The product we received is as advertised. It is 4" memory foam. It is very soft. It does have an awful smell to it but that went away after about a week. It has been 2 weeks now and there is no smell. We have a Sleep Number bed and we find it too hard to sleep on so we purchased a 4" Mattress Pad 2 years ago that was a combination of 2" memory foam plus 2" supportive foam. We have to replace it now as we woke up with shoulder pain. I thought 4" Memory foam was the answer but it is very soft and does not give any support. I am a side sleeper and my hips sink all the way through the 4" foam. In hind side, we should have probably bought another 4" mattress pad with 2" Memory foam on top and 2" firmer foam underneath. At first I had a lot of neck pain with this 4" foam as you sink in so much. After using a memory foam pillow, that has gone away now. The mattress does it's job in taking away the shoulder pain, but it is very difficult getting used to sinking in 4" and having a hard time rolling over. After this mattress, we will probably go back to the 2" memory foam with 2" supportive foam. I thought it was close to the Tempur Pedic mattress, but the IFD is too low at 12 and would need to be higher to be of any support. Time will tell how long this foam will last but my guess is max of 2 years. Don't buy this 4" Memory foam if your bed is failing as the 4" foam will just follow the indentation and will probably give you horrible back pain.
