Title says it all. These pillows are VERY soft (ie. not firm) so side sleepers like myself my find their head and neck too low. If they had a 1 to 1.25 inch core or bolster of traditional foam these would probably have been perfect for me.

I bought this pillow because I have been experiencing neck pain and fatigued shoulders when I wake up. I have a water based pillow that had worn down (even when I add more water) so I thought this would be more supportive based on reviews and ancient history. I received it very quickly, as always, and everything arrived exactly as described. Filled the pillow up with about half the hulls. I personally find it too hard and small to sleep with so I bought another water pillow, but I am now using it as a supportive neck bolster pillow for the sofa when I watch TV. Helps keep the neck in more of its natural C shape instead of pressing it flat against a pillow. I really like it for that purpose and plan to make a more decorative cover.

Medium firm is too firm. The pillows are lovely and very high quality. They are just too firm for me. I use them as back bolsters because they are too firm to use while sleeping.

This pillow will never go flat so long as you don't do anything to compress it. It provides slightly more resistance than air. It does rebound very quickly, but one by itself is inadequate for me. If I had three or four and stuffed them all into the same pillowcase, it would probably work out ok. I am a side/belly sleeper and need other firmer pillows to bolster this one up to be usable. However, it is very comfortable to the touch. I do have some concerns about the fragility of the pillow. It will shred very easily and after a few linen changes small chunks have begun flaking off when I change the pillowcase. I found the zippered cover that came with it to be counter-productive to the soft pleasant bed I was trying to make. It is very coarse, stiff, and makes crinkly noises like a hospital pillow--or a paper bag. The coarseness transmits through the pillowcase I put it in, but without the cover, the pillow is more readily damaged by changing the pillowcase.

I have a bulge disc. This product is GOOD, but needed to be modified, by having my bolster part (round), sewed onto the pillow itself, creating a a triangle lift. See, my neck is SMALL, the round part of the bolster was excellent however the pillow itself never got to my head! my head rested in the groove between the pillow and the round bolster, which wasn't okay. Once tacked together and lifted onto the pillow, it works wonderfully and pillow cases also could work.
