I purchased this last year in ivory and absolutely loved it. Great quality, amazing feel, perfect weight. This month I went to change it out for some Ralph Lauren bedding I received as a birthday gift, but as beautiful as the new bedding looks, it cannot hold a candle to my ivory comforter. The feel and weight of the Madison Park is just so perfect, so I just ordered another one, this time in blue. That way, I can use my RL sheets and shams without having to do without the comforter I love. Hands down, this is the best!
We needed to change all the bedding =, including the insert to one of our duvet's. Our cat it seems has an allergy towards fethers. He gets well every time we remove a feather item. It i great and pouffy.
My husband was very pleased with the softness of the down pillow. He had one that was down and feather, but the feathers were always poking out. It was also a mess whenever bedding was changed as feathers would fall out of pillowcase.
This comforter is light weight. The most light weight down alternative comforter i've ever felt. But that's not a bad thing. My husband is fussy about bedding temperatures in the late spring through early fall. This is a perfect combination of softness and light weight comfort. Wouldn't keep someone warm in the winter I am guessing. The size and price are also fabulous. Not too small like some of those other comforters.
I carefully read every review before purchasing this comforter, and am so excited and in love with it. I have had it on the bed for some time now, all through the winter, and into spring, and it is a perfect weight/warmth for the Pacific Northwest. I don't like a lot of weighty bedding, and with this warm comforter, I even removed the extra blanket, so we have only the flannel sheets and comforter, and the window open. It is soft, and for a side note, matches the 18" microsuede feather and down filled throw pillow set of 2 that comes in red. These red pillows on the red comforter is amazing. I haven't washed the comforter yet, and not sure if a king size will fit in the washer, but I have spot cleaned a dirty paw print, and although it turns almost black when dampened, it dried with no spot of evidence of paws. If you are considering adding a red to your bedroom, this is a beautiful red, and a very nice comforter. I am happy with it.
These pillows are not as incredibly soft as a fully down pillow, but that said they are pretty nice. Mine are very comfy and I'm glad I got them, especially for this price. Mine also came with a funny smell, kind of like cardboard, but that faded after a couple days and now I don't smell anything at all. I added pillow protectors from Ikea to top mine off and it has made them even more luxurious feeling. I would recommend these pillows. Be aware, if you aren't sure the size on here called "Standard" isn't what you think of as a standard pillow size in the US. If you went to a bedding store or a store like Target, you'd be buying something closer to the queen size. So if you want this to fill out your typical US pillow cases, get Queen.
We just got back from a trip to Europe, and as usual, I became obsessed with how comfortable and simple the bedding is. A fitted sheet, two twin down comforters with very soft comforter covers, and down pillows. I researched and researched and shopped and shopped until I knew what I wanted. Then, I got on overstock.com and found each item. This comforter is phenomenal. You would NEVER know it's an alternative comforter. It's as soft as goose down. And for those of you who have said that they're tired of fluffing, etc.... ?? I'm confused. That's what having a down comforter is all about! Every morning, you fluff that bad boy up so that it's nice and lofty for when you jump in bed again the next night. Dreammmmyyyyyy..... Make sure you don't skimp on the flat sheet or the comforter cover. They must be soft as a dream or you lose the whole concept. I bout the Casa Fiori 1000 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton Blend sheet set. Yes, I only use the fitted sheet, but you never know... A flat sheet can come in handy. I bought two sets of sheets, so maybe I'll make some shames or duvet covers from the flat sheet.
I had a feather bed in the past, which I replaced with a foam topper. I was skeptical because with the old one, feathers were always sticking out and poking me. This bed is WONDERFUL and I Love it. There are no feather issues with the cover. It is very supportive. I let it air out and give it extra fluff, when I change my sheets. I cover the bedding with a fitted sheet and let it lay on top of mattress. Great value for the price.
I bought this to go on top of the Serta Ultimate 4-inch Visco Memory Foam Mattress Topper http://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Serta-Ultimate-4-inch-Visco-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper/1657609/product.html because I had read that it helps with sciatica and we had slept on a similar configuration at a resort and my husband's back issues weren't as bad in the morning after that (making him more able to do is physical therapy exercises for the back issues). The feather topper takes a bit away from the 'memory foam' but it isn't bad, and it is nice and fluffy and prevents heat issues. I've not had any issues with feathers sneaking out of this topper when it has the cover on, but when I wash the cover I do see some of them peeking out, I just kinda fluff it up and flip it to reposition it so that it doesn't get worn unevenly. I believe this will be the last bed setup I'll have to get because unless it goes bad this has all lasted at least 2 years and hasn't gone flat or bad, and it is very comfortable. Obviously eventually we'll be changing things out, but regular cleaning/rotating/flipping etc helps keep it from flattening. I like the cover so much I wish I had a second one, and will probably look for that so that we aren't waiting on the laundry every time I wash it.
