Had I not experienced a family emergency when two 89 year old parents wound up hospitalized 24 hours apart (note my screen name), I would have sent these back. Since the box from Overstock sat on a shelf for a month before I remembered it, I accepted they were staying. While the description of these sheets states they are a sateen finish, I disagree strongly .These sheets have rich color and a very thick, canvas-like feel, which I initially hated. I also found the fitted sheet to be a very tight fit for my queen mattress (pillow top on both sides, the description states the fitted sheet will fit up to 16 inches, so that is my fault). I thought a couple of washes might loosen them up, but no. Things got more interesting... the side hems of the top sheet rolled up 4x on each side, costing me about 5 inches in width of coverage. I've been laundering sheets for 30 years and never ran across this before, so I tried line drying the top sheet with clothes pins on the hems at 4 inch intervals. As soon as the clothes pins came off the hems rolled up like salami slices on an antipasto. O.K.; out comes the ironing board (I'm really loving these sheets now). After steam pressing one side hem open, I was not amused to find the hem had rolled back up as I went along to the next section, presumably as it cooled. I also found dye streaks where the sheets had permanently creased before I got them. I have now fought these sheets for more than a year and I am done with them. They will now be very nice drop cloths. As for Overstock itself, I have bought many linen items here with great satisfaction, and will be replacing these sheets today from this site. To summarize.. if you like labor intensive linens, these are the sheets for you.
Overstock calls these sheets 1000 thread count. Failing to offer whether they are 1 ply or 2 ply. This is a two ply 500 thread count sheet which doesn't have the terrific feel of a 1000 thread count single ply.
IF YOUR UNSURE ABOUT THIS SET, READ THIS: I had never purchased this high of a thread count. This was my first. Although it is not as soft as the lower thread counts, it is more durable. These sheets get softer with time & washings. I bought the pewter set for my Queen sized bed, that has a 4" visco foam topper and matress pad, and they fit GREAT!!! I LOVE them. Initially, I was concerned, because they felt stiff upon opening the pack. I washed them with lots of softener, and they softened a little, but not enough that I thought they were great. I'm on about my 5th or 6th washing and each time they come out a little bit softer. Sleeping on them makes you feel VERY comfortable. The higher thread count means they are made better, more durable, and will soften with time. I love them, so much that 5 minutes ago, I purchased an 800 thread count of the Egyptian cotton ones and will let you know if they were as great as these. If you like TRUE LUXURY, these sheets are for you.
I purchased these and they were beautiful, have a slight sheen to them. After washing them I found them to be a bit stiff even though I used fabric softener. Maybe after a few washings they will feel softer. I purchased a different set of sheets 600TC for $49 and they are a lot softer and used in our guest bed room. Would not purchase these again!
I bought this product because I have purchased other sheets from Overstock; in fact, I buy all my sheets from Overstock. We have 2 Cal-King beds and it's really hard to find nice sheets in that size (except at Overstock). We also have a tempur-pedicŪ Cal King with dual controls, meaning each side of the bed's head and feet can go up and down independently. These sheets not only fit over the deep mattress, but I can have my side in an upright position while my husband's side is down and the fitted sheet stays on and flexes perfectly with the mattress. As far as the 1000 count, well, if you have ever had cheap sheet, you will understand the importance of the count. When you slide your legs across the sheets they are smooth and silky and comfortable (the sheets, not your legs).
great set of sheets very comfortable, would reccommend to anyone, great quality.
Not worth the money, very disappointed with the quality, For over *** the sheets had a cheap photo copy paper for a label. I did not receive Hotel Grand Sheets.
They arrived with a black and white photo copy for the cover of the sheets. That should have been my clue to send them back. Looking back I realized they could be knockoffs. But they felt soft, and I figured they would be fine once they were washed. After washing, they felt a girtty, and the standard pillow cases are too small for a standard pillow. They are not aweful, but just not the quality you'd expect from Hotel Grand 1000 thread count sheets.
Sheets very comfortable, do wrinkle after washing/drying. Top sheet is long enought to tuck and bottom sheet is deep. Color is true to photo.
Very soft,. a delight to sleep on. Love the color. Really must buy two of three more sets but can't do it right now.
