The topper came wrapped in plastic and did not smell. It is exactly 2 inched from the bottom to the top of an egg crate peak. It is about 1 inch from the bottom to the valley of the egg crate. I thought it would be a 2 inch base at the bottom but it really is a nice topper. It is exactly as advertised. It does a nice job of making the bed soft and relieving pressure points. It also fits under the fitted sheet better since it is not so tall.

I purchased mattress topper to help with my back. We had gotten a new queen bed set and it was entirely to soft for us. I didn't know what to do someone suggested miricale foam. We sall the sale on overstock and ordered it. Just 2 days after putting it on the bed no more backache. It is wonderful.

I bought this because I have always used egg crates and was thinking about memory foam, but don't like the the soft sinkiness of memory foam. This is basically firm (4 pounds per square foot) memory foam/egg crate and it works perfectly. In fact, my girlfriend who has a memory foam mattress said, "I can't believe that your bed is more comfortable than mine." Shoulder and back pain that I had been having from just a mattress topper are gone. The price is right, it didn't smell at all out of the packaging (total surprise); I'm fully satisfied.

I've had my dream support mattress topper for over a month now, and, I must say, my back is all the better for it. I have a bad back, and have not been able to find the right combination to support it. However, I have combined the dream support with the previously ordered contoured mattress from Overstock, and this has now sufficed. You may have to become creative like me, in order to find the perfect combination to an aching back...it's worth it though to keep experimenting.

This mattress topper is a very good value, especially considering what I paid for it. The photo showed the egg-crate side facing up, so that's how I put it on our king-sized mattress originally. However, I have fibromyalgia, and after a couple weeks I discovered that the tops of the egg-crates seemed to push against all of my fibromyalgia tender points. So I flipped the topper over so that the smooth side faces up, and that fixed my problem. I sleep really, really well on this thing, which is a relief; I've suffered with fibromyalgia for many years so this mattress topper really helps a lot.

For the price it was just okay..There was almost no smell which was good, but the pointed side is really felt through a sheet so I placed it under the mattress pad. felt better but not much cushion effect.. Memory foam would be much more comfortable.

I HATE HATE HATE memory foam! Thanks to the great O I found one that is a combination of an old favorite of latex and memory foams. Oh the joy of comfort for my old bones! I love this egg crate pad.
