I purchased this comforter in Ocotober 2005. In the begining the comforter was great, very warm and very fluffy. Now, a little over two years later, there is hardly any fill left in it. I was told that if you spend the money on a good comforter, it should last your many many years. This is not the case with this one. I am now looking for a better comforter to replace this so called "great" one.
While this blanket is quite sufficient and warm, nowhere in the advertising or the outer product labelling does it reveal that this is only partially created from goose down. This is a big fat heavy chicken feather blanket with a high thread count covering.
We had been searching for the perfect, lofty, cozy comforter with no success. I read all the reviews before purchasing this one. I was prepared to give it a week to two to let it "fluff out". My husband was a non-believer and kept telling me that there was no way this was going to get any bigger -- and boy was he wrong. This is the coziest, fluffiest comforter ever. We bought it for $99 and that was a steal, but I'd easily pay double that after owning one for a year. Well worth it.
I bought this over a year ago and I have been amazed at the excellent quality. After buying several cheaper products at different retail stores I had become used to seeing down feathers everywhere and I thought this was normal for such a comforter. This is not the case! This comforter has Not lost one feather in the past year! I had it stored in a closet for the summer and just pulled it out before Thanksgiving this year and I am 100% impressed with the excellent quality and durability of this comforter!
Our last comforter was wonderful. We got it from the Company Store, and it was very nice, but also quite expensive. After about 6 years of small children playing on our bed, the down got crushed and it just wan't warm anymore. Since our kids are now 7 and 6, we figured we still have plenty of years of bed-jumping, comforter crushing ahead of us so I figured I'll spend less this time, knowing I'll be replacing it in a few years. I expected this comforter to be nice, but not up to the Company Store version. Boy was I wrong! This comforter is every bit as well made as our last one, and maybe even stitched a tad better. The down fluffs up perfectly (give it a few days, it looks dissapointing at first but gets nice and full), and so far its super warm. We live in Colorado and have a few cold nights so far with no issues. One note: this comforter has a heavy feel when you are under it. Its not one of those super light ones that you can hardly tell is on you. We like the heavy feel better, but if you want a super light one, you should probably pass. If you want a well made, nice looking, full, and heavy comforter at what I think is an unbelievable price, you can't go wrong.
This comforter is great and looks great on the bed. It is very fluffy and large enough to cover my pillowtop (I was afraid it was going to be too short on the sides, but it wasn't). I will admit, this comforter is very warm. But, in the middle of the night in Michigan - especially in winter - that's what I was looking for. Might have to switch it out in the winter though... I switched this time from an older Eddie Bauer down comforter and this one is much better. No feathers leaking, nice big squares and much warmer.
i bought the comforters one month ago, last night it got cold. the down isn't distributed equally in the baffle - it is mor like a very worn and cleaned comforter, that I thought I was replacing. I waited too long to send them back, but thought overstock should know. I bought 3. they are fluffy, but not warm.
This comforter is actualy a little heavier than I expected, but this is in a good way. I am cold when I go to bed, but get hot when I am sleeping. This comfoter keeps me warm when I am going to sleep, but does not get so warm that I sweat or wake up during the night. I have a cover for it, but only use it to make washing easier. The fabric is soft enough that it would be very comfortable without the cover. I was told by a friend to air it out for at least a day before using it, but it had tripled in size after airing out for about an hour, and did not have any unpleasant smell at all after I took it out of the box. The only problem I have is that it is so comfortable, I have a tough time getting up in the morning for work!
I am born of a cold climate and have been buying down comforters all my life. This is the best quality and the best price---so good, I almost didn't buy it as the price seemed too good for the description!. Fabric is tight, smooth and lush. The comforter is super overfilled.....don't get it if you don't like a warm comforter...it is VERYtoasty! My husband noticed the first night, and he never notices comforters. It is the best of the best!
I was pretty impressed with this comforter when it was initially out of the box. It fluffed up very nice, the fabric is obviously of high quality...however..... I've only had this comforter a week. The sides drape over my bed as it should, but after just 2 days, the down fill all shifted to the sides where it drapes. The baffle box construction is very poorly done. Within a week, the center of the comforter (the most important area which keeps me warm) is already flat, since all the down has moved to the sides and edges. Since there's no down in the middle, and a lot of down on the sides, the whole comforter just looks bad. Trying to manually shift the down back into place is a royal pain, and I'm planning on either returning or using for guests. Still, at least the comforter was fairly cheap..otherwise I would have rated this as a 1 star.
I purchaced this comforter this past week. I received it last night. My husband has been a little skeptical about getting a goose down comforter. Last night was the first time we have used it and it was wonderful. It puffy and comfortable. The only reason why i gave it a 4 star rating for comfort is because it was VERY warm last night however we DO live in Texas
Description shows that this quilt has bafflebox construction to keep the down in place but this is only partially true. I rec'd the quilt yesterday and it is high quality but even though the label states "True Baffle Box construction" there are small openings that allow the down to shift. My experience is that after a few months all the down goes to the edges of the quilt and away from the middle when you need it. You end up spending time re-distributing the down from the big clumps at the edges.
I thouroughly read the reviews before purchasing this product and was somewhat disappointed when it was received. The comforter is rather flat and did not fluff up as much as I had anticipated after reading the reviews. The fluffiness factor was very important to me so this was a big disappointment. Overall the fabric is soft and the comforter does not appear to bleed feathers. It's not a bad buy if it is for a guest room and won't be used very often however I purchased it for my bed and am still contemplating returning the product.
This comforter is by far, the nicest down comforter I've ever encountered. The fact that this is a 650 fp with 60 oz. of down is incredible. Most the other comforters I've seen, in price brackets 2 & 3 times this price, are 600-625 fp with only 30-40 oz. of down. In comparison to this beautiful piece of work....all the rest are JUST BLANKETS. This has beautiful pinstriping and is silky smooth enough to leave without a duvet--if your house is pet free. It came out of the package super fluffy...even before I fluffed it further. Another plus, it doesn't have that scratchy, tissue-papery sound when it moves like so many other down pieces. Buy this. At this price buy a few. A++++
