Down and feather-filled products are packed tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove them from their packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours to recover their full loft. In addition, being sealed in plastic packaging sometimes causes the scent of these natural products to concentrate to a disagreeable level. A few hours of airing usually removes the odor.

We recommend that this comforter is fluffed at least once a week to maintain down distribution.

  • Nice but too hot

Beautiful comfortor but too heavy for S. California. I'm the always freezing gal so I thought medium warmth would be good. But this comfortor was too heavy and hot. Other than that I loved it, it's fluffy and looks good.

  • Oversized, soft and fluffy, not to mention warm

This comforter was bought for a queen bed and is perfect with the overhang around the sides. Very plush and warm. I'm in north Florida and it's perfect for our winters with just a sheet below it. Love it!

  • Extremely warm comforter

We've had this comforter for about 2 weeks. I spent a lot of time researching different comforters and wanted to make sure that the feathers did not clump in one corner leaving bare spots or shed. So far everything is great. It is a really warm comforter, though. Not something I would recommend for a slightly warmer climate and definitely not an all weather comforter. In short, just what I wanted...without the extremely expensive price tag that other comforters have.

  • Light as a feather!

After spending the night at a friend's I discovered the loveliness of a down comforter. I found that Overstock had a great selection and I finally settled on this one, as it was reasonably priced, had good thread count, and real goose down. The first evening my cats were a bit concerned, it didn't SOUND like any blanket we ever had, but within no time we were all cuddled down deep in the wonderful light warmth of the comforter. Its so light that it doesn't want to slip down the sides of the bed, but it retains warmth so if you get out of bed for a little while, it's there waiting for you. For a great winter sleep, I really recommend this product. I only wish I'd discovered it sooner.

  • Looks great!

I purchased this as a gift for my husband. It hasn't been used yet, but it looks great, and I'm sure it will get a lot of use when the temperature drops! However, I was surprised to see the DRY CLEAN only label. We've had goose down comforters before and I have always washed them in the super sized machine at our laundromat , as long as they were inside a duvet. I'm sure dry cleaning will be very expensive!

  • Better than most

I did exhaustive research looking for a "fluffy" goose down comforter. I so much wanted my bed to look like all the pictures I see. Big, comfy, overstuffed looking bedding. I purchased this one as I really believed it fit what I was looking for without spending $$$-$$$$. It's not as fluffy as the picture, however, it's very nice. Totally worth the $. Go for it

  • Crinkly, like crumpling up a newspaper

Nicely warm and appears to be good quality, but it's a little noisy when you move.

  • Grand Egyptian

The filling is not distributed evenly and there is not much of it. We held the comforter up to the light and you can see right thru most of it. The rating is extra warm and the cost was significant so based on that and what we found we would not recommend it again.

  • comforter failure

This down comforter failed within 60 to 70 days....all the down in the middle of the comforter shifted to the sides and the foot. No warmth at all in the center. I returned it for a refund.

Does the comforter shown (Item #: 14270506) have the Hotel Grand Label on it? Is it 100% Down? Is it a true Baffle Box? Is the Baffle Box sewn through? 1nanashopper on Dec 13, 2012

Answer This Question

Sorry, this product does not have the Hotel Grand label to keep the cost down. It is at least 75 percent down cluster, the other 25 percent is down fiber, feather fiber and feathers. It’s difficult to find 100% down. According to US law, if a comforter can reach 75% down cluster, it can be called a down comforter. It is baffle box sewn through, not end to end sewn through box. overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 17, 2012

Answer This Question

Baffle Box construction is the more expensive way to make a down comforter. It is a construction that does not allow down to escape from the comforter through needle holes as in a sewn through comforter. Sewn through comforters may not have the down evenly distributed based on how the down settles while the comforter is sewn. With a baffled box, simple fluffing up shaking the comforter will redistribute the down fairly evenly. Most of our down blend items are sewn through and very few down comforters are sewn through. Item # 914562 is sewn through. overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 6, 2012

Are the baffle boxes open at all so that down can travel? Which King sized comforters have totally sewn thru boxes, not baffles but just boxes? melinka on Nov 1, 2012

Answer This Question

Any comforter that is made in the USA, which is all our down comforter has a tiny filling hole at the corner of each baffle box. Therefore, all our down comforters all have holes and possible down shift. overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 8, 2012
