I bought this in the amathyst. I am a fan of plum and eggplant, so to me the amathyst looks cheep, but my boyfriend likes it. It has a seam running down both sides, so both the top and the bottom are made from 3 strips of fabric. One of the button holes were not made, so I can not button one button. On the plus side, it is very afordable, softter than some of the sheets I own, and looks good from a distance.

I bought this duvet cover for my teenage daughter. She wanted the amethyst color, and it's a really pretty purple, not too dark. She is really happy with the color and the feel of it. I thought it was a really great value, and after seeing it and putting it on her bed, it still feels like a good value. I have not washed it yet, so I can't comment on that. After purchasing this for her bed I am considering buying one for me. We are happy with our purchase.

This is a nice duvet cover sheet set. The "amethyst" color is more of a dark purple or plum color. I like it, though.

I purchased the amethyst color duvet cover. The color wasn't nearly as bold and dark as I was hoping. It looked almost faded; like an over-washed look. It's just fine for a duvet color though. Good quality.

Love it! The amethyst is a beautiful rich color, and it is so soft! I would definitely recommend this one!

I have to say, it took me forever to choose a duvet cover for our guest bedroom, and I finally settled on this one. It looks gorgeous. I chose the amethyst, and it is a deep, rich purple/plum color, which was just what I was hoping for. The stripes are not obtrusive, but add a nice amount of texture to make it more interesting.

THE KING SIZE SET COMES WITH ONLY STANDARD PILLOW COVERS. I bought the amethyst king set and am very pleased with the color and quality, but initially thought they must have sent the wrong size because the pillow shams are standard size. I have bought several duvet covers from Overstock and other places online and this is the first time I have gotten standard size pillow covers with a king size set. I was disappointed about that, but otherwise think it is a good value for the money. I just wanted to warn others before they bought something they couldn't use.

I had purchased the amethyst purple color. When I first opened the package, it felt a tad lighter than what I wanted, and the shine that I was expecting wasnt there too. (its only a 230 count, afterall). However, when I laid it out on my new ivory sheet sets,it looked very beautiful. Its subtle and brings a nice warmth to the room. The purple color is actually quite close to what I wanted, I felt. The stripes make it look majestic. I havent washed it yet, but I have purchased duvet covers from overstock before and havent had issues with quality or delivery. It actually came in 2 days, though the promised time was 5 to 10 days.

This is a beautiful damask duvet cover. 5 stars for everything except color. Although it is called amethyst, I did not expect it to be a slightly grey pinkish-violet , or a toned-down purple color. My expectation was a darker more intense purple. I'm keeping it anyway and will work with the color. It would have been nice to be able to see the color better on the monitor. The color swatch shown was just too small, even when it was enlarged.

I ordered two of these duvet sets, one in navy and one in amethyst in two different sizes and the colors are identical to what you see here in the picture, which I really liked. They shipped very quickly and were very neatly packaged when they arrived. The only reason I would not reccomend to a friend is because they are not the softest, most high quality blanket and pillow covers (but not scratchy or anything!) but for the price they are wonderful. I am using them as guest bedding and they are gorgeous and serve their purpose well.

I wanted a decent price duvet covers that was soft, and that's what I got with this! I have a friend who had ordered the hunter one and I spent a long time looking at different duvet covers but ultimately went with this in Amethyst because I knew it would be soft. It is incredibly soft and I love curling up in my fluffy down comforter (also from Overstock!) and the wonderfully soft duvet cover. However, once you get past how nice the feeling of the comforter is, I wasn't as thrilled. The color wasn't what I had hoped for. It was hard to get an idea of the colors as a lot of people said it was different from the picture but I wasn't really sure how it would be, so I took the chance and ordered the Amethyst. It's not a bad color alone, but when you combine it with the rest of my bedding (shades of darker purple and lavender) it doesn't look very good. It's a reddish-brownish purple. In my opinion, if you want a pretty purple, this is NOT it. It's not pretty or feminine, and it doesn't match other shades of purple very well. It's more of a burgundy-purple than an amethyst. Also it is not a very vivid color. It looks like it has been worn and washed for many years. This does add to the softness, it kind of reminds me of an old favorite tshirt that is worn out but you love it. If you want something crisp or sharp, this isn't it. Also as others have said.. the buttons won't stay buttoned! I'm not ambitious enough to bother sewing up the button holes more, so I just kind of deal with it. I don't bother re-buttoning them anymore because by the next day the buttons will be back out. I would consider getting another of these (in Hunter) because it's sooooo soft, and I think the Hunter would look better with my other purple bedding than the Amethyst does. But the buttons are what is keeping me from doing so, most of the time it doesn't bother me too much, but it does keep it from looking nicer that the comforter is always poking through because the buttons don't stay. And my guests always point it out :) Overall, I love the feeling of it and it's worth it for the money if you can get past the button issues, the unexpected stripe orientation, the standard sized pillow shams and get a color you like. Also, I got a king size cover for a king size comforter, and it's a relatively fluffy comforter but there is PLENTY of space, which is fine with me because it adds to the softness and comfort.

So far so good, The color (amethyst) was a dull wine after I washed it, but it is ok, I will need to iron the cases as the edges wrinkled after being washed, It's fine for the price, I wish I got the burgandy instead..though.

I bought the amethyst but when it arrived it was not as deep as the picture. It looks more like a lavender than a purple. It is a good set though so I decided to keep it. I probably will not buy this particular one again, but I would not say not to buy it, just make sure of the color before you order.

I was looking for a purple duvet all around town, and could not find anything fitting. This one is the perfect combination of value, quality, size, and comfort. The fabric is very soft and feels wonderful, and the Amethyst color (which in reality is a soft mid-tone warm purple) goes wonderfully with my newly refinished bedroom and the new curtains. Thank you, Overstock!

I purchased the Amethyst color and was very pleased to receive a deep rich consistent color. Very nice look and feel. It fit my down comforter perfectly. It would have been nice if the area of the opening would have had overlap instead of just meeting at the bottons, as the comforter tends to bulge out between the buttons.

I got this in amethyst to cover a decades-old quilt I got from L. L. Bean, which seems likely to last forever - which is a good thing, but it's an overly bright green, and not my color anymore. It's always risky to buy for a specific color, especially with a very small picture, but this turns out to be gorgeous, great color, great texture, great stripe, and amazingly easy to get around the quilt. I'm looking forward to cold weather!
