Had I not experienced a family emergency when two 89 year old parents wound up hospitalized 24 hours apart (note my screen name), I would have sent these back. Since the box from Overstock sat on a shelf for a month before I remembered it, I accepted they were staying. While the description of these sheets states they are a sateen finish, I disagree strongly .These sheets have rich color and a very thick, canvas-like feel, which I initially hated. I also found the fitted sheet to be a very tight fit for my queen mattress (pillow top on both sides, the description states the fitted sheet will fit up to 16 inches, so that is my fault). I thought a couple of washes might loosen them up, but no. Things got more interesting... the side hems of the top sheet rolled up 4x on each side, costing me about 5 inches in width of coverage. I've been laundering sheets for 30 years and never ran across this before, so I tried line drying the top sheet with clothes pins on the hems at 4 inch intervals. As soon as the clothes pins came off the hems rolled up like salami slices on an antipasto. O.K.; out comes the ironing board (I'm really loving these sheets now). After steam pressing one side hem open, I was not amused to find the hem had rolled back up as I went along to the next section, presumably as it cooled. I also found dye streaks where the sheets had permanently creased before I got them. I have now fought these sheets for more than a year and I am done with them. They will now be very nice drop cloths. As for Overstock itself, I have bought many linen items here with great satisfaction, and will be replacing these sheets today from this site. To summarize.. if you like labor intensive linens, these are the sheets for you.
IF YOUR UNSURE ABOUT THIS SET, READ THIS: I had never purchased this high of a thread count. This was my first. Although it is not as soft as the lower thread counts, it is more durable. These sheets get softer with time & washings. I bought the pewter set for my Queen sized bed, that has a 4" visco foam topper and matress pad, and they fit GREAT!!! I LOVE them. Initially, I was concerned, because they felt stiff upon opening the pack. I washed them with lots of softener, and they softened a little, but not enough that I thought they were great. I'm on about my 5th or 6th washing and each time they come out a little bit softer. Sleeping on them makes you feel VERY comfortable. The higher thread count means they are made better, more durable, and will soften with time. I love them, so much that 5 minutes ago, I purchased an 800 thread count of the Egyptian cotton ones and will let you know if they were as great as these. If you like TRUE LUXURY, these sheets are for you.
I purchased these and they were beautiful, have a slight sheen to them. After washing them I found them to be a bit stiff even though I used fabric softener. Maybe after a few washings they will feel softer. I purchased a different set of sheets 600TC for $49 and they are a lot softer and used in our guest bed room. Would not purchase these again!
I bought this product because I have purchased other sheets from Overstock; in fact, I buy all my sheets from Overstock. We have 2 Cal-King beds and it's really hard to find nice sheets in that size (except at Overstock). We also have a tempur-pedic® Cal King with dual controls, meaning each side of the bed's head and feet can go up and down independently. These sheets not only fit over the deep mattress, but I can have my side in an upright position while my husband's side is down and the fitted sheet stays on and flexes perfectly with the mattress. As far as the 1000 count, well, if you have ever had cheap sheet, you will understand the importance of the count. When you slide your legs across the sheets they are smooth and silky and comfortable (the sheets, not your legs).
I love high thread count sheets, up until now, my experience has been with 800 TC sheets... This is my first set of 1000 TC sheets... I could not believe the difference in the thickness, the softness and the comfort of these sheets and with the price so low.. I ordered 2 sets. The platinum is a beautiful shade and compliments my peach and grey themed bedroom. I will be purchasing more of these in the future..Thanks Overstock.com for providing outstanding merchandise at affordable prices.
WOW! I was a bit apprehensive about these sheets, given bad reviews of other high thread count sheets. But I will be buying only these from now on. I have "graduated" from 400 thread count to 600, then 800, now the 1000! Absolutely the best! The material is heavy and feels like quality hotel sheets, Take them out of the drier right away for minimal wrinkling. They are warm and soft and smooth to the skin. I sleep like a baby. Very generous size for the thicker mattress. I can't recommend these enough!
I ordered 2 pairs of these in Ivory nearly 5 years ago and just re-ordered the same sheet AGAIN!They are a bit rough at first - but end up feeling like butter. REALLY SOFT!!!Like a fine wine, they actually improve with time. The fabric has held up very well under extreme conditions (Kids, animals).I had just paid more for a new 800 count set at a local "name dept. store" and was very disappointed in the quality - Piling after 2-3 months, and just never softened up - even with fabric softener. What a waste of money. So I contacted the nice Overstock customer service person who was able to pull up my past purchase (Different e-mail so was not easy) and find the same sheet set we had purchased. . Yeah.My only wish is that they came in more color choices like gold, black, burgundy and purple.
Fast and appropriately packed shipment. I have had the sheets for about four weeks now and they are holding up to washing and drying. If you like the sheets in mid-to-upper scale hotels you will probably enjoy these. These sheets are glorious. They are heavy to the touch, soft on skin contact, and are thick, thck, thick. You have to like thick and heavy sheets to appreciate them. I will be purchasing another set within the next month. They are cotton and will wrinkle unless pulled from dryer in a reasonable time. Recommended.
We love these sheets. Just bought a set for our vacation home so that we don't have to be without them this summer. They do need several washings before use. They are so thick and luxurious and almost "buttery" feeling. Our first set is now 4 years old and showing no wear and tear. We could never go back to "skinny" sheets again.
Other high thread count sheets I've bought or discussed with friends tended to be stiff, almost scratchy and required too much ironing due to incredible wrinkling. NOT THESE! I'm so glad I took a chance on these sheets - they are wonderful! Launder and they come out virtually unwrinkled. They are not scratchy at all, but rather smooth and comfortable from the very first use. The color and sheen are very attractive in a subtle way. I've already recommended these to friends.
While we are pleased with the quality of the sheets because of what we paid for them; we seriously question them being featured as 1000 Thread Count which they obviously are not and anyone could tell so by their touch and feel. Hope they are not misrepresented. It is going to be hard to consider future purchases.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. These sheets are not worth the money. I am so disappointed in these sheets. As soon as I opened the package, I thought they were a bit stiff. Well, maybe after washing they'll be a little softer. No such luck. They were horribly wrinkled as I put them on my bed and felt scratchy. I figured I'd give them at least one night, maybe I'd change my mind. Nope, I am still just as disappointed. They are scratchy and stiff. Not what 1000tc sheets should feel like at all. Two positives: 1) the shipping was fast. I ordered on Monday, they arrived on Thursday. 2) I learned my lesson. I will never buy sheets from Overstock again. I'll only get sheets at a store where I can actually feel the material before purchasing.
