The down comforter I received was not as advertised, in short, if you don't want to read the full review:
1. It's not 100% down--it's "minimum" 75% down and not white goose down
2. It does not have a fill power of 650--it's 550
3. It's by Royal Velvet
4. It does not have a 330 TC cotton cover--it's a 275 TC cover
5. I got the Queen, which is advertised as having 40 oz. of down--it's actually 28 oz.
6. The "baffle box" construction is only for aesthetics--there were empty channels and the "down" was all over the place, but not the most important--the middle.
Now, the story:
I received the shipment 3 days after I placed the order (great service) but was disappointed to find a light to medium weight down comforter, which was not my intention as the ad stated the comforter had a 650 fill count--I was looking for heavy weight comforters. The "baffle box" construction was a joke as well since I held up the comforter to the light and saw that none of the fill was in its place, some channels were empty, others were filled with what I would describe as fiber fill, not down at all. There is some down in there, but not much.
The brand name is Royal Velvet and it had light blue piping around the edges and the brand was embroidered near the bottom of the comforter. The label on the comforter read "minimum 75% down" and where it originally stated "white goose down", the "white goose" was whited-out.
I tried it for one night and it didn't even keep me warm...that's one night in California, where it doesn't even get THAT cold compared to other places (it was in the 50's).
Thinking that Overstock had sent me the wrong item, I called them and explained the situation. I was told I indeed got the wrong item and they would send out replacements (I bought 2). I received those 3 days later but they were the SAME thing. I sent them back.
NONE of the 4 comforters I received had any packaging information on them--you know, the information on the package, inside the plastic bag that tells you the item specifics. That's pretty fishy and now I understand why.
I did some research on the Royal Velvet product line and found that this comforter is from their Legacy collection with a 275 thread count cotton cover, 550 fill power, and the Queen size has a 28 oz. fill--NOT what's advertised here, at 330 TC cover, 650 fill power, 40 oz. down.
Overall, Overstock's service was great--but the quality of this item is NOT as advertised. I'm very disappointed to be mislead. Shame on Overstock for advertising this product as better than what it really is!
