This comforter is lovely right out of the bag. However, I did not check closely every seam of every baffle to verify that there are no "leaks." It turns out after 4 months of use that the seams were not completely closed off, and there are leaks, and the feathers have migrated to certain areas, leaving some of the "squares" almost completely empty of feathers. I am disappointed because I loved the fabric and the fill, but now it is past the return date and I need to hire a seamstress to take this apart redistribute the feathers, and resew it.
This comforter is a nightmare! I have had it for over a year.. and now I am back to buy a new one after three major holes opened up in the fabric. The result being a blizzard of feathers in my bedroom. From the get- go I was unhappy with this comforter. The baffle box construction is poorly done. We found ourselves having to rotate it weekly so that we could get a few nights a week of even feather distribution. The rest of the week was either all the feathers at our feet (time to rotate) or up by our heads (which never lasted for more than a day). As I had mentioned, the fabric is terrible. We don't have tractor trailers driving over our bed... so for the life of me, I can not understand WHY three huge rips occured. We're not talking a small little slow feather leaking hole- I'm talking about mjor 3"- 6" tears along the grain of the fabric. The material, although claimed to be 1300 thread count, is poorly woven. If you are a first time buyer of down- move along from this one or you'll never experience the warmth and comfort down lovers all come to adore. I would also like to add (after reading many comments on several other down comforters) that it should be expected that all down comforters will ocassionally shed some feathers. Some people like to refer to it as beng like dust- it's just the smaller feathers popping through- and it's normal. A well made down comforter should hold the feathers within the baffle box construction and never seem like it's snowing in your bedroom- like this comforter has. You've been warned.
I've had this comforter for almost two years now and can honestly say it's absolutely fabulous EXCEPT the down does slowly migrate to the sides and bottom of the comforter. I still recommend it highly, but if I had to do it again I would reinforce the stitching myself, or have someone else do it right after purchase. That said, it is the softest, most luxurious feeling comforter I've ever had. I lend it to special guests and they always rave, too. At one point, Overstock sold a comforter cover/matching pillow cases set of the same material which I also recommend highly if you ever see it listed. Note: If you plan on placing this comforter inside another cover that matches your decor, I would NOT invest in this product as there are plenty of excellent 100% white goose down comforters available for much less money. It is the extradinarily ultra-soft, white silk/cotton cover that is the stand-out feature here. I would also not recommend this comforter for children, or if you have small kids crawling into your bed nights. This comforter must be dry cleaned and the fabric cannot be bleached.
This is a very soft comforter. I love that it is oversized. BUT... I've owned the comforter for about 11 months now & it is still losing feathers. Everyday the feathers poke right through the thin fabric. They get everywhere - all over the floor, clothing, and carried into the rest of the house. I cannot set anything on the bed or it will end up with feathers sticking to it. It is so frustrating to have to vaccuum every other day to pick up all of the feathers that seep out. I do not understand how this fabric can be so thin when it is supposed to be 1300 thread count.
I've purchased a down comforter from OS before and paid about half the price of this one and got just that out of it..... This time, I read through all of the down comforter spec's here on OS and finally decided on this one (along with the matching pillows) which has been very rewarding. I am big on comfort in the bedroom and am willing to pay a little extra for luxury. I go to bed every night feeling like I am sleeping in a cloud. Oh yeah, I have had this comforter for almost a year now and have been nothing but pleased with the merchandise!
Do not buy this Comforter, Half of the Panels were empty of down. C/S acknowledged that there is a problem with this product. Looked Beautiful but construction is poor. I ordered it after reading poor reviews thinking maybe they got a a lemon but no they were right. stay away from this product.
Just received this comforter and it is better than I could have imagined. It is the softest, most luxurious comforter I have ever seen. I had shopped around and could find nothing that matched the quality for this price. I am beyond satisfied.
Finally a down comforter that actually fits a king bed, with just enough overhang and head and foot cover..most comforters you can hug them around you neck or cover your feet. This is huge enough to do both. Don't see any stitching problems like others have said.So soft and rich feeling...No smell, just pure luxury...Little pricey but worth every dollar.....LOVE IT
Now normally, you wouldn't expect to have a review like this from a guy. This comforter is hands down responsible for the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. It cools during the summer, and probably warms during the winter. It is soft and easy to care for. I highly recommend it.
The cover fabric of this comforter is the best I've even seen or felt but sadly - it ends there. The down is very unevenly distributed, some baffle boxes are even empty, and trust me I've shook this until my arms ache! It continues to leak small feathers and I've had it for quite some time now, which is surprising as the cover is so nice. The smell also lasted for well over a month. I waited so long to buy a down comforter and for this being the "best" with a 1300 TC, I am dissappointed. I should have returned it but I didn't. My bad!
I was very excited to receive my comforter. Unfortunately, this excitement hasn't lasted long. This gorgeous comforter is poorly made as the baffle box stitching is incomplete on every single box. All my goose down has migrated to one end of the comforter or the other. Needless to say, I'm returning it. Beware: this has now happened to 3+ buyers.
My husband bought this comforter for me several years ago through Overstock.com. I love it. I use it year around and living in Colorado it getts really cold out. It is the only blanket I need. It is amazingly light weight for its size and cleans like a dream. The quality is unserpased, and so was the price.
This product is not what we had hoped it would be from the description of it on the website. Yes, the outer cover is soft and looks pretty, but the down filling is constantly shifting to the point where some areas are empty and no amount of fluffing will help... I have always used down comforters, and this is by far the worst one! It is also continuously shedding small feathers, and they end up all over our bedroom and cling to everything... A truly terribly made product, don't waste your money!
I love going to bed now.; I look forward to snuggling in. In less than a minute it warms me up. I put a cover to protect it, but the silk feels really nice, too. After reading the other reviews, I went back to see if mine shifted like the others say and it does, but I don't mind. Some nights I want less of it on me, so it works out fine.... when I fluff it up evenly... I sometimes get too hot under it. One of the best investments I every made; I hat e to be cold at night and this keeps me nice and snug.
