After putting a LOT of planning into a remodel of my small 50's master bathroom, I wanted to create a tropical Zen-like space and this teak bath mat totally adds to the feel! I've always had cotton terry bathmats and while they feel nice underfoot, with only a shower stall, they are a pain to dry. The other problem I have had is that my dogs love to hang out on the cold tile and claim the toweling mats as their bed which quickly leads to a very furry mat and in turn, furry feet when I step out onto it! Gotta love 'em, but Ewwww... lol This teak mat is solidly built, the perfect size and dries very quickly. I've not had it long enough to have to do maintenance on it yet, but I would imagine a periodic scrubbing outside with bleach/water, drying and oiling would keep it hygienic and clean while retaining the good looks with maybe a wipedown with alcohol in between. Its finish is non-slip and it feels very sturdy under my feet, with no flexing as they used abundant screws to construct this instead of stapling like some of the cheaper products. The base doesn't scratch my rather tender travertine tiles as they very thoughtfully again, screwed on, six large rubber feet that act as shock absorbers. The corners are rounded and the wood is sanded smooth and offers no chance of splinters or stubbing your toe on a sharp edge. Nice - great construction with thought put into the details. I'm sure if you choose this teak mat, you will be very happy with it!
