I purchased 2 of these latex toppers. I had a 3" one already on top of a mattress which was a little too firm. I also had a badly sagging mattress in another room, a $2000 sealy latex. Since the manufacturer was not very responsive in fixinging the mattress (6 years into a 20yr warranty) I decided to just get rid of it and build my own latex mattress. I used one of these toppers to replace the 3" topper, and the other to top off the one I built: 5" polyurethane foam base (purchased elsewhere), layered with the 3" med firm latex topper and this 2" soft latex topper. Finally, we have 2 very comfy beds! I highly recommend this mattress topper to anyone who wants to add a soft, comfortable top layer to their bed. NOTE: The thinner the layers added on top of the latex topper (ie; mattress cover) the more you can appreciate the comfort of the latex! A thicker, more padded cover will make it feel more like a traditional mattress. Try it both ways to see which works best for you!

I read the reviews before buying this to see if this mattress pad had a strong odor. We've had latex pillows that had a strong odor and wanted to be sure this didn't before we bought it. Most of the reviews said that it did not have an odor so we thought we'd try it. Well, either those other reviewers have no sense of smell or they got a different pad than we did. The one we received had such a strong odor that we had to remove it from our house. We had it in the spare bedroom and could smell it in the living room. We've had it in our camper for over 2 months now. The smell is still overpowering when I go in the camper. I'm hoping that once spring gets here I can put it out in the sun and get rid of the smell. I would have returned it but hoped that the smell would dissipate. I can't rate this mattress pad on how comfortable it is because we haven't had a chance to use it yet.
The foam I received is Dunlop made by latex green. it is marked 17.4 density.... it feels soft to me suitable for a topper but I was really wanting talalay. Still a good value at about an $80 savings from competitive websites (although there you know what your getting). If your not picky go for it, if your expecting talalay don't bother.
My husband and I really like this latex mattress topper. It definitely helps to soften a hard mattress. There was no smell and it fit the queen size bed perfectly.
I love this mattress topper! It's like sleeping on a cloud. The quality is nicer than synthetic mattress toppers I've purchased. Only a couple of minor issues: 1) little bits of material fell off from it when I moved it, so I've covered it with a thin cotton mattress pad rather than placing sheets directly on it and 2) it seems to hold in body heat a little, so is not the most ideal hot-weather mattress topper. However, it doesn't hold heat as much as memory foam, and I live in a cold climate anyway, so I'm happy with it.
Just a note others spoke of an odor. There was no "bad" smelling odors in this topper. Actually it smelled like cupcakes hence the kiddos call it the cupcake bed. It was packaged well, and took minutes to set up. It is very sturdy and was worth every cent. Both of us agree that this makes for a better night sleep. Being latex helps because it is quality and will last. Thanks so much.

- Please tell us about the quality of the product. The quality of this product is exactly as other reviews have said. This topper is perfectly priced, and after 3+ months of sleeping on this topper my bed makes me feel like a princess.
I had a too-hard bed and this was just right to soften it up. I wake up feeling better and I'm more comfortable sleeping. No real smell when I opened it, that had me worried from other reviews, and thinking I would have to put it somewhere to air out for a few days, but I didn't smell anything and just put it straight on my bed. Recommended for people who have a hard bed and want more comfort.
We bought the topper because I wanted latex, not memory foam. Memory foam toppers seem more easily available and cheaper, but our bedroom is very hot in the summer and cold in the winter and I had heard that memory foam responds to the ambient heat a lot. So I wanted Latex. --- We recently bought a new mattress but I was feeling strapped and didn't want to pop for the extra $400 luxury package that would have put the latex on the mattress. It seemed okay to me in the store... But we got it home and slept on it a few nights I was really feeling the lack of luxury. It was uncomfortable and hard. Knowing when we bought it that this might happen, I had figured at the time that if this did happen it's cheaper to buy a pad (like this one). It's so much cheaper that if in three or five years I need to replace the topper, I'm still ahead. The topper on Overstock was at least $50 - 100 cheaper than anywhere else.--- Some other reviews on this topper I read said when they arrived their toppers were ripped up or unevenly cut, and that it put off tiny latex balls everywhere. We did not have those problems. The topper seemed somewhat delicate, as if its own weight would cause it to rip if you just grabbed onto it and pulled, so I sort of folded it over and lifted it around, instead of grabbing one end and pulling, to straighten it on the bed. But it wasn't raggedly cut, didn't have any defects, and didn't put off little latex balls. ---- On comfort - It didn't change the mattress from a 0 to a 10, I didn't get the "ooooh, sleeping on a cloud!" feeling I'd hoped for. But it is softer, a little more cush to the bed, and we're sleeping better, it's more a 6 or 7 out of 10 on the plushy scale.
We bought this because we wanted some additional softness in our mattress, but were worried about the chemicals (and flammability) of memory foam toppers. This fit the bill, but my only complaint is the smell. After 8 months of usage, you can still smell the latex. I make sure to air out the bedroom every day, so the smell isn't too intense. If you're sensitive to smells, this is definitely a factor to consider.
I'm somewhat pleased with my purchase because it has definitely made my bed more comfortable. However, the topper does have an odor to it. I have aired it out for one full week and the odor is still there. If you touch the topper with your hands or lay down on it with your clothes on, your hands and clothes will smell afterwards. It only took 7 days from the time I ordered the topper for it to be delivered, which was excellent for free, standard shipping. The overall price was very good and I couldn't have purchased the topper at the same price in a store or anywhere else on-line. The topper does run an inch or two larger (both in length and width) from a standard size queen mattress. Lastly, the topper came in a generic box so you have no details about the product. If the smell goes away in the near future, then I would change my rating to 4 or 5 stars.
My mattress is too firm. When I slept on my side, my shoulder was jammed between the mattress and the neck or back. (Yes, it was as uncomfortable as it sounds). I read the reviews on this mattress pad, did lots of research (on & off the 'net), debated 2" vs. 3" pads, visited a mattress store to try out latex and different coil mattresses (comfortable but expensive-- and no guarantee of what it would feel like in my home since floor models are always softer than new mattresses). Ultimately I decided to buy this a month ago. Instant comfort! No problems with the smell. The pad does have to be handled somewhat gently since it can break off. Thanks to other reviewers who mentioned this, I was prepared and careful when opening the bag/straightening it on the bed. I have no idea how long it will deliver relief. But if I have to replace it every 18 months, I would still recommend it.
My husband has Rheumatoid Arthritis & has trouble with his hips & knees that keep him up at night. A new mattress didn't help so I researched toppers & discovered a latex topper was what he needed. We'd tried memory foam (made him hurt worse) & other toppers without much luck. We've been sleeping on this topper for several weeks now & love it! He hasn't slept this well in years!!! I will probably order 2 more for my teenage children & recommend it to my friends & family.
Latex is complicated stuff - it comes made by two processes, talalay and dunlop, and in different softnesses. The problem with this topper, is that you have no clue what it is. Talalay is usually considered the better grade, and feels softer than dunlop of the same rating. And someone who is happy with a 19 ILD softeness may be miserable with a 25 ILD. So it is important to know just what you are buying, and almost impossible to find out from OS. When I called OS, they swore this topper was 19 ILD talalay, which would have been great. But a number of posts on the net from people who have bought them say they got Latex Green dunlop drop shipped from Jeffco Fibers. One customer rep told me if I specified talalay that's what I would get, but another told me it would depend on whether they had any in stock. Oh well, OS is great about returns and will pay the return shipping if their description has been in error.
Before I purchased this topper I called overstock.com and asked what the ILD was for the topper; ILD is the measure of firmness for latex foam. The operator didnt know. I then asked who is the manufacturer so I could call and ask them, operater didnt know. I then assumed the topper whould be soft so ordered it. I was wrong its more of a medium maybe hard firmness. I does appear to be real latex from latexgreen, the material is ok. It could be second quality
'Spent weeks looking at and trying out mattresses. Research seemed to indicate that latex was best. We were frustrated to have to buy a new mattress when ours (innerspring and visco) was only 2 years old and expensive! We thought we'd experiment with a latex topper. OMG! So happy we went this route. This is a great buy. Excellent product...no need for us to buy a whole new mattress...this works superbly!
The 2 inch topper is good quality and very comfortable. A very good value compared to comparable products on the web.
We replaced our 2 inch memory form topper with this 2 inch latex topper and could not be happier. I would sink to the bottom of the memory form and feel encased with it as I would begin to sweat during warm nights. The latex has neither of these traits. I rest comfortable on the latex with none of the extra heat. The price from Overestock, com was only one third the price of several other web suppliers. It also was equal to or lower than some memory foam alternatives. I highly recommend this product and supplier.
I purchased this Queen Latex Topper for my Mom.I Purchased a King from "O" and just Love it.I was able to turn a Rock hard Matress into a comfortable bed.Mom's mattress was getting uncomfortable so I bought this for a gift. She thinks I purchased a new Mattress .We are all happy with this purchase and the Latex doesn't make us sweat! Thank You "O" for the great Prices ,We Love You!.
I absolutely love my mattress topper. Like the other reviews say, it will be stinky as it off gases in the beginning. Make sure to it out because after about a month, the odor goes away. It is very comfortable and offers the right amount of plush and support. I used a mattress pad to help secure it in place as it tends to shift around on top of the mattress. I would buy this product again in a heartbeat.
This is a pretty good topper although it split a little on the seam where the two portions were glued together. It still works though. Helps to relive pressure points on our older spring mattress. We've had it for 2 years now and is still holding up with body impressions yet.
