Worth the Money!
 from Tennessee,  Sep 13, 2007

First, I have to tell you that I am more picky than most people, especially when it comes to stuff that will touch my skin! My husband says I would have made a great Queen! I carefully read reviews looking for just the right comforter for our Master Bedroom. My husband and I had enjoyed the fluffy, soft covers during our stay at the Hampton Inn, and we wanted something very close to their white, soft comforter. I decided on the down alternative comforter, because I was afraid I might have allergies to real down. I then started to narrow down the comforters that Overstock has to offer. I did not want to pay $400 for a comforter, like one would have to do for Hampton's bedding. We are pretty rough on our comforters, and I needed something more "disposable." When this comforter came in the mail, I promptly took it straight to my extra-large capacity washer to give it a freshening wash, as I do not like the smell of a new piece of bedding, generally. I wanted to wash it in my detergent and fabric softener so that it would be fresh for the first night of use. As one person previously reported, I got a small tear in the seam where the comforter rubbed against the agitator, apparently. I decided that this comforter, especially in a king size, is just too big to go in a home washer, and I think it really would be better to take it to a laundry mat or dry cleaner for cleaning. Otherwise, you are going to rub all kinds of tears in it. I put it through 3 cycles in the dryer. It fluffed fine, but it takes a long time to dry all that filling inside. Now that my comforter was clean and fresh, I was ready to test it for comfort. My initial feeling was that the material did not really seem as soft (at supposedly 700 thread count) as my 400 thread count sheets did. For particularly sensitive princesses like me, I thought it had just a tad bit of roughness to it, but nothing horrible. After sleeping with it for two nights now, I can say that it is wonderful. It does not make me itch or bother my very sensitive skin in any way. It is incredibly soft! The weight of this comforter is about moderate. It is not too light or too heavy. We sleep under heavy air conditioning, and it definitely is wonderful to snuggle under it in the cool hours of the morning. It keeps you very warm without being really heavy on your body. I think it will be great in the winter here in Tennessee. Like other reviewers, I will say that it runs extremely small. I put it on a Queen bed with thick mattresses, and it will not even cover from top to bottom of the mattress. It comes down on the sides just about to where the dust ruffle should start. I think you are going to have to find a thin spread or something to put over it if you want to have a good looking bed ensemble. It definitely does not cover my bed like I would like. I use it more like one would use a blanket. I have a more formal spread to put on when company comes. So what is my bottom line? Even with all its shortcomings (mostly the size of it), I love it, and so does my husband. It is every bit as comfortable as the Hampton Inn's luxurious bedding. At this price, you can use it and replace it when it gets worn out. I am thinking about getting one for all my kids for their beds for the winter. They are so nice to wrap up in, and if you are worried about soiling the white comforter, I would recommend getting a comfortable duvet cover that can be taken off and washed periodically. For me, I think I will just take mine to the laundry mat when it needs washing and put it in their huge commercial washer. You don't have to do it that often, and it is a minor inconvenience to have this much plush, soft cover night after night. I urge you to go for it! I doubt you would be disappointed.

Wonderful comforter
from Rutland, Vermont,  Oct 14, 2007

This comforter is exactly what I was looking for. Cannot use feather comforters due to allergies. The material is luxurious. The weight has substance. Not one of those flimsy comforters, but not too heavy either. I purchased the king-size one--there is approx a 12" overhang on each side, and a nice 18" overhang at the bottom. Plenty of comforter to snuggle into comfortably. It fluffed up nicely after opened and left to air out for a couple hours. I am VERY happy with my purchase.

Best Buy
from near Salt Lake City, Utah,  Jul 10, 2008

I've always had down, so was hesitant purchasing the alternative. This comforter was a delight right out of the box. What a beautiful cover (and I'm very particular about the quality of cotton covers!). I just shook it from all sides and it's been great ever since. We've had it on the bed for the past couple weeks and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It's lightweight, but very cozy and fluffy; not some heavy comforter making you too hot and bulky. Keeps us warm for cold nights and very comfortable for summer, too. I like the box stitching and each time I change the bed linens, I give it a gentle shake, which I also had to do with the down ones. It is also very ample in size, covering 10 inches plus on the sides and more on the bottom on our king size bed. Don't hesitate on this one; it's a keeper!! I also like the fact it's machine washable and tumble dry.

Very Nice Quality
 from WA,  May 9, 2006

I decided on getting a down alternative comforter instead of down because of problems I've had in the past with my sensitive nose in always being able to smell the down in comforters/pillows, no matter how nice the quality. Wow, this comforter is beautiful and high quality. It looks and feels just like a down comforter to me. And of course, absolutely no smell. It is exactly what I was hoping for and I was not disappointed at all. The 700 TC looks great and is so soft/silky. I don't think you could get a nicer quality and look of down at this price.

Great Comforter Til Washed
from Bend, OR,  Apr 20, 2009

This comforter was absolutely wonderful when I first got it. VERY soft and nice & fluffy. Everything about it I liked - until the day came when I had to wash it. I have an extra large capacity washing machine, so it's not that I crammed it into a small washer. But when I pulled it out, all of the fill was clumped up. I thought maybe it was just because it was wet, so I tossed it into the dryer, but to no avail. Now the comforter is EXTREMELY lumpy and no matter what I tried, nothing ever fixed it. The fill was in such uneven shape it didn't even lay on the bed well.If you're going to get this one, please save yourself the annoyance and have it dry cleaned.

Excellent Down Alternative Comforter
 from Nebraska,  Nov 5, 2010

I searched here at Overstock for quite awhile, actually a long time reading reviews and evaluating sizes to fit the duvet etc, I would find the duvet and it was sateen which is a disaster with animals and to find a duvet the same size as the bedding and it has worked out great. It is very cold here and it will be nice to not have to sleep under a pile of blankets. I bought a king for my queen size bed, it hangs close to the floor on the sides so I can rest assured my bed hog dog won't take away my covers with plenty on the sides ;) It fluffed up nicely and filled the duvet and made the entire set fluffy. I always read all the reviews here at Overstock to make my selection and this one is definitely a 5 star as indicated by others. I would recommend this very highly. This is only my opinion but I have washed this type of bedding before instead of dry cleaning but only at a Laundromat with large machines, never at home. I dry for awhile on low with a couple of tennis balls and then let it dry the rest of the way at home. The short dry time gets the fluff back but no reason to overdo it and take a chance. I don't remember how I found out about the tennis balls but they do work. I am not a professional dry cleaner and this is only my opinion about what works for me. Several advantages, not paying the high cost and giving up your bedding for awhile.

great at first...
from San Francisco, CA,  Dec 9, 2011

This comforter was fluffy and great at first, and I was pleased that the filling was restricted to each compartment. However, it's now been just over a year since my purchase and the thing has gone completely flat. It looks like a regular blanket, not a comforter, and the duvet cover sags because there is so much extra room inside. The filling has balled up in each compartment and nothing will fix it, washing, fluffing, etc. There are now many spots with no filling at all. In the winter in the SF Bay Area it's not warm enough. Sadly I am shopping for a new comforter. You would hope something like this would last more than 1 year.

Alternative Filled Comforter
from Denver, CO,  Nov 4, 2010

This comforter has to be able to keep us toasty during the extra cold winters here in Colorado. When I took it out of the bag, I was concerned, as the comforter was quite thin! We are used to down comforters that are usually quite thick, fluffly and heavy. The first night with the new comforter, we reserved several blankets at the foot of the bed. We were pleasenly surprised that no other blankets were necessary. We stayed toasty all night! It says on the package that it can be used in warm weather, as well. We will await spring with anticipation!

Poor filling

I have only had this comforter for a few weeks and the filling has already started clumping into the corners of the baffles. Very dissappointing.

soft and warm
from San Jose, CA,  Oct 30, 2008

I've never had a down alternative comforter until I bought this one. I was surprised how light and soft, yet warm it is. It just feels so good to stay under the cover specially when it is cold. It has that hotel look which I really liked. I love, love it!

Much smaller than description
 from WA,  Sep 7, 2007

After reading the description online and the tag on the comforter, my husband measured and it is a good six inches less wide and over two inches shorter than it's supposed to be! It's too bad because we loved every thing else about it. If we had a queen bed in the house, we'd definitely keep it. At least Overstock is paying return shipping + waiving the restocking fee.

EVEN BETTER THAN EXPECTED!
from high desert, Southern California,  Feb 15, 2007

Just got it & we love it! It's so soft & fluffy after you lay it out for a couple of days. We don't want to get out from under the covers! It's inside my beautiful pale yellow Fieldcrest Luxury Damask duvet, which you can hardly find anymore. This comforter was my first purchase from OS and I spent a lot of time on the reviews before I ordered. It fits our Cal King & the king duvet just fine and I'm so glad I chose it that I plan to purchase a couple more. And it's a great price when you compare with down for a couple of hundred dollars or more. I don't even like the smell of down. Well, good nite, I'm going to get in my bed with this lovely comforter now.

NAPLES 700 COMFORTER
from Arlington, Tx,  Oct 17, 2009

The appearance and fabric quality is good, it is comfortable but not warm enough. It does not have that plush look, it's like a regular heavy blanket. That is what it looks like when I put the Duvet on it. No cushy look as in picture. I was very dissappointed. The price is too much for this product !

Good value
from Sherwood OR,  Dec 16, 2008

I sleep very sound on even cold nights (60 degrees Farenheight). The only negative thing I can say is that the fill bunches up, leaving some areas void of any.

great comforter!
 from Masaschusetts,  Oct 22, 2008

This is my first down alternative comforter and first time ordering from Overstock. The shipping was really fast! I love the comforter! I was considering a down comforter, but I have some serious concerns with treatment of the geese. This comforter is made really well. The fabric is very soft, although I did purchase a duvet cover to protect it and reduce the need to wash it. It fills the duvet cover nicely. It did not have any odor when I took it out the package and fluffed up nicely. The baffles really help to hold the fill in place. It has kept me so warm and cozy on these chilly New England Fall nights! I have not turned on my heat yet! I have washed it once. I would have been better off to use a commercial washer without an agitator, but it held up very well in my oversized machine. My only compalint is that it is a king size, but it barely hangs over the sides of my king mattress.

Super Lofty & Comfortable
 from Texas,  Sep 6, 2006

Wow!!!! What a great comforter. When it arrived i was so excited i had to put it on the bed immediately to see how it looked. It is boxy, fluffy, and the perfect warmth. Overall it is great, however, it seems a little small for our King size bed. We ordered a King size. I recommend that you order one size larger than your bed size if you intend to use it as a top comforter. It would get a 5 star rating if it was a little bit bigger. It seems to be a tad on the small side. Order one size up!

INCORRECTLY SIZED
 from Va.,  Apr 10, 2012

Ordered this comforter, and it just barely fit on top of the bed, it was supposed to be a Queen-size comforter, but it would only cover just liffle over half of the mattress. It did not even come all the way to the edge of the top of the mattress. It felt nice, but improperly sized. I wanted this, but had to return it due to the improper sizing.

Great value
 from Seattle,  Dec 2, 2012

For anyone looking for a good quality down alternative, I think this comforter is a good choice. The fabric is quite (not loud and crunchy). It's medium weight - so it works most of the year. I have a nice coverlet that I add during the cold winter months, when needed. I think it's a very good value for the price.
