Down and feather-filled products are packaged tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove this item from its packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours for full loft recovery. In addition, products sealed in plastic packaging sometimes have a disagreeable scent because of concentrated natural fibers. A few hours of airing typically removes the odor.

This featherbed has been a great addition - adds significant comfort to our overly-hard bed. Highly recommend!Read More
This is the best feather mattress I've ever had. Baffles keep feathers in place. I do shake it out each time I change the sheets just to keep it from compressing. I never want to get out of bed!Read More
i expected the featherbed to be more fluffy. was disappointedRead More
I absoultly LOVE just LOVE LOVE LOVE this feather bed. I have had ones in the past that shift to the sides or bottom or basically where ever I am NOT but this seems to keep me comfortable and remains perfect. I have had it about a month now and fluffing it is simple and once it is done it is as good as new. I spilled some water on the bed once and it got through to the feathers but after a good drying and airing I can say there is no smell and it has had no ill effect on the bed. I just wish it was taller and more fill power .. just enough to cocoon me in every night but this is just as good. Has not effected my allergies as I was wondering if it would.... I would recommend this.Read More
I had been thinking of adding a topper featherbed to our mattress for quite awhile. After reviewing all the featherbed toppers and all the reviews from the customers on Overstock.com I ordered the Sealy Down-On-Top Baffled Featherbed. We received the topper in 2 days, which was fast. My husband was skeptical, but after sleeping on this wonderful product he is now a believer. This featherbed topper has so much improved both my and my husband's sleep. Buy this topper because it is a wonderful investment in sleeping well. I love the fact that Overstock.com posts all the reviews from the customers. It sure was a big help for me in choosing a topper.Read More
When I climb into bed now, it is wonderful. It's like falling into a cloud. But then within 5 minutes that cloud has been absorbed into the atmosphere. Or my featherbed has just flattened out. I know the top has the box stitch that's supposed to keep all the feathers in one spot so they don't move away, but the bottom has channel stitchiing. I spent $195 on this, because of the good reviews and the name. But I wished I had done more research. I am still on the look out for a featherbed that has box or baffled stitching throughout. What's the point in all this yummy comfort if it goes away so fast? I find myself moving around the bed to find the puffy parts. It's good we have a king!Read More
My husband and I have slept the last 6 yrs on a very firm and expensive memory foam bed only to wake up early every morning because our bodies are in pain! In an attempt to salavage our mattress (and to have a comfortable nights rest) I bought the featherbed after weeks of reading reviews and looking at other featherbed options. It came right on time in a huge box weighing 20lbs! Took it out of the plastic bag, gave it a good shake. No odor, no feathers and no more pain! The firm memory foam makes an amazing base and the featherbed adds all the comfort. My husband and I both love it. Honestly, no more back pain! It's no trouble giving it a shake, shake every morning before I make the bed. Planning on getting a few more for the kids. Good luck, hope you like it as much as we do.Read More
Great buy! Very happy with this purchase. Exceeded my expectations. I frequently have bad back muscles aches since I sleep on my side, but this featherbed has really alleviated these muscle issues. I'm thinking of getting a second one for my other bed! :) Pros: *Extremely soft and plush *Remains plush throughout the day *You will just melt into the fluffiness! *Your sleep will improve for sure Cons: *1-3 feathers have popped out so far. I've had the featherbed for 1 month now, but you could just put a mattress pad on top of the featherbed to avoid feathers poking out at you. *The featherbed slightly slips off the mattress a lot. Every night before I go to bed, I have to adjust the featherbed, but a deep fitted sheet might be a simple solution to this.Read More
I love this feather bed. It's so comfy, and I get the best nights sleep. But the reason I gave it a four star review, instead of five. Is because it looks nothing like the picture. It's baffled, and the baffling works great. BUT it looks a lot more plump and the baffling looks a lot deeper set in the picture then it does in real life. It also had a funny smell when we first got it out of the box, but after an hour of airing out and spraying it down with a product that rhymes with Frev-reeze. it smelled fiine. One thing i would say for sure is to make sure your bed has DEEP pockets, my deep pocket sheets are stretched to the max trying to stay on the bed...Read More
I read all the reviews on Overstock before buying this Featherbed. All the reviews were extremely positive, and I have to agree. This has to be one of the bes Down on Top featherbeds on the market for the money. When the box arrived I was surprised at the weight. This featherbed is heavy and full of down. It didn't smell at all when taken out of the box. We put it on the bed and sleft like babies the entire night. Would recommend this to all.Read More

How DEEP is this Topper? I have a firm king mattress and NEED a really soft topper, do the quils stick out and does the topper's softness last through the night???? Thank you so much for your answer.... Isabel.....75 with arthritis....
According to the site, it is about 2 inches thick. Most reviews say it is very comfortable.
1)What is the difference with a 400 thread count (found on another product) and the 250 thread count? 2) what does the term 'fill power' mean? 3) what is the price for a Queen size?
Thread count is the number of threads per inch, and a high thread count means a longer the life of your product. So, a 400-thread count is more durable than 250-thread count. Fill power refers to the amount of insulating air pockets the down had. A higher fill power means better insulating ability. We do not have this item in a queen size.
what is the percentage of down versus feather being used? thanks
It may vary, but it is close to a 50/50 split.

Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills.
