The product I received (twice) is not Hotel Collection, but rather Concierge Collection. Price comparison with other sites which sell the Concierge Collection shows this knock-off is not a value at its advertised price. It is soft, but it lacks the refined look and form of the Hotel Collection.
I thought I had ordered a "Hotel Collection" duvet cover and shams, which is what the item's description includes as well as the picture. BUT, when it came in, it actually is a bad knockoff of the "Hotel Collection" and instead, the packaging came in as "Concierge Collection" with a badly printed picture insert that looked like someone had just printed it off a regular printer and the picture looked stretched and distorted. When I opened it up, the stitching was terribly done as well and was already coming undone.
I love Overstock.com, and have had great luck with buying bedding online in the past. I bought the gray hotel collection sheets, but the gray is more lavender than it is gray. My husband was coming back from overseas, so I was anxious to have the house ready or his return, so I washed, ironed and made the bed with them, anyway. With more time, I should have sent them back for the black ones. Also, not a gripe about this particular item, as I'm sure it just goes with the king-size bed territory, but I sure wish they would make their duvets bigger, so that they hung down over the sides of the mattress. This one sits on top of our bed, with the sides of our mattresses exposed. I'm not a fan of this look.
It's been 4 months since I purchased this duvet. I like to wait a while... =D It's held up well. I am lazy. I rarely use gentle cycle. I bleach against manufacturer directions and I use high heat. The embroidery has not torn or changed in color. This platinum (although is indeed platinum in sunlight, appears more silver under a standard light bulb at night) remains unchanged. Some light ironing may be required on the edges of the pillow cases if you are ocd about that sort of thing. Pull it all from the dryer and put straight to bed and the rest of it looks fine. It is a thin fabric so if your duvet is colored, it would show through. It does not appear to be so thin as to be overly delicate. With three hyperactive children ages 3, 6, & 7, it has held up well to constant climbing ons. It has even tolerated the occasional abuse of toddler sneakers as my son attempts to climb the bed. Hope this helps! :)
I bought this duvet set after seeing it features on many design web sites. It's a dead ringer for embroidered duvets featured at Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware for less than half the cost. I was concerned that it would look like a cheap knock-off, but I decided to give it a try. The duvet is soft, looks top end, and has held up. It does wrinkle after washing, but so do my linens from Frette. I just wish Overstock would make these with chocolate brown embroidery.
I received my Hotel Collection in Silver/Gray accent color Duvet set and immediately put it on my bed. I love the white color and agree w/others that the silver/gray accent could be a bit darker, but overall, I'm very happy w/the purchase and my wallet is ecstatic! I gave it 4 stars b/c the duvet had two little stains; however, when I washed it the stains disappeared. I am on a mission now to find some matching drapes! Thanks Overstock for the great prices! I ordered a rug to go w/this bedding and I should receive it soon. :)
I purchased this duvet cover about 2 months ago hoping to solve my husbands problem with tangled sheets. After only 4 washes, the underside of the duvet started to pill up, making it rather scratchy. The top side looks nice and has become softer with washes. We've used this cover as a replacement for a top sheet, which may not be what it was intended for, so you might have better luck with it if you do use it with a top sheet. I'll have to look for another solution to the tangled sheet problem.
why oh why didnt i read the reviews first?? lesson learned after this purchase. this is NOT the hotel collection as others have mentioned. my brand was "westport home". if i truly wanted to buy a knockoff i would have went to a store that sold it for even less. very disappointed at the deception . i would love to return this and get a full refund back, but i dont want to go thru the hassle of doing it. im just going to keep this as a bedding on the floor for my dogs.
I ordered this Duvet cover because of the level of quality that was advertised. I was skeptics when I opened it up. It felt very limp. I washed it to remove the harsh chemical smell from the fabric. My husband and I buttoned up the Duvet cover only to be even more disappointed. You can see right through the white fabric. It is the most flimsy fabric I have ever purchased. If you are looking for a nice quality Duvet cover don't purchase this one. I was looking for a nice soft but crisp fabric that would be sturdy enough for everyday use. I should have trusted my instinct and returned it before washing it. Can I still send it back? I feel bad writing a bad review but I feel worse wasting money.
This product is extremely poor quality. I don't know why I didn't return it. The fabic on the duvet cover is stretchy so the dual stripes are wavy and look terrible on the bed. I was trying to save money as this is very similar to the one sold at ***. Does not compare. It's crap.
This duvet and sham set is advertised as Hotel Collection (with capitals) representing it is made and offered by the well known quality company. The product that was shipped is made in China under the label of Westport Home. This is going back and I am registering a complain with Overstock and the selling enterprise for falsely representing this product. NOT HAPPY!
This duvet cover and pillow sham set work perfectly for my black & white bedroom. The set is so soft and luxurious it looks and feels much more expensive than it was. The black stitching was even throughout. It does require ironing to look its best but doesn't wrinkle from sitting or laying on the bed. Make sure pillows and featherbed are white or the fabric color underneath will show through. Highly recommend.
I'm new to duvets, and I did not put a comforter inside since it was for my guest room and b/c it's hot right now. It looks good, feels soft and overall I'm very pleased. My only complaint is that the colored threading looks a bit bare in spots but you have to be close up to notice. I'm slightly worried after washing the threads may start to come undone. Definitly gives a nice hotel look and feel. Oh, and it arrived very, very quickly.
We have two golden retriever puppies that love to jump on the bed even with their muddy paws. This duvet has been washed several times in bleach and comes out looking new every times. Quality is great for the many times I have washed it and the buttons are stlll intact. A great classic hotel look with easy maintenance. Great purchase overstock!
