Down and feather-filled products are packaged tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove this item from its packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours for full loft recovery. In addition, products sealed in plastic packaging sometimes have a disagreeable scent because of concentrated natural fibers. A few hours of airing typically removes the odor.
We recommend that this item is fluffed at least once a week to maintain down distribution.

I bought this pillow in King Size Firm version, which was the correct choice, considering that natural material pillows rating is never the same as polyester filled ones. This item is made in USA from 88% duck feather and 12 % down stuffed inside 100% Chinese cotton, making finished size 20X36 inches. After my last feather/down pillow quit, I really tried for a few days couple of those polyester plastic stuffed products called also ┐pillow┐, and result was mild headache every day in the morning. Type of head support in bed is very personal preference, and since I am used to the traditional Old World bedding the logical choice was to get normal pillow. I could not find decent product for less, until I found that Overstock is selling many good quality pillows as well. This Personal Choice 300 is soft yet it can be shaped, and I noticed that Firm version gives it enough support without going flat, with no wrap-around effect or overheating. I was a bit skeptical about that 120 bucks retail price on it, until I actually had a chance to see it in person. Also no smell, no sticking out feathers and raised gusset with darker rim finish creates nice luxurious look. Consider the ambient temperature of your bedroom: this is 88/12 combination for warmer climate or for summer, which means that if you need fuller shape, it needs to be 60/40 more or less proportion of feather to down. When is says that Firm King is filled with 54 ounces, consider that it is feather/down combined weight, not the capacity. This is very good product if you are looking for traditional natural pillow: just be certain to pick the correct type matching your preference.Read More
I like a pillow with substance so ordered two of these in a Firm King. My last two pillow were of another name brand which somehow managed to 'leak' feathers with every pillowcase change so I got in the habit of double pillowcasing (is that a word?) each one which solved that problem. These, however, have a much heavier and sturdier cover which prevents feather leakage in the first place. As an added bonus, for some reason they don't get as hot as other pillows which may have something to do with the dual core and gusseted construction. The firmness is just right - not like you're sleeping on a rock, mind you, but rather semi soft on the outside but firm in the middle. In any case and as is obvious in my review, I'm more than satisfied with the overall performance of these pillows. Hopefully you will be too.Read More
After having the same feather pillow for years, i decided to upgrade. I scoured every review of every pillow on Overstock and was impressed with the feed back on these so I went for it. I am not one to spend more then $10 on a pillow, so I had very high expectations. Boy, was I pleased as punch!! Your typical feather construction, no matter how high the thread count, always leaks feathers and you get an occasion poke or two. Well, this is no typical feather pillow! I have had them for a year now and have not found a single rouge feather nor have i been poked once. They are as firm yet full and fluffy as the day they arrived. They are almost too full as it is a bit difficult to get them in an out of a pillow case, but it is a fair trade. The box construction is perfect and gives the perfect support and hight to nestle nicely around the back of your neck. I am ordering another set to use on the spare bed. These pillows were constructed so well, we will have them for many years.Read More
These are beuatifully made down pillows at a great price. I purchased two of the medium density. They are a little softer than I like, but my fault - I should have gone for the firm.Read More

The one pillow that SURVIVED is good, I still have it and like it. The other pillow "blew up" within 2 weeks of purchase as my Husband was putting it in a pillowcase and feathers went everywhere so as I said.....hit and miss.Read More
This was my husband's favorite until he tried the tommy bahama 700 fill pillow. It's a little less firm than that, so not as helpful in preventing neck pain for side sleepers with broad shoulders. Maybe a better choice for smaller framed side sleepers.Read More

Great pillows - ordered medium firmness and these are perfect. they maintain their shape and provide the right amount of support for me.Read More
This pillow is firmer than my tempurpedic bed! My other pillows are soft and medium, so when I bought firm, I thought it would be a step up from that, but this is too firm for me.Read More

How to Wash Throw Pillows
Part of keeping a clean house is making sure all of your decorative accessories are clean. Throw pillows covered in delicate fabrics, such as wool or silk, will have to be dry-cleaned, as will throw pillows stuffed with down or feathers. Foam-filled throw pillows with cotton covers or other washable materials, however, can be washed -- some even by machine. Nevertheless, even if a pillow appears washable, always consult the washing instruction label before attempting to wash a throw pillow -- or you may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you remove the pillow from the washing machine.
Bed Pillows vs Throw Pillows
Dress up your bed with both throw pillows and bed pillows for a cozy, relaxing spot. While down bed pillows are functional and provide support and comfort for the sleeper, throw pillows serve as accents, adding texture and color to the bed. Compare the qualities of down pillows and memory foam pillows to see which will provide you with the comfort level you need.
Best Pillow-top Mattresses for Back Pain
The key to a good night's sleep when you have chronic back pain is as simple as choosing a good pillow-top mattress. Choosing the best mattress involves knowledge of your personal needs and preferences. To get a comfortable night's sleep, start by choosing a pillow-top mattress made from the right materials for you. Next, choose your preferred thickness. Finally, have firm sleep support underneath the cushions of the pillow-top. Below, you'll learn the best pillow-top mattresses for back pain. Choose the materials: Pillow-top mattresses are made from a variety of materials, so choosing the one that is right for you can make all the difference in the world. People with muscle pain should consider down pillow-top mattresses, which provide a cocoon to sleep in. Those with back issues will generally prefer memory foam pillow-top mattresses, which conform to the body and offer consistent support to areas like the lower back. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's information regarding the recommended weight allowances for these types of pillow-tops. Consumers who are heavier than the recommendations may find that the pillow-top cushion compresses in uncomfortable ways, leaving the mattress lumpy. Determine the thickness: Pillow-top mattresses come in a variety of thicknesses, from just 2 inches to 8 or more inches deep. Like choosing the right materials for your pillow-top, choosing the right depth is vital to getting a good night's sleep. Thinner pillow-top mattresses will allow more of the support from the remainder of the mattress to come through and will not develop body indentations as pronounced as those in a deep pillow-top. Pillow-top mattresses that are too soft may fail to provide back support and cause an increase in back pain. However, deep pillow-top mattresses are excellent for customers who suffer from fibromyalgia or other chronic pain. Check the warranty: Just as you would with any other purchases of its size, check the warranty of your pillow-top mattress. Most manufacturers will provide limited, pro-rated replacement warranties for manufacturer's defects, and some will provide a "comfort guarantee." Others may have specific conditions that must be met in order to maintain the warranty, such as having a boxed spring by the same manufacturer. Take note of any special conditions for the warranty and keep the paperwork. View All Mattresses Back to Guides Directory View All Mattresses

How to Choose Down Comforters on Sale

Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills. How to Buy a Down Comforter
Two major considerations when purchasing a down comforter are content and construction. The Federal Trade Commission has standards set that specify labeling procedures for products that contain down. If the label of a down comforter reads 100 percent down, the comforter must contain down feathers exclusively. The same is true if the label reads pure down or all down. Most down comforters are made with goose down, but some may include down feathers from other species of fowl. Look below to learn how to buy a down comforter.
