I was looking for a large sized, dark (to minimize the appearance of dirt) rug without a non-skid backing. I anticipated washing it frequently, and I find the non-skid backings just don't hold up to machine washing or drying. This rug fit the bill. The description alerts you to the need for a non-skid backing. I bought a non-skid backing on Overstock that can be cut in half to back both rugs. So far (couple of days) so good. The rug, over the backing, doesn't skid at all on ceramic tile. It is a very generous size, quite thick and seems well made. It does say to line dry, which I hadn't planned on doing, but with two, I can alternate. The brown is not as dark as the photo appeared; it has a softer color, not washed out looking, but more cocoa than chocolate. There is a subtle square border around the rug. I certainly am no expert, but the rug seems thicker and better made than department store types. It feels as if the fabric is much more dense, softer, and will hold together better than the bath mats that I've always used, those standard department store ones that deteriorate over time. I am using this rug by an exterior door, another reason I bought it. I didn't want anything too "bathroom-y" looking, since I planned to use it elsewhere in the house. It fits the bill for what I needed and I'm pleased with the quality.
