Growing up, I had a down pillow that was handcrafted by my great grandma-- she raised geese and the down that filled the pillow came from her flock. I had that pillow until I was 23 when it finally just disintegrated right in front of my eyes. It was a sad sad day. Since then, I have been looking for something that would approximate the comfort I had with that pillow. So I ordered this-- I had purchased a foam mattress a few months before that was a bit on the firm side and thought this might take the edge off. I can't tell you how COMFORTABLE this is-- so much so that I can barely watch TV in bed anymore without falling asleep. It is unreal. The combination of the foam mattress and this topper is the best one I have ever had. I used to wake up with neck/back pain sometimes and it has not happened since I got this. Highly recommended. Worth several times the price/...

Down and feather-filled products are packaged tightly during shipping. Upon receipt, remove this item from its packaging, fluff gently, and allow several hours for full loft recovery. In addition, products sealed in plastic packaging sometimes have a disagreeable scent because of concentrated natural fibers. A few hours of airing typically removes the odor.

There was an order when first opened that went away in a few days. I am super sensitive to orders and any chemicals. After airing out I've had no problems. The feather bed has made sleeping on my hard bed much more comfortable.Read More
We purchased this topper because our new memory foam mattress really held the heat. The topper did the trick, and it gave us another layer of pillowy softness to enjoy as well!Read More
I would review this to a friend who is looking for "Extra Fill", it has it. The quality and price is great. But too much fill for me. I am returning this one, and will buy another, with less fill. So if you want "extra", this one has it.Read More
I was looking tor a soft featherbed to place atop a foam mattress. And this is a very thick and comfortable feather bed. Although there is a down top, the top is not very thick or down-y feeling. That being said, the feathers on the bottom do not poke up or through the top. So, there is relative comfort when sleeping on it. For the price, I think this is a very good investment if you are looking for a feather bed. If you are looking for a super luxe down feather bed, I think you will be disappointed. But as a regular feather bed, this is superb. It fits a queen mattress well (a little smaller than the bed size when fluffy but spreads out to the bed size once you lay on it and flatten it out a bit). There is the usual feather smell that comes with this sort of product. I did air it out for 48 hours and once it was on the bed, I never noticed it again. The cover is a thick woven cotten and a very nice protector. This is the second that I've purchased, the first being for the guest room bed. Overall, I am really satisfied.Read More

How to Pick a Featherbed
If you're looking for bedding that's delightfully old-fashioned and distinctly old-world, consider featherbeds. Ask anyone who's experienced the comfort of a down featherbed, and they'll tell you that it's like falling asleep in a cloud. Featherbeds also provide extra warmth on chilly nights and nippy mornings. Before you pick a featherbed, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Look below to learn how to pick a featherbed.
How to Pick the Right Fill for Down Comforters
Depending on the fill, a down comforter can function as a cold weather staple or a comfortable lightweight cover. Fill refers to the different grade of goose down feather used in down bedding. The higher the fill number, the larger the down clusters and warmth factor. There are several factors to be considered when choosing a down comforter, so keep reading for some useful tips on how to pick the right fill for down comforters.
Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills. How to Buy a Down Comforter
Two major considerations when purchasing a down comforter are content and construction. The Federal Trade Commission has standards set that specify labeling procedures for products that contain down. If the label of a down comforter reads 100 percent down, the comforter must contain down feathers exclusively. The same is true if the label reads pure down or all down. Most down comforters are made with goose down, but some may include down feathers from other species of fowl. Look below to learn how to buy a down comforter.
How to Wash Throw Pillows
Part of keeping a clean house is making sure all of your decorative accessories are clean. Throw pillows covered in delicate fabrics, such as wool or silk, will have to be dry-cleaned, as will throw pillows stuffed with down or feathers. Foam-filled throw pillows with cotton covers or other washable materials, however, can be washed -- some even by machine. Nevertheless, even if a pillow appears washable, always consult the washing instruction label before attempting to wash a throw pillow -- or you may be in for an unpleasant surprise when you remove the pillow from the washing machine.
