This quilt is not too girly and has several colours that will match a variety of rooms. It has a bit more blue in it than you can see in the photos here, but for me that was not a problem. The larger violets are blue, the smaller ones are purple and there are plenty of greens in the leaves and some yellow in the flowers to make this quilt very versatile. My room is painted lilac and this quilt works wonderfully.Read More

Popular Types of Quilts
Out of all the bedding made, quilts may be the most diverse. Quilts are produced in all kinds of colors, patterns, sizes, styles and types. If you're looking for a quilt but don't know where to start, take a look at the popular types of quilts below to learn more about this beautiful kind of bedding. Amish quilts: These beautiful quilts reflect the Amish way of living and feature solid colors, deep hues, geometric patterns and very little embellishment. Amish quilts contain the highest quality of construction and stitching, and, sometimes, the wonderful stitch patterns (scrolls, feathers) contrast with the simple backgrounds of their quilts. Applique quilts: These quilts use a French needlework technique where fabric pieces are sewn onto another piece of material to create a design. Applique is used extensively in the quilting process and is not to be confused with patchwork. Patchwork pieces are joined together; applique is sewn on top of the whole piece. Baltimore album quilts: Baltimore album quilts came from Maryland in the early 1800s. Each block in the design of these quilts is appliqued differently, often in ornate floral patterns. Bangladeshi quilts: These quilts are made with layers of Saree cloth. Saree cloth is silk cloth used by women of India to wrap and fold around the body as a garment. The cloth is usually 40 to 60 inches wide by 6 yards long. These quilts are used as bedding or as decorative pieces. Bargello quilts: Bargello quilts are created with offset squares in an up-and-down geometric "V" pattern. The small squares of different fabrics and the colorful designs make these quilts true works of art. Hawaiian quilts: Hawaiian quilts are not pieced, and they usually showcase a large, symmetrical applique in the center of the quilt. Most often the background is white or another solid color. Patchwork quilts: Patchwork quilts are constructed of many small pieces of fabric which are put together in an improvised or irregular pattern. This is a well-known quilt style, and examples of historical patchwork quilts are found in many museums. Ralli quilts: Ralli quilts, sometimes known as rilli quilts, are traditional quilts made in India or Pakistan. There is an abundance of embroidery as well as applique on the patchwork patterns. Star quilts: Star quilts are created with a large star shape, or several star shapes, dominating the pattern. Wedding ring quilts: Wedding ring quilts are crafted in a design of interlocking rings. This pattern goes far back in history: in the fourth century it was used to decorate drinking cups in Rome. Wedding ring quilts are highly popular and make wonderful wedding gifts. If you're looking for a gift to please an engaged couple, you can't go wrong with a wedding quilt. Bedding always makes a significant gift for the bride and groom, and a quilt with coordinating Egyptian cotton sheets can be even better. View All Quilts Back to Guides Directory View All Quilts

Nicks, scratches and dings all have the potential to turn a beautiful wooden dining room set into an eyesore, but often the damage can be easily reversed. With the arrival of your new baby drawing closer, you'll want to do everything you can to prepare, including furnishing and decorating the baby nursery. There are also decals that display words or phrases, such as well-known lines from nursery rhymes, prayers or beloved children's books. These look especially precious when posted on the wall above a baby's crib or cradle and can set the theme for the whole room. Framed art. As in any room, framed art can be the best way to add interest and beauty to nursery walls. Art is always personal, so choose a piece or grouping that speaks to you and your family. A lovely print of a mother and child or a toddler with a stuffed toy might move you, or you may prefer something whimsical and bright. If you have not yet settled on a theme or color for your baby's room, the perfect piece of framed art could be your best inspiration. Quilts. Spell out your little one's name with lovely, polished silver letters hanging from ribbons above the crib or use bright, colorful letters to showcase the alphabet or your little one's initials. You can add letters to your child's nursery in a variety of ways, from hand-painting them right onto the wall to utilizing lovely lettered wallpaper. You can pair the skirt set with any type blouse, including silk, cotton or polyester. For a clean look, wear a skirt and jacket with a blouse that easily tucks in and does not create a bulge or pull around the skirt waist. You can also pair women's skirts with separate jackets if you want to mix up the wardrobe. Choose a slimming pencil skirt. One of the most common and fashionable skirts to wear is the pencil skirt. It pairs nicely with a variety of blouses, sweaters and jackets, making it a versatile part of the wardrobe. The pencil skirt is flattering to all body types, from very thin to curvaceous women. The skirt's silhouette is straight at the waist and narrows at the knees, allowing it to hug all of the curves of the body. Look for a pencil skirt that has a slit or pleat in the back near the hem to allow for increased movement while walking. Find an appropriate casual skirt. Casual skirts can be professional and dressy enough to wear to work. For the office, look for skirts made of cotton, khaki material, linen or even wool to provide a comfortable option. Keep casual skirts mid-length, allowing them to fall either slightly above or below the knee cap. View All Skirts Back to Guides Directory View All Skirts
