These came up under a search for percale sheets so I did not see they were sateen until ordered. That was my fault. However, I never expected something supposedly made of organic cotton to clearly be loaded with chemicals. Perhaps they are made with organic cotton. The chemical stench is noticeable when you open the package. It fully blossoms and becomes overwhelming when you get them wet in the washer. It smells like a cross between bug repellent and disinfectant. Unfortunately I threw a few other things in with them and now those are just as stinky and sticky feeling. I have washed the sheets twice and the smell is still there. There is also some sort of coating that has come off in the wash water that feels icky if you put your hand in the water. After two washes they are pilling and look used. The fabric itself had flaws in it, although I did not see these listed as seconds. If this third wash and a soak in baking soda doesn't remove the smell and coating, I will try to return them. Hanging on a line might help, but I live in a condo and can't do that. If you are buying organic to be good to yourself or the environment these are not the way to go. The chemicals in the processing negate any benefit of organic cotton. Also any new sheets that require multiple washings before you can consider using them certainly don't save resources.
-------you'll like these sheets. I bought them as an alternate set and just to see how the 'organic' sheets felt as opposed to regular sheets. They are pretty scratchy after 3 washings is how they feel. VALUE is, of course, excellent considering anything called Organic usually sells for more. APPEARANCE is nice-I got Ivory as white and ivory were all that were available when I purchased. COMFORT-not so much. But I'll just keep washing and hoping they soften. Hanging on the line did not seem to increase the scratchy feeling, as opposed to another sheet set I bought at the same time. I do not use fabric softener in my wash. FABRIC QUALITY-good for the TC. If organic is how you like to buy (and it is for me) and you are willing to settle for less soft sheets than those of higher TC. or sheets processed more to make them softer, you will be a happy purchaser. OTOH if you must have softness, you probably won't be very pleased with this sheet set.
I like these sheets, but it appears from the package that the fibers are not organic. The 'brand' is Organic Cotton, but the fiber content says 100% sateen cotton. Overstock's description and the packaging is misleading.
Love the sheets - very soft and my daughter asks for them. Only small downside - they are a tad thin.
First time buying organic sheets. My mom had some and I loved them, so thought I'd find some to buy. Googled for them, WOW very expensive. I then tried overstock.com, found these, and ordered them. They are amazingly soft (wrinkle less if taken out of dryer slightly damp and put on the bed asap, but even not doing so they don't wrinkle badly), feel very luxurious, but the aspect both my husband and I appreciate the most is that they're very warm!! A bit like the warmth flannel gives. We crawl in bed and do not have to wait for our body heat the warm the brrrrrr cold sheets up (end of December it's cold in bed). We're wondering what this will be like in the summer - they'll probably be cooler than normal sheets. The only possible negative, and I mean possible, is that the sheets are a bit thin, so not sure how many washings/uses they'll hold up to. The thinness is probably why they feel so luxurious, almost like having a second skin settle on you when you get under them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone buy them...great bang for the low buck.
Overall I'm happy with these sheets. As you can see online there are very few options for organic sheets. I found the fitted sheet a little difficult to put on my queen bed. But overall I'm happy with these sheets.
These sheets have a smell even after three washings. If they are organic, then they have been treated or stored with something non-organic.... and even if regular cotton they would be unacceptable. I have them airing in the sun now. We'll see what happens. Some of the reviews said they pilled. I didn't find that, but the odor is too strong for me.
I'm very pleased with these sheets. The price is amazing for 100% organic cotton. They're soft, but not shiny like sateen usually is, which is one reason I like them, as normally I'm not a sateen sheet fan. I got an extra set of pillowcases, and one of them had a teeny tiny flaw, but I'm still very glad I bought these, and will probably buy them again when I need sheets again. In fact, in spite of that flaw, the workmanship in general is better than on many sheets I've seen while shopping around. As another reviewer noted, the blue color is really more of a pearl gray, but it is very pretty and I was already prepared for this because that reviewer mentioned it. I haven't had any problems with pilling, and the fit is fine. I'd definitely recommend them.
I just received this product and was so disappointed that it was not certified organic cotton - the brand name of the company is organic cotton - I spoke with customer service at overstock and they confirmed that it was not certified organic. hope this review will prevent someone from making same mistake as me.
I bought the sheets for my daughter, but she was on a trip, so I got to try them out first. They were so soft and comfy. The color was true to the picture on the website.. Again, Overstock.com has made my life easier and more affordable with great quality organic products. Thank you.
I bought Organic bed sheets after reading a nutrition book that recommended it strongly because cotton is one of the crops with the most pesticides sprayed on it. Your body is enveloped in it during sleep for 6-8 hours straight. I bought the baby blue and the color is beautiful and the fabric is the softest I have ever used on any bed. I loved it so much I bought the white set and am thinking of buying a set for my parents and sister. The price is excellent compared to others. I washed them before writing this review and it did feel that the softness of the original fabric was lost a bit even though I used a natural "green" detergent. Still love it and I am pretty sure you will too. It is made in India and you know how soft materially and aesthetically their fabrics are to the touch and eyes.
I bought these sheets in the green color - the color is beautiful, nice pale sagey-limey green. They were very soft when I first started using them, but they started to pill after sleeping on them for a couple of weeks (I tend to sleep in one spot). They still look nice, but not as soft all over as I'd like.
These sheets arrived and I noticed the bag they were packed in was made out of the same material the sheets were made of and the bag was ripping in several places. I pulled a pillow case out of the bag and sure enough it was ripping at the seams. You can literally softly pull material and it tears and it's not a sewing defect it is the actual material ripping. These are originally suppose to be $160? Crazy... I can't understand the good reviews unless they use different material for different batches of sheets. These sheets are indeed soft but that is a mute point if the sheets fall apart. I am sending them back and anticipating a refund.
My biggest problem with these sheets is that the fitted sheet is quite tight. I have to struggle to pull it over the corners of the mattress, and it still doesn't fully fit. If your mattress is even *remotely* deep -- and mine really isn't that deep -- the fitted sheet will be too tight. The material may be a bit on the course side, but my husband and I find it comfy, especially while the weather is very cold. It kind of feels like cozy flannel. The country of origin doesn't matter in this case because a lot of organic cotton products come from India. I bought some expensive organic cotton sheets and towels from The Company Store, and they were made in India, too. All in all, I would say these sheets are fine, but not the best organic sheets on the market. The color of the pale green set is also not that attractive, in my opinion.
i am not sure if we should use these a drop clothes or just chuck them. After being washed they got all pilly and stringy. They aren't pleasant to sleep on.
The sheets are lovely out of the package but started pilling at the first wash. I keep hoping that it will get better but after 5-6 washes they still feel knobby. I like a smooth sheet and these are not smooth! Organic CAN be smooth. These are not. Color is true and sizing is right. I will keep looking for a better organic sheet.
I bought these in 2 colors and I love them. I was SO EXCITED to see an organic product on O.co It makes me really happy to see more and m ore every time I look. I would buys these again in a second!
Sheets were soft, which I liked. I had to re-sew the corners early on.

These are comfortable and affordable organic cotton sheets. They washed beautifully and feel crisp (but not scratchy) right out of the dryer. I can only imagine they will soften more and more with each wash. They do not feel flimsy or thin and I believe will hold up well for a long time. Excellent value for organic sheets!!
