on our bed now for almost 2 years and it is so comfortable and doesn't make us sweat. It cradles your body and my hip pain is gone. It really makes a big difference in our quality of sleep. Get it , you won't be sorry.

My son loves the pad, I have bought another for another bed and prefered the product much more, came with a cover. this one tends to be heavy and very easy to tear when placing on the bed. He is fine with it, bought it to comfort his HSchool linebacker aches and pains!

This was a GREAT buy. I've had the same mattress for almost 10 years and it was starting to hurt my back, but I couldn't quite afford to buy a new mattress. I purchased this and voila... I haven't slept better. I'll even leave my boyfriend's and come home to sleep in my own bed because it's that awesome. It did have a funky smell at first, but that's to be expected - it was completely gone within a couple days. It doesn't get too hot, and I use deep pocket satin sheets over it... pure heaven!

Most products are reviewed soon after purchase. This was delivered Dec.2009 so I've had it for about 14 months. It is still like sleeping on a cloud. There was very little odor and I was able to use it the same night it was delivered. Heat retention was not a problem at all (one of my concerns when ordering). My mattress was only about 3 yrs old but a little too firm and aggravated the pains in my hips and knees. This topper has totally done away with this and I find that I can sleep through the night and wake up refreshed. However, after all this time, I find that it doesn't quite "bounce back" as it did when newer. The center where I sleep is about 3/4" lower than the rest of it--kind of like climbing out of a shallow hole to get up. Maybe it wasn't made to last much longer than this but I'll still hang on to it as long as it's still comfy & probably replace it at some point with the same brand.
