I read the reviews on this product and on lots of others on lots of web sites...I am so happy that I picked this one...Not too heavy and not too light...weight wise...doesn't make me feel overly warm...but I like to have the room cool and the covers warm to sleep....
I was worried about buying a down comforter on line as I was worried it would be too heavy. When it arrived I was so excited to see it was perfect, perfect fill, not heavy but enough for the temperature here. I can use this in the winter and feel confident it won't be too hot in the summer. The fabric feels really soft, and is a sateen finish. Great product and would've paid a lot more for this exact item in a store.
I was so excited to get a deal for this down comforter but unfortunately it does not stop shedding feathers. I am not sure what to do about it. I have taken it outside and shaken it a few times, but it still releases tiny feathers through my duvet cover. Otherwise, it is an extremely warm down comforter (almost too warm for summer nights). I would be happy if I could figure out how to lessen the feathers from shedding, perhaps washing it will help.
I purchased this in March 2013 as a lightweight alternative to the demim and Hudson Bay blanket that I snuggle under with my wife. First using the comforter, it was light and very warm and comfortable. The problem started occurring when the down alternative started shifting inside the squares and ultimately into OTHER SQUARES. We tried shaking it back, but it didn't work. Their are about 2" of the squares that are not sewn shut around the 4 sides or the comforter. We are going to try to shift the alternative back, but some of the squares are puffy and others are flat as Twiggy on the runway. I know, you are thinking that we should have seen this, but my wife had it encased in a nice duvet cover. I didn't think about it due to the excess fiber was on my side of the comforter. Ultimately, the comforter is nice, but needs to have equal amounts of down in each square and each square needs to be sewn fully closed. And when we took the duvet cover off to wash it, their was alternative down inside the duvet cover. We looked and didn't see any holes, but we both wear reading glasses. Bottom line is that it's warm, lightweight and comfortable, BUT may not stay that way unless locking stitches are put around the outside perimeter of the comforter.
I'm almost reluctant to write a bad review of this product. It is SO comfortable! But it leaks down constantly. I have dark hardwood floors and see the down everywhere. Now it's sticking on my clothes and I look like I live with some white cats! I have to clean up the down constantly (not easy because it flies all around when u try to dust or vacuum it!) I have even used a duvet cover, right from the beginning, with a high thread count. I'm either going to buy another comforter or try a 'comforter protector' in addition to the duvet cover.
