I have had other Northern Nights products and like the quality. The down comforter meets expectations. It has the colors I was looking for. It's size is generous. Would have liked some accessories to go with it - shams, skirt, valance or curtains.
After purchasing (and returning) a similar comforter in ivory which I found to be more of a dull, brownish, cream, I am very pleased with this comforter in yellow. The yellow is pleasant but not overpowering - a much happier tone than the ivory. To my surprise, the actual floral print is a mix of light green, burgandy, and reddish-orange colors which I admit is different from what I pictured, but happen to be perfect for my own personal taste. I give this product five stars, but I warn those who are interested in neutral colors that the yellow might not be the option for you!
So far, we love the comforter -- I bought king size for my queen size bed and it is perfect. Nice weight -- not too hot for indoor sleeping -- we are in upstate NY but still can be too warm at night. The only problem-- the comforter came with a slash in the fabric. It was the last one in stock so I couldn't exchange it and managed to fix it so that it's not noticeable.
I purchased the full/queen in gray. After reading reviews I had a pretty good idea what to expect. I was replacing a microfiber down comforter that was incredibly soft to the touch. I knew it would be hard to find something as soft as my original comforter. This one, sadly, was not. But I am not disappointed. It's a very smooth cotton feel. Not scratchy but not microfiber soft either. It's very fluffy and warm (too warm some nights). There was no smell and it didn't take long to puff up after being packaged. It does make crinkle noises when you move it, but it's never been distracting at night. I purchased the full/queen size. It fits a normal queen bed (with boxspring) pretty well but there is NO extra material hanging over on the sides or foot of the bed. If you have a deeper mattress or like your comforter to hang down a lot, the full/queen size will disappoint. As for color, it was exactly as shown on my computer monitor. I purchased the gray hoping it would match my wall colors. My walls are a Sherwin Williams shade called "Utterly Beige" which is a gray/beige color. It matched the walls perfectly! I am very happy with this purchase and would buy it again. The only thing I would change is to make it a few inches longer all around (king was sold out).
I bought this in a king size although I have a queen sized bed. I wanted more overlap. The color is more of a lite aqua, It is a lite weight comforter. It has both teal and tan flowers on it. Good price though. I would recommend it for someone who do not want allot of bulk.
I had been searching for a quality, all season down comforter for some time when I discovered this one on sale on Overstock. It is absolutely perfect for those chilly spring or fall nights. It has truly sewn baffled boxes, with no down shifting or escapees. This comforter has great loft and looks great once the down has fluffed up. The cotton cover is of nice quality, with a touch of sheen and does have a "crackle" sound when moved about, but I personally do not mind the crisp sound of cotton. I think with use and washing the crackle with dissipate. I ordered the light turquoise and it is such a nice soft shade of aqua. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, as I feel that I received a quality product for a lot less money!
Please make sure you realize that this is only 75% down when you are comparing prices. It is a 550 - 23oz fill, which has a nice loft and weight to it. It will keep you warm in moderate temperature, but i would not recommend it as a standalone comforter in anything under 55° room temperature. The baffle box still allows a lot of shifting. If you are a restless sleeper, don't be surprised if the bulk of the feathers end up on the sides of the comforter instead of the middle. One of the other reviewers mentioned the comforter making a lot of noise, while the material does make noise when shifting and/or moving, it seems reasonable, just be aware that the material will make noise. I am content with the product, the color works marvelously in my room. The rating on Overstock said it was medium-warmth but i would rate it light/year round. I keep my thermostat at 70° and it works great at night.
I have never purchased a down comforter before because I couldn't find one with a nice print. Loved the color, (ivory) and the print and was happy I bought the King for my Queen. I returned it after I tried what I could, without ironing!! to remove the wrinkles...couldn't stand how sloopy it looked!
The color did not look like the photo at all, I ordered the ivory and it looked more like the yellow sample. The quality was not exactly what I was expecting, it feels like plastic and is very thin. Not what I expected, doesn't feel or look great.
This down comforter is made for fall or spring, not really for the winter season, as it is a bit thinner than I needed for the winter season ini the Eastern Corridor. The floral design is a delight without being tacky. I like that the design is not your normal white/off white baffle box design. It looks like a duvet cover on top of a down comforter. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for medium warmth.
I've been watching this comforter for several weeks. I needed a full/queen but only the twin size was available. When the Ivory full/queen became available, I bought it immediately--the gray was my first choice followed by ivory, so I was OK with that. It's ample enough for my queen size bed (platform with only a mattress) without the weight of a larger comforter. The fabric is a crisp cotton. While others have complained that it's noisy/wrinkled, this doesn't bother me. I have several cotton down comforters (NOT microfiber) and this one is no different. Yes, it's going to wrinkle because cotton does that. I washed it and it fluffed up nicely in the dryer. I don't really like duvet covers because of the added weight, and it's hard to find a down comforter with a gentle pattern like this one. I think the ivory is clean looking and the colors in the print are a nice contrast--they have a little more punch than I expected but over time they'll settle down. We have dogs, so my bedding is in and out of the laundry frequently. It's held its shape (no feathers poking out) and for us, it's plenty warm even though it's not that dense--perfect for the transition of fall into winter. I hope Overstock is able to get the gray color as I would buy that one as well.
