In all my years shopping with overstock, I have only had to send something back twice - but this purchase takes the cake! Even doing the initial wash in a warm/cold setting, these sheets shrunk so horribly that I cannot even tuck the top sheet in at the bottom. If I want to tuck, I have to pull the sheet down about 2 feet off of the pillow line. The top sheet was also cut wrong. One side is longer than the other by a good 4 inches. The pillowcases are a literal nightmare. They were pieced together and sewn so horribly that the seam goes from end to end on a diagonal on both sides. When you put them on the pillow, the seam rubs on your face because it's almost through the middle of the pillow. HORRIBLE! But the biggest disappointment of all is the quality of the material. REALLY? They are trying to pass off flannel sheets for 400 thread count sateen sheets? They are so rough, it feels like burlap! So hot to sleep on and do nothing to dispel heat or perspiration - Yeah, I really like going to bed every night being tortured by my sheets..! My husband is threatening to sleep in the guest bedroom. Where was the quality control at overstock when this shipment was accepted? Does Overstock really think that consumers will accept just anything when a slightly lower price is involved? For this kind of crud, I could have gone to Walmart and paid less... Money is tight right now because my husband is ill. We needed new sheets because a rip had formed in our old bottom sheet - I never expected to have garbage like this delivered from Overstock. I may be re-thinking my loyalty to them in the future. No longer quality products - just cheap, poorly made goods. Save your money and don't buy item #11402894 Hemstitch 400 thread count sateen cotton sheet set - just junk!
I should have listened to the other reviews. However, some of them said that their sheet were super soft, so I was hoping that those reviews would match what I got. They didn't! The reviews that say they are not at all soft and get pilled quickly are true! These sheets cannot be 400 thread count. They are scratchy and not soft at all! They say 100% cotton, but do not feel soft like cotton. I am very dissapointed in the feel. On the bright side, the color is amazing. I have the teal color, and it is a deep, lovely blue. I was hoping they wouldn't pill like some reviews mentioned. I wash them in cold water and air dry them. They started to pill after only 2 washes. These sheets have a great color but a very poor feel. Good for a nice look in a guest room or something, but not great to sleep on, which is what they are for! If you are looking for nice soft sheets, look elsewhere.
Well, here's the deal. I stalked this sheet set in persimmon, specifically for the color persimmon, for weeks. Maybe months. I was obsessed with the lovely, lustrous, grown-up pink hue, and I wanted it bad. After weeks and weeks of daily monitoring, the color finally came back in stock for queen sized mattresses, and I promptly ordered myself a set. I felt victorious. It did not last. The sheets are just "off" enough from the color pictured to take all of the wind out of my sails. They are slightly less rosy and slightly more orangey, which to my eye makes them more coral than persimmon. Whatever, I think. Still pretty. I toss them in the washer and am still excited. That, too, did not last. When I pulled them out of the dryer, the sheen was gone. In its place is a soft white haze. The sheets gave up so much dye in a standard cold water wash cycle that my washer had a big coral ring around the top of it for several more loads. The fitted sheet faded noticeably more than the top sheet and they now do not match in color, strangely enough. I have pictures. I would have included myself in the pictures, but I became so inordinately exhausted and sweaty in trying to wrestle the fitted sheet onto my mattress that I thought better of it. Not sure if they shrunk that drastically in a low heat dryer or if they were sized incorrectly to begin with. I was angry and disappointed. Good news: that didn't last either. I'm over it now, and am slightly amused by my bicolored hazy sheets. They're fairly soft but nothing to write home about. I would not purchase another set. Long story short, I got a set of sheets for less than $50. I learned my lesson. I probably got what I paid for. However, the sad part (to me) is that I would have paid substantially more for a better quality product in a color that is true to the picture displayed. It's all about the persimmon, man.
When I saw the word "sateen" I expected these to be the same feel and quality that my other "sateen" sheets are. They feel like cardboard, very scratchy, not soft and smooth at all. I washed them as directed, tried a fabric softener, and I am going to wash them a few more times with a fabric softener to see if they get to a usable point. Very disappointed in this product.
Worst sheets I've ever had, took off bed after one night. Looked and felt good in package, washed 3 times, on cold, before putting bed. All four pieces faded horribly to different shades. Pillowcase has hole from defective fabric. Stiff, scratchy, fabric, no sateen to these sheets. Do not buy... YUK
These sheets are soft to the touch in the package, but loses the softness after washing. They are very rough feeling and difficult to smooth out due to the roughness. They also wrinkle very badly after washing. The only plus is they are large enough to fit with sheet to spare and they seem to be well constructed--not thin sheets. I can only give a fair rating. I ordered 2 sets, one as a gift and may return the gift set.
I have wanted pale blue sateen sheets for a while and could not pass on this offer. What a mistake!. Always wash my sheets before putting them on my bed. These came out of the first cold wash looking like burlap. Put them on the bed anyway (optimistic!). The fitted sheet fit my deep mattress nicely but top sheet much too small. Took them off after one night and washed them again to return. That's when I put the 2 pillowcases together and noticed that one was at least 1.5 inches narrower than the other one! Don't waste your time. P.S. -- after the 2nd wash they looked like good rags.
I was very disappointed in these sheets. The pillowcases are a very different shade than the sheets. Both the pillowcases and the sheets shrunk about 8-12 inches on the first cold water wash. The sheets have pilled up. It feels like you are sleeping on sandpaper. They have shrunk so bad, that I almost cannot get the fitted sheet over the mattress edge. One of these times it will rip, as I have to tug so hard on the edges to get it to fit. The top sheet does not fold under the mattress. I just pull it down over the top-- no tucking under. Sadly I bought two sets. Now I am stuck with them. I will want to be sure I know where things are made if there is another time when I consider a purchase. This is the second time I have had bad luck with sheets through Overstock. I doubt that I will buy any more.
After seeing so many great reviews for these sheets I was really disappointed when I washed and dried these sheets. They are SO rough! I purchased the gray which the color looks beautiful but sadly I think these will get tossed bc they are just not remotely soft at all.
It's so hard to find 400TC sheets for twin beds. I was so excited I ordered two sets. Big mistake. The usual truth is that 400 tc is usually the "sweet spot" for sheets, softer than most 600 tc or higher. The sheets are rough and stiff. I guess the type of cotton really does make a difference, like it does in towels. I'll make sure it's 100% Pima or Egyptian cotton 400tc next time.
Not as shown or expected :( After washing they were a total mess and not at all a coral color. These sheets look like "canned pumpkin", are bulky, and a wrinkled mess, even using the "wrinkle guard" cycle on the dryer. I gave them to the SPCA for the animals in need. They will love them at the shelter.
I purchased these because I was in desperate need of a set of sheets. The brand I normally buy was not on sale, and I didn't feel like paying full retail price for those. I have washed them and they are currently on my bed. These are not as soft as the sateen sheets I normally buy, however, they are much softer than most other weaves of sheets I have bought in years past. I have a 10-year old mattress that is roughly 9 inches tall now. The queen sized fitted sheet was very tight going on...so if you have a mattress that is larger than 10 inches you may want to consider this before you purchase. I happen to love that fact because the fitted sheet on my other set of sheets, doesn't fit well as it was made to fit mattresses 10 inches to 15 inches....and bunches up after only a single night of sleep. With as tight as the fitted sheet is on my bed, I don't think bunching is going to be an issue. I washed mine in cold water, delicate cycle and used low heat for drying...and I have absolutely NO pilling. I did not notice any defects and the color was as advertised. Only time will tell if these will be sheets I buy again but so far so good. As a side note, I had paid for expedited shipping, and did not receive my product by the date promised. When I contacted Overstock about that fact, they graciously refunded my shipping. That act goes a long way with me. Their customer service was excellent and even if this product turns out to be something I don't buy in the future, I will definitely be taking a look here more often for other purchases.
At first I was concerned that these sheets were very scratchy. Then I remembered that my favorite set of sheets was the same way for the first couple months . . . and I've had them for five years. So I expect these to soften up with use and washing. Fun colors too, but wash them separately first, the bright colors bleed like crazy.
THE COLOR OF THESE SHEETS IS VIBRANT AND REALLY PRETTY (PERSIMMON) BUT THEY FEEL LIKE SANDPAPER. I WASHED THEM TWICE BEFORE USING. IT DIDN'T DO ANY GOOD. MY ELBOWS ARE VERY SORE FROM READING IN BED AND BEING ON MY ELBOWS. THESE SHEETS ARE MADE IN CHINA. THE BEST COTTON COMES FROM INDIA OR EGYPT, I BELIEVE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE.
I was expecting a great set if sheets given the overall ratings and reviews. I was sadly disappointed. I went on Overstock to reorder the same awesome sheets I already have, but to my dismay, they were no longer available, so I got this set. The fitted sheet struggled to go over my pillow top mattress only to have it stretched out and loose within a few days. All that struggle for nothing. After the first wash they were still stiff, and after the second and third wash it is still the same. The fabric is tough almost like a jersey knit. They are not sateen by any means. I wish I could return these for a product that stands up to its description.
Color was listed as Ivory.....appeared more yellow than ivory...but decided that a wash would be good.....one wash, sheets shrunk, pillow cases shrunk (tough to pull on my pillows) and certainly 400 thread count is a joke!!! Not a good product, would return if not used already......Next time will buy at XXX XXXX and get their 400 thread count, with color that is realistic, etc. Cannot recommend this to anyone!!!
These sheets are really soft 100% cotton made in india and fits my mattress which is 17 inches wide i own the teal blue and recently ordered the coral for my mother, if you are about to buy the coral color beware that is not a coral!!! is more like a burnt orange the color is still nice but not what i expected.
