I have been looking to purchase a down comforter for about 6 months. I finally purchased this comforter about 2 weeks ago and have been absolutely thrilled with every aspect of it. The baffle box is true and there is no shifting of down. The fabric is soft and looks nice even with out a duvet cover! Directly out of the box there was no smell, and within a few days it really started to fluff up. This is a great value with terrific quality! I would reccomend this product to ANYONE in search of a down comforter!
I just got this comforter yesterday, and it is better than I expected. It is light, lofty and fills my silk duvet perfectly. I have owned several high quality down comforters, and this is one of the best. Top it off with 2 day shipping and that wonderful "O" customer service, and what you have is sheer perfection. Purchase with confidence!
The down comforter I received was not as advertised, in short, if you don't want to read the full review: 1. It's not 100% down--it's "minimum" 75% down and not white goose down 2. It does not have a fill power of 650--it's 550 3. It's by Royal Velvet 4. It does not have a 330 TC cotton cover--it's a 275 TC cover 5. I got the Queen, which is advertised as having 40 oz. of down--it's actually 28 oz. 6. The "baffle box" construction is only for aesthetics--there were empty channels and the "down" was all over the place, but not the most important--the middle. Now, the story: I received the shipment 3 days after I placed the order (great service) but was disappointed to find a light to medium weight down comforter, which was not my intention as the ad stated the comforter had a 650 fill count--I was looking for heavy weight comforters. The "baffle box" construction was a joke as well since I held up the comforter to the light and saw that none of the fill was in its place, some channels were empty, others were filled with what I would describe as fiber fill, not down at all. There is some down in there, but not much. The brand name is Royal Velvet and it had light blue piping around the edges and the brand was embroidered near the bottom of the comforter. The label on the comforter read "minimum 75% down" and where it originally stated "white goose down", the "white goose" was whited-out. I tried it for one night and it didn't even keep me warm...that's one night in California, where it doesn't even get THAT cold compared to other places (it was in the 50's). Thinking that Overstock had sent me the wrong item, I called them and explained the situation. I was told I indeed got the wrong item and they would send out replacements (I bought 2). I received those 3 days later but they were the SAME thing. I sent them back. NONE of the 4 comforters I received had any packaging information on them--you know, the information on the package, inside the plastic bag that tells you the item specifics. That's pretty fishy and now I understand why. I did some research on the Royal Velvet product line and found that this comforter is from their Legacy collection with a 275 thread count cotton cover, 550 fill power, and the Queen size has a 28 oz. fill--NOT what's advertised here, at 330 TC cover, 650 fill power, 40 oz. down. Overall, Overstock's service was great--but the quality of this item is NOT as advertised. I'm very disappointed to be mislead. Shame on Overstock for advertising this product as better than what it really is!
Wonderful!! No smell, very fluffy, excellent product for the $$$. Would highly reccommend!!!
I look at our as being down fanatics. My 2 daughters each have blankets on thier beds and we also use one on the guest bed. The down comforter we used previouslyon our bed, I had custom ordered, and made an "investment" in that purchase. We were happy with that blanket, but it was hungarian down. The Siberian down feels completely different. So lightweight, like a cloud draped over your body. I will never again go back to any other down. If I had any complaints on this comforter it would be that the fabric could be a bit softer, I am very spoiled though and at this price you would never find anything of the same quality. By the way to all the complaints about shifting down, if you give your comforter a hard shake, about once a week. The feathers will automatically reposition themselves. This is required when owning down products.
I purchased this for my daughter for the year she lived in NYC. The only complaint was that it was so warm and comfy it was hard for her to get up on cold mornings to go to work. Nice comforter. She brought it home to Texas later and we had to give it away...too hot for Texas!
Bought this six years ago and still using it and still keeps us warm in winter (Los Angeles winter). The only thing is that you have to keep rotating it to keep all the goose down from collecting at the bottom of the comforter.
Not too heavy, yet great year around comfort. We live in Wisconsin and it's great for those cold nights-yet comfortable enough to use in the summer when the Air is on. I have bought several Comforters from O.com and have never been disappointed.
This thing is amazing and so comfortable... So very nice on a cold winter night...
Not great, not terrible. The comforter is not a true boxed baffle design. There are channels which allow the "down" to migrate to the edges which is tirelessly irritating. At some point, overstock changed their description of this comforter. It used to be billed as a 330 thread count siberian down comforter. Several other reviews will confirm this. It is now billed as a 300 thread count down blend. It is neither of these things. I have had this comforter for about a year. While it served its purpose it was marginal at best. The shifting "down" and lack of real down make this not a very good value for the money. The comforter recently tore and I discovered that it is predominantly a feather filled comforter. Additionally "300 thread count" is indeed a generous estimate of the fabric. Not great, not bad, just mediocre. I likely would not buy again because of the false advertising. For a cheap summer comforter it is ok,or possibly for a guest or child's bed.
