I think most of the reviewers below know what they want in a set of sheets but do not necessarily know what to look for. You should realize that there are many factors that affect a sheet’s thread count. The ply of the fabric: Single-ply fabrics use threads on their own as opposed to double-ply fabrics that are made up of two pieces of thread twisted together. So technically, a thread count of 800 could be made of only 400 double-ply threads or could contain 800 single-ply threads. If you are looking for a heavier, more durable sheet set, choose fabric with double-ply fabric. Single-ply fabric sheets are going to appear thinner and more delicate. Different types of cotton sheets: Egyptian cotton is praised for its breathability and is highly absorbent. Pima cotton, grown in the Southwest United States and in South America, is known to be long lasting and a staple in large households. Know the weave you are after. For a silk-like cotton sheet, closely woven percale sheeting is the best option. Flannel cotton sheets, with a twill weave, maintain a raised surface that delivers a fluffy appearance along with an ultra soft and cozy feel. For some stretch in your sheets, the plain-stitch knitted jersey sheet would be your best bet. And for a more luxurious appearance, the sateen weave would be appropriate with its weave construction placing most of the threads on the surface. With that said, this set of sheets are very durable and heavier than most you would find at Kohl’s or Macy’s, soft but not silky soft and they have a subtle beautiful sateen sheen to them. This makes them thicker, not necessarily softer. I love the weight of these sheets and have purchased a few sets myself. They do soften up after time but they will never be the super silky soft that some of you below were/are looking for. However they will last a long, long time. If you are looking for super soft and silky you would need to look for a closely woven cotton percale. Save some money, do a little research before purchasing something you feel is costly. It will save you frustration, time and money, and not to mention it will save the store from a crappy review and loss of business. Hope this helps future sheet purchasers!
I have 1500 thread count sheets which I love and these are just as good. Easily fit my Cal King pillow top mattress. Only possible criticism is that the top sheet could be wider to give more room to tuck it in at the sides but most sheets are that way. Would definitely buy again.
These sheets are very luxurious, and high quality. Sure, they come out wrinkled - anything with a high thread count is going to come out wrinkled. Personally, I don't really care. When folded up for storage, they take up about 3 times as much as my older "regular" sheets. I'm planning to get rid of all my old sheets because after sleeping on these, I don't think I can settle for anything else. The elastic on the fitted sheet is quality sewn in and very "grippy". The seems and edges are done with care. I have washed them twice now and they have not shrunk at all. The white, is very white. They look great with my white damask duvet cover and white damask bedskirt. You can't even come close to 1,000 threadcount sheets in the store for this price. I will be back for more, once I get sick of washing the same set over and over.
..are very thick, which is why I like them, but they are not as soft as I thought they would be. They were quite expensive, so I thought I would be sleeping in luxury, but not quite. They are sturdy and don't slip around, which is nice. They are just cotton, not velvet, or clouds, or anything else.
I've purchased several sheet sets from overstock, all of which have been 1000 - 1200 TC. When I initially received these sheets, they had a nice sateen finish. This disappeared after only one wash. They also aren't nearly as soft as the other sets I've bought. Perhaps this will improve with several more washings. The deep pockets are great for a pillow-top mattress though. Overall, however, there are much better, more comfortable sets on Overstock for your money.
These sheets are quite heavy and should last a lifetime. They start out soft and get softer with every wash. Absolutely no pilling. The nice border is a plus and I love the gold color.
These are my favorite sheets!!!! They are soft and comfortable and they wash and wear with ease. They actually get better with several washings. I consider this an investment, because I won't have to buy sheets for a very long time. I strip them off the bed, wash them and put them right back. I am becoming a sheet snob.......I don't think I will ever buy anything else. The price cannot be matched anywhere. I have looked at the mall and specialty stores......any thread count above 800 is very expensive. Yeah, Overstock!!!!
I bought these sheets in 2009. it's 2012 and I still love sleeping on them. They have held up well from regular use over the last 3.5 years. There is some slight pilling but the sheets are still so comfy. I got a new set and I still come back to these. I like the detailed folding over on the edges.
The sheets have shrunk a bit more than we expected, but we have a pretty deep mattress.
My husband and I love these sheets. Frankly, I have created a monster, because he now insists that we only purchase 1000 thread count sheets. Very good value and quality.
