I've been looking for smooth, crisp, old-fashioned percale sheets for so long. These are everything I've been wanting. They are just like the ones I remember from my childhood. They almost crackle when you unfold them. They're NOTHING like the flimsy, limpy, hot sateen ones you see everywhere now. A high thread-count does NOT mean crisp. You can buy 1000 thread-count and you get "limp". Percale with a 300 thread-count like these sheets is absolutely perfect. It's a nice, dense, smooth weave with a beautiful crispness. I got the white-on-white color in king-size. The fitted sheet fits a very thick mattress easily. The flat sheet is huge. The pillowcases fit king-size pillows with a generous amount left over to show the pretty design on the end. Wash the sheets and pillowcases by themselves in cold or warm water with a minimum amount of detergent and NO fabric softener. Fabric softener puts a film on the sheets and eventually changes the actual texture of the threads. If your machine has an extra rinse cycle, use it. Dry them on a delicate setting and take them right out as soon as the dryer stops. Better yet, hang them outside in the fresh air for a heavenly smell. I got rid of all of my old sheets and will be ordering additional sets of these beauties.

I was looking for the old percal 100% cotton sheets and these are not them - the construction is very poor but you could live with that if you could live wtih the sound they make - you would have to wash them before you could even attempt to use them but after I washed them I still would not put on the bed - never heard so much noise when trying to fold them - also the wrinkles are unbelieveable - you can not even iron them out - I am going to keep on looking and hope they will take them back becasue otherwide I will just trash - theese sheets cost far too much for them to be like this - never seen any sheets like these before - please do not order

OK. So when it comes to sheets you have to understand what you are asking for. When I say that I want smooth crisp sheets, I do not necessarily mean soft. I want crackly (not starched), smooth sheets. If you want soft sheets go with a sateen, they are less wrinkle but they come at the price of being limp. Percale sheets are more likely to be crisp and these fit the bill. These are going to be a loud wrinkly mess coming out of the washer and you will need to work on them. I am willing to hang dry and iron my sheets to get the feel that I want. These sheets will not make you happy if you are not OK with that. I have not tried these sheets in the dryer yet, not really sure if I want to. One reviewer said that they were like paper that you have scrunched into a ball and tried to make flat and she was right. That is what I wanted because I am willing to iron them to make them smooth. The result is a sheet that is the crispiest that I have had since my grandma’s house as a kid. If you do not have the time or desire to spend the time on the sheets or you want no wrinkles right out of the dryer, these are not the ones for you. I, however am about to buy two more sets so that I can always have a set ready and waiting. I am so happy to have finally found my dream sheets!

I had read many of the reviews about this product and can honestly say there was maybe 2 accurate. True: these sheets come out of the dryer unbelievably wrinkled, crinkled and looking like you took a sheet of paper and crunched it up in a ball then tried to flatten it out. These are not percale sheets! I would also state that percale sheets do not have a stretch factor. These sheets actually have a stretch or give like fabric used in stretch trousers. I can't imagine anyone giving these a good review.

I live in Africa and I needed some sheets that felt cool to the skin. These are thin and cool but not cheap or flimsy. The scroll embroidery is a nice touch.

I love crisp cool sheets and they are harder to find. So many sheets are limp and warm no matter the thread count or the cost. For me, these percales are great. Yes, they are crisp,cool and silky smooth. They sound and feel starched and I think they feel fabulous. I run away fast when I hear a sheet described as soft instead of smooth. Dry the flat sheet by itself, the fitted sheet by itself and then the pillowcases. It doesn't take any more time and it cuts down on the wrinkles by not having so much in the dryer at one time. I dry all my sheets this way. I also keep a clean tennis ball in my dryer and that helps with wrinkles also. Take sheets out of the dryer as soon as the cycle is finished. If you have trouble sleeping when you are too warm then these sheets help keep you cooler. I have paid twice as much for percales. These are a good buy>

These sheets are similar to what our mother used to buy in the 60's: crisp, cotton, cool sheets that do not hug your body. My sister and I have been looking for them for years. They are, in my opinion, the perfect cotton sheets. Some of the other reviews say they are noisy however I would not call them noisy, they are just not the sateen style that are super quiet. And they do not mold to your body like sateen does. In fact, that is exactly what I love about them. After the first wash (always wash before sleeping on them), they are simple perfection. As a side bar, these sheets are healthier for you as they easily absorb moisture that you emit during the night where sateen tends to repel moisture. I became a linen fanatic 10 or so years ago so am always on the hunt for the perfect cotton sheets. These are a WINNER!

There is just nothing that beats old fashioned percale sheets, especially on a hot summer night. I have my mom's and grandmother's old sheets, but they are wearing thin. I needed sheets for the guest bedroom, found these, and took my chances they were just like my old percale ones. The greatest compliment was when my guest slept on them, asked me the next morning what kind of sheets they were, I said percale, and she said she LOVES them, they're so crisp. Mind you, I hadn't sprinkled them and used a dry iron like my mom did in the old days, nor will I. I don't mind some wrinkles out of the dryer, and they come out with use or with folded storage good enough to please me. Bright white, crisp, cool on a hot night, I'm very pleased to still find good old fashioned percale sheets. And the embroidery adds an elegant touch. Thank you, overstock.com.

I wanted the feel of the ole time crisp sheets that feel crisp and clean to me and these fit the bill. Love both sets and intend to buy more.

I love these sheets. The gold embroidery on the pillow cases and top sheet really make the set look rich. I prefer the percale to the regular cotton because they feel so much smoother and satiny.

I looked long and hard for sheets like these. I'm not a fan of super soft sheets and prefer a crispy cotton percale to the soft sheets you find in the stores now. These are just perfect for my liking. The scroll embroidery is a nice finish touch, and the pockets are deep enough to accommodate my extra thick mattress. They wrinkle a little after washing them, but that is not a concern for me. My only disappointment is that they are not as thick a fabric as other cotton percales I have, but these were not as expensive either. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set.

I prefer percal cotton sheets and they are becoming harder to find. I don't like the egyption cotton or the sateen--they have a tendency to pill and become scratchy. While I prefer a heavier cotton weight than these sheets, I have been unable to find any, so these are the next best thing. I will order more.

I was looking for the old fashioned percale sheets my Grandmother used. I wanted that crisp fresh feel. These were not as heavy as I wanted, but for the price they were nice sheets. I ordered the white w/pink trim. They came out of the dryer & went straight on the bed & were not too wrinkled. If you leave them in the dryer they will be wrinkled. I am very pleased w/ the sheets overall & would recommend them. The price was good too.

Percales are the best weave, you don't have to pay for 500-600 count, but that's what it is, it's all in the weave... And it is the weave that has always been the very best! You need to have more percale options.

I love crisp white sheets for summer and it is almost impossible to find percale in the stores so it was great to find these on Overstock. They were exactly what I wanted.
