I prefer down alternatives so that I can launder them and don't have feathers poking out of the cover. This one is warm, fluffy and comfortable. I bought 3 of them.

I purchased the all season Premier Micofiber Down Comforter, not realizing that it should be dry cleaned. When it arrived, I took it out of the package, and immediately wahed it. It came out all wrinkled and the stuffing inside each of the pockets shifted, so not only did i have to iron it, I had to try to arrange the pockets to make them smooth. It looks beautiful on the bed, but next time I would get something that is washable. It took a lot of my time to do all that.

Very nice comforter which is warm and comfortable. The oversize is great when the bed has two in it. Easy to find a duvet cover to fit the dimensions.

I really do like these more than my real down comforters. They are plush and easy to wash. Not for super cold nights maybe, but really nice for the warmer nights. So far they are holding up well.

This is the softest down alternative comforter I have used! I bought the sage green in a king-size. It just barely fits over the mattress but it is perfect for me. Warm in the winter - cool in the summer.

I bought one each for my boys whose rooms are a little chillier than the rest of the house. They love them.

This was a gift for my granddaughter that lives in Oklahoma. It's been very cold there this winter, and she tells me that the comforter has helped keep them very warm at night in bed. A grateful granddaughter - very pleased with this warm present.

This is nice, it is lighter weight than I expected however it is very warm. If you are looking for a down alternative you may like this one. I like the heaviness of real down so it's difficult to compare!

This comforter was alright but I would much rather prefer down over alternative

I thought it would be thicker more plush. It might be better if I put a duvet over it.

My favorite comforter ever, really! Soft and plush and snuggly. I change it up with different duvet covers for variety throughout the year.

THIS COMFOTER DOES THE TRICK; HOWEVER, I SHOULD HAVE PAID MORE MONEY TO GET THE THICKER ONE. THOUGH, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS ONE! IT KEEPS ME WARM; HOWEVER, I PERSONALLY SHOULD HAVE GOT A THICKER ONE. CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICE! IT WAS A GREAT DEAL!

I am so pleased with this comforter. It looks on my bed exactly as it did in the photo. Usually, most often, I do read a few reviews and was influenced I would say by the positive feedback Overstock received on this comforter. It is silky soft, pure white, with ample room to fit my bed perfectly. We live in the southeast, so I certainly did not want anything that would be too heavy -- but at the same time allow us the warmth we need sometimes. This really fit the bill. The price was more than affordable. Cannot say enough. Love it!

I have had the sage/cream comforter for over a year now and it has really held up, for the most part. The color was spot on and it really does a good job keeping you warm. I use it mostly in the guest room, so it doesn't get daily use, but after one washing, it has stood up well. There are a few loose threads, after the wash, but the stuffing stayed put and there haven't been any holes from the loose threads. Overall, especially for the price, this was a great deal!

very light weight, but warm enough. True to size, no tags or clips to attach the duvet cover, but so far is staying in place very well

When winter arrives, many people turn to down alternative comforters to keep warm. What's the difference between down alternative and down? Down alternative comforters are filled with natural or synthetic materials, while down comforters are filled with goose or duck down. Here are the best down alternative comforters for winter.
A good comforter is an essential item for any comfortable bed. Down comforters are an especially popular type of comforter in many homes, though down alternative comforters offer many benefits for allergy sufferers. Although both offer durability and warmth, there may be some debate between down comforters versus alternative down comforters concerning which one is right for you. When choosing a comforter, consider factors such as cost, warmth, and aesthetic appeal to help you make the right selection.
Down is renowned for its softness, warmth and lightness of weight, which makes down comforters, also known as duvets, some of the warmest, lightest kinds of bedding available. Those who have experienced the supreme pleasure of sleeping with a down comforter seldom want to use any other kind. Whichever kind of down bedding you choose -- a down featherbed, a duvet, down pillows or a down blanket -- from our bedding and bath store, you can rest easy knowing you have chosen to buy the finest in luxury bedding. In this down buying guide you will find information on how to buy down comforters and choose the right down bedding for your home.
Two major considerations when purchasing a down comforter are content and construction. The Federal Trade Commission has standards set that specify labeling procedures for products that contain down. If the label of a down comforter reads 100 percent down, the comforter must contain down feathers exclusively. The same is true if the label reads pure down or all down. Most down comforters are made with goose down, but some may include down feathers from other species of fowl. Look below to learn how to buy a down comforter.
Down comforters are popular choices for bedding because they provide thick and soft covering as you sleep. Down is a soft layer of fluff that lies directly underneath the feathers of most birds. Down comforters help keep you warm during colder months without letting you get overheated. Luckily, it's possible to find down comforters on sale when you know what to look for. Look below to learn how to choose down comforters on sale.
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer, down comforters offer the ultimate in comfort and insulation. Down is lighter and more flexible than feathers, which is why it's so popular for use in down bedding. When used to fill comforters, it gives you the ultimate in year-round comfort.
