Is the pad cover water proof or resistant?
I was looking for a 2-in twen foam topper to place on top of my twin bed mattress, and found this Sealy. It was sent promptly and has a zipper cover on it, and it is very nice. I am very happy with it. But be warned--note it says "twin/full" and "queen/King" . I took a chance and ordered the twin/full not knowing WHICH size bed it would fit. I was concerned because I was told could not return it unless it was flawed. However it turned out to be a twin and am pleased with it and would like a full size now, but apparently it comes in twin. This is odd. but I am very happy with it. since I wanted a twin. size. I would think it would say it comes in twin or (probably a queen?) only....

Was in really bad need of a new mattress but while saving up to get one decided to at least try to get some comfort in the meantime, so , I purchased this topper to put on my older mattress. I was very impressed after just 3 days I felt relief from the back and hip pain I had been experiancing from sleeping on my old mattress and while I definately still need a new mattress this topper has bought me some time and muchj needed sleep. Also, once I get my new mattress this topper can go right on that one. Love this produch and the fact that it's latex which is what I wanted.Read More
I purchased this topper because latex is suppose to be cooler than memory foam. I have issues with getting hot on my pillow top mattress and thought a latex topper might solve the problem. Unfortunately, it retained even more heat than my mattress. If you don't have a similar problem, you might like it since it is very soft and comfy otherwise. Returned it with no problem.Read More

I bought this after having disastrous results with a 2.5" Canopy brand memory foam topper from Walmart. Although the Walmart topper was cheaper, it was 6" shorter in length and 5" shorter in width than my bed -- and worse yet, it made me wake up constantly because it was clingy and hot. The Sealy, on the other hand, fits my full size mattress perfect and (best yet) it's made of really good quality latex which not only cushions, but also does NOT heat you up during the night. This mattress topper has ventilation holes that work to keep things cool and, of course, it's made of latex rather than memory foam. I had a mattress cover that I'd been using for allergies -- I tried it on this mattress topper and the ventilation holes STILL do their job! I've already had this topper for about a month and it is not breaking down, sagging, wrinkling, or getting body or butt-sized holes or pits. Sealy has done a great job on this product! Oh, and compared to the Canopy -- which came with a too-small cover that the customer had to wrestle on to the floppy mattress cover, the Sealy's cover is already on the mattress cover. One last thing -- memory foam and other cheap mattress toppers have a smell that is SOOOOooo disgusting that it's impossible to even have the topper in the house for the first 3 or 4 days. Not so with the Sealy. No smell at all. I really, really recommend this product!Read More
Bought this for the very firm, non-pillow-top mattress on a platform bed. Now it is a nice supportive mattress with a little luxury. We had a guest sleep who slept on it before and after topper and he said it made a BIG difference in the comfort of the bed.Read More
There is no mention of this latex pad having zones. There are two quite large zones which are filled with air holes 3/4" across every 3/4". That's more air than latex giving me absolutely no support. Even the other three zones have over-sized air holes. In this case the latex alone is not worth the money. So sadly it goes back.Read More
I bought this for my son's room and he loved it immediately. No smell when he unwrapped it, and it fluffed up right away. The 2 inch loft is nice. I think when I purchase one for my bed I will go with a 3 inch loft. The 2 inch softens the bed considerably, but a 3 inch loft makes you feel you are sleeping on a cloud. :)Read More
nice quality, love latex. am satisfied with this purchase. I put it over a futon which has softened it up a bit.Read More
This was a good purchase. I am planning on buying a new bed, but this makes things just fine for now while I make up my mind. I like the fact that one sleeps ON a latex mattrsss pad, not IN the pad, which is how the memory foam feels to me. it is ever so comfortable, not hot, and so far has not developed any dips or dents in the area slept on most. And, when I get the new bed, it will transfer beautifully. The cover is of a crisp higher count cotton, so I expect it to be washable. Delivery was fast, it arrived in perfect condition and I was sleeping on it that night. I even plan to take it with me once I narrow down my choices for a new mattress to see how it improves things. I've even thought of buying three more and combining them, thus becoming a new mattress, but now sure how I'd get them to stay together. I think this means I'll probably be shopping for a latex mattress.Read More

Is this product 100% latex? If not what is the % latex?
Yes, this product is 100 percent latex.
Is this talalay or dunlop latex and what density? soft, medium or firm? thank you
This item doesn't have an exact density for this item. The item is more of a soft to medium level of comfort. Latex foam will naturally conform to the body pressure points and provide spring-like resistance and support. It is not firm and unlike memory foam, does not need body heat in order to soften and conform to the body.
From the previous description, this sounds like a 2 pound density foam which would give an ILD of a soft 18 pounds. It would be soft like a latex pillow but firmer than polyester batting in a pillow. If it is it will not give a lot of support. Medium density foams have ILDs of 30 and equates to 5.7 pound density Talay foams. Dunlop would feel a little firmer but less resilient than the Talay process foam. Most latex foams have a 80% syn to 20 % natural blend.

How to Buy Sheets to Fit a Pillow-Top Mattress

The height of the padding varies, but generally, manufacturers make pillow-top mattresses in depths varying from 7 to 22 inches. Specially made deep-pocket sheets for pillow-top mattresses are available; however, it is important to know the depth of your mattress before purchasing sheets. Here's how to buy the best sheets to fit your pillow-top mattress.
How to Recycle a Memory Foam Mattress Pad

There are basically three common types of mattresses used today: spring mattresses, memory foam mattresses, inflatable mattresses and feather beds. Each type has its own benefits. A mattress pad is a less expensive way to add comfort to your bed than purchasing a whole new mattress. With that said, if your mattress is lumpy or saggy, a mattress topper probably won't make much difference. If it is good, though, you have many different choices in material, price, and comfort. Whatever you get, just make sure you purchase the right size for your bed frame. Take a look below to learn more about the best-selling mattresses on the market.
How to Compare Memory Foam Mattress Toppers
An investment in a good night's sleep, a memory foam mattress topper is made to mold to your individual shape, support every part of your body, and cut down on painful pressure points that can develop when you're not properly supported during sleep. Mattress toppers also add a bit more padding to your standard mattress, making your bed even more relaxing. Here's how to choose the best one for you.
Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses
