Duvet covers are horribly overpriced - some costing more than the actual down comforter itself (I mean come on, it's two sheets that somebody sewed together...does that really need to be a $100 purchase?) This duvet was exactly what I was looking for at a fantastic price and I received it from Overstock within a week of ordering it. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I just received this duvet cover and the King shams. I chose this item because the measurements matched my comforter, and it came with KING SHAMS and not just standard, like many of the other king duvets. These sheets are made in China. The odor was strong when I opened the package, so I washed the items right away, and semi - dried them on medium. Since this is 100% cotton, I like to take them out of the dryer before they're completely dried and smooth them out on the bed to complete the drying so that they don't wrinkle as much. The buttons are not hidden, no big deal. There is a sheen to the fabric, which you either love or hate. I happen to love it. There are two vertical seams on the outer 1/4s of the duvet, I think all King duvets have these, but just be aware of it before you buy.My husband and I are both very pleased with the purchase. The duvet is soft and looks like great quality. I did not shrink when I washed it.
I am extremely pleased with this product. I have a queen and bought the king, it is a beautiful duvet that I ordered in the Gold color. I was wavering between the gold and blue and am very happy I went with the gold It is a very tasteful gold. The king fits almost to the floor on both sides but the end shows so definitely needs a bed skirt. I have a Temperputic bed and finally tracked down a gold bed skirt with elastic, I don't know how mft's expect someone to use an old fashioned bed skirt; I sure couldn't lift my bed. My beige bed skirt just didn't work but gold will work great. The wrinkles on the duvet did smooth out but I shouldn't have been so lazy and ironed the shams, will after the next wash. I searched for hours here to find a duvet that was pet friendly, that sateen is the pits if you have pets. It is so nice to not have a pile of blankets on the bed. I hope it is okay to say here but I searched forever for more color selections and Overstock has a surprisingly slim selection and found the gold and a lot of other colors with the elastic on ***** .
I had to double-check the thread count of this after receiving it--it feels like a much higher count than listed. The blue is really a lovely bold navy (the close up swatch looks more accurate than the in-room photo). There is a slight shimmer on the stripes but nothing gaudy. I purchased this for my boyfriend's bed and he loves it. It looks very masculine and feels amazing! Highly recommended. I might buy another one (for myself!).
I didn't expect a fabric claiming a 500 thread count to be so thin and flimsy. The product was made in China and had a strong solvent odor, so I had to wash it before I could use it. Washing it made it very wrinkly. The "ivory" color was quite a bit more yellow than shown in the photo; heaven help the poor elephant with tusks the color of this "ivory".
This Duvet cover is modern and subtle. Exceptional value. I like the fact that the buttons are hidden and they never come in contact with your skin. I have a very lightweight, full/queen size converter and it fits with a little room to spare. A word of caution on overstuffed or queensized converters, they may not fit, especially after the duvet has been washed and dried. I purchased the ivory and it is more of a buttercream. I am very pleased with my purchase. It is so soft and comfortable and it does not wrinkle easily. Love it!
I Wish I would have listened to others. I was not to picky about color selection, I just wanted something that was in my price range that was soft. Many reviews said just that. Its not bad, not crazy uncomfortable. But I would not buy it again or recommend it to anybody. If I would not have washed it I would have returned it. As others said, very cheaply made. Loose thread everywhere. To sum up, many people said it was soft, many others said it was not. If you are looking for comfort don't go with this one. As for me. I will never order bedding from over stock again. I would rather pay a higher price for something know feels good and is not so cheap. .
I ordered two of these. The first one was at a good price and the second one I paid top dollar for. Both have a seam running right down the middle of them. They look like someone sewed two together to make a king size duvet. Not happy at all!!!!
The "Overstock" concept makes sense. Manufacturers make more product than they can sell and sell it to Overstock to liquidate. That being said, I guess the words "you get what you pay for" are true regardless of how much sense a deal makes. The Damask duvet and pillow shams arrived but were nothing as I expeced. There is something wrong about products not being packaged in original manufacturers packaging. As a side note, every item I purchased from Overstock said they were "Simmons," "Beauty Rest," etc. No a single product arrived in packaging indicating the manufacturers name. No where on the product is there any indicating of this being 500 thread count. The inside label says, 100%, Made in China. The Duvet set arrived in a plastic bag, with no outside label whatsoever. The product had a perculiar odor, not typical sizing, but that of a petroleum nature. OK, so I received a no-name product, without any indication of what it was other than cotton. But let's talk misleading. There is a seam that runs the entire length of the Duvet, on both sides. It is now down the middle, but about 24" from the edge. Really? Come on Overstock? Why wouldn't you disclose this fact? If published, I would not have purchased this product. I am certainly disappointed.
I should have listened to the negative reviews. This is a single ply weave, I even called before I ordered to be sure it was not, but Overstock didn't know and said they would email me within 2 days of the answer. I waited over a week and never got an answer. I guess I should have taken that as a yes. This material is not heavy at all, as it should be at least a little at 500tc and feels like a flimsy sheet. The color is true, but that is all I am happy with. Be very careful when ordering bedding from overstock. Over the past 5 years, I have ordered 3 items for the bed from overstock, and only 1 has been correct. I don't want to have to pay to retuen it, so I guess I have to keep it -again.
I am happy with the the overall quality of the duvet set I purchased with one exception. There is a seam down the center of the duvet. I do like that it doesn't wrinkle if you lay on it and, even with the seam, it looks very nice on my bed.
The color is true to the picture. The fabric is really thing and becomes a ball of wrinkles after washing. The thing I could not understand was a weird seam that runs along the side if the cover. It makes me think the cover is a second made of remnant fabric. It's too strange and the location too random to be a design feature.
I bought this duvet cover in 2009 and it still looks and feels exactly the same after years of use. It's easy to care for and wash. I bought it in french vanilla and still feel like the style is simple and elegant four years later. I added throw pillows and sheets that have color and pattern and can always update those if I want a change in decor over the next few years.
I bought this in white. The duvet cover is a heavy enough fabric, and the stripe pattern is subtle and pretty. However, there is a large stitched seam running down the duvet cover. The seam spans about an inch and it isn't centered...it's about 2/3rds the way across the cover. It's an unsightly seam that really detracts from the cover. I needed the cover for a spare bed, so I kept the duvet rather than go through the hassle of returning the item, but I would not purchase this again because of the seam problem.
